First you say it sucks and then you're willing to accept it? Submissive people like you are a big part of the reason advertisers are invading all aspects of our life. If you help the cause and stand up and take a no-compromise stance against BS like ingame ads then maybe the advertisers will think twice about signing up for dynamic ads that may upset potential customers. And really it doesn't matter how they are done because you'll always know why they are there. Speaking purely from a gameplay continuity standpoint a war torn futuristic landscape is no place for clean brand new looking billboards of any kind plastering the landscape. The very most I'd tolerate is a non-dynamic ad covered in frost or damaged in some manner due to the freaking futuristic war being waged all around it.

Where did I say I'm willing to accept it? If its done very badly and its very intrusive then it will count as a big tick against the game for me, and I will let EA and DICE know that by expressing my opinion in the community and with my wallet. But if its not intrusive, then I will continue to enjoy the game on all its gameplay levels (or not depending on the finished game) and ignore the advertising.

You show a very childlike understanding of what we are discussing here. There are many games that use dynamic and static advertising, but youve probably never noticed it, or you are too busy spewing your gibberish in forums or making sad videos of yourself to notice. EA games have used static ads for a long time and its never bothered me, and Ubi Soft have used the Massive dynamic advert system before and it has had no effect at all on gameplay.

Just now and again in your last post.. allow me to quote you "Hopefully 2142 ads will be done with some taste, think animated futuristic billboards like Blade Runner etc. with some actual creativity to them". You know what that says to a company like DICE? Cha ching! If you adopt anything other than an absolute zero tolerance stance on this type of intrusive advertising then you will see more and more of it.

No actually I think you're the person who lacks the intellect to understand the implications of saying what we're discussing. Essentially you're saying "I'll accept advertisements". With that kind of attitude you'll GET advertisements and once every game has them and they are the standard then they'll become more and more intrusive as they push the limits of what players will tolerate. Just like MMORPG games with monthly fees. They started at 5, moved up to 10, 12, 15 and even 20 bucks a month. When the actual cost of bandwidth went down. Fact is the people were willing to eat the extra cost as it wasn't that much but if more people had taken a stand against this behavior and canceled accounts it would've hurt the bottom line for that company and thus THEY WOULD'VE STOPPED! You starting to comprehend this simple concept Sweet?

Oh believe me I've noticed it plenty. Some is a little more subtle but I always find even the most cloaked product placement to be annoying (The giant Xenadrine ad in T3 on the side of the truck for example). Fact is I rented Fight Night 3 for the Xbox360 from Gamefly and it was a great game but the amount of advertising in that game was ridiculous so guess what - I DIDN'T BUY IT. If the ads hadn't been in the game I would've bought it - and just like that the ingame ads cost them 50-60 bucks. Bottom line is I'm part of the solution and you're part of the problem. Funny though FN3 was another EA game and clearly not enough people boycotted that and other games with ridiculous amounts of intrusive advertisements for them to notice.

Fine it doesn't bother you but it bothers me and because you're enabling this type of behavior you're spawning more and more of it and it'll just keep getting more and more silly until in Battlefield 3 instead of having a jeep for transport they instead have the all new Honda Accord (in stores now!)! Face it, just because the ads don't effect your 5000 dollar Alienware PC that your mommy bought you or the high speed internet she also pays for doesn't mean that it doesn't effect Joe Schmoe with a less than uber rig and a 56k connection. Try downloading even 1 megabyte on a 56k modem and let us all know how that goes. Now try downloading that 1 megabyte file while trying to play a FPS online. Case closed son.

If EA wants to have ads streamed into the games, then the consumers should get something out of it, like lower prices, or cheaper servers because EA will make millions off of the advertising.
Tbh, they could give me a raise too.

Hilarious stuff!! Like I said, if you are on a 56k modem with 16mb video card, in-game advertising is the least of your problems in playing 2142. Because 2142 (and BF2) really arent too forgiving in terms of requirements. The back of the BF2 box says 128kbps minimum, so 56k modem owners only have themselves to whine to.

So Whoreboy, I take it you wont be buying 2142 because of the ads, oh dear what a shame for the community, we will sorely miss you. Well off you go then, your J10 is waiting for you on Wake Island, you better hurry, someone with a >56k connection and alienware pc might get in it before you do. :p

P.S. why are you bitching and whining about it in a BF2 forum anyway, when theres a whole thread about it in the 2142 beta forums which EA and DICE actually read?

ffs. BF2142 is going to have adverts in. BF2 won't... where are the billboards going to be? there aren't really any billboards in the maps.. besides, how would you have an elgish language advert on a billboard in a middle eastern city (karkand for eg)..

personally, it doesn't bother my having dynamic adverts in the game for two reasons, if i don't want what they are advertising, i just won't buy it. and 2ndly, if some poor sap is stood looking up at the billboard wondering if he needs a "new and improved rectal health home enema kit" i'll just run up behind him and stab him in the head.
