Stop contradicting yourself JSR.

You indirectly demand that IO mode be ranked yet then you turn around and pont out how meaningless you think statistics are. On that point I agree on the most basic level that the statistics themselves are pointless but they're anything but pointless when people choose one mode over another based on how many points they can make per hour while playing it.

It doesn't matter what I think about statistics but like it or not IO mode is just another way of saying easy/statpadding mode and a very large percentage of players and server operators know that and thus the mode is bound to be very popular. Look at the number of 24/7 Karkand servers. You think all those people are playing that single poorly designed map over and over again because they like it so much? You think the countless ILLEGAL high points and Knife and Pistol servers exists purely because they enjoy that style of gameplay?

Making IO mode unranked would make it a complete failure which is why DICE hasn't even considered it as a viable solution to the IO mode imbalance. Follow the logic train JSR - if people won't play IO mode (even if they do find it more fun) simply because it won't record meaningless points then WHY ARE THEY PLAYING IO MODE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

It's so simple I hope that even a primate like you can grasp such a simple concept.

And why do plane pilots want statistics, their bombs are way cheaper than nades. And they might be less cheap than mass medic reviving if it wasnt for the fact they hardly ever die in the first place so dont need reviving.

I dont, thats why I focus on dogfighting, rather than bombing. I like stats, I really do. Do I play for them? No. My BF2 filters "ranked" box is unticked

Don't ask me to get in the mind of a stat padder but...

We'll aside from the fact I can outscore pilots 99% of the time on my medic you're comparing apples to oranges. Airplanes are airplanes and no "special" mode exists that makes airplanes invincible to AA missiles and makes it much eaiser to get kills and a high kill/death ratio.

I could understand if the statistics were combined but they're not. DICE made seperate statistics for different vehicles for a reason. Infantry statistics gathered in IO mode (AKA easy mode) versus gathered in regular "manly" mode go in to the same exact area.

I'd estimate an infantry player who doesn't like vehicles might get 2.5SPM at the most on a regular server but once on an easy-mode server they'll easily get 3, 4 and maybe even 5 points a minute. Again I don't care about statistics but that essentially renders all pre 1.4 infantry statistics irrelevant for the players who compete for "top" infantry statistics.

Let's face it the main reason people DONT want IO mode is becouse they rather vehicle whore wich won t produce points so fast as the IO mode will. They dont want to play IO and they also dont want others to score faster than they do.

Guys, if you are not in the top10 it is not a race... forget about you global score, its meaningless...

Three of my favourite games...

1. In 1989 Microprose released "M1A1 Abrams" main battle tank sim.
2. In 1987 Microprose released "Airborne Ranger", infantry combat sim.
3. In 1989 Activision released "Apache AH64 Gunship".

I've been playing computer "war" games since before many BF2 players were born. If I can have a say in the development of the best game franchise I've ever seen (IMO), then I will.

Check my stats, I'm an armour specialist. Do I whore the tank in Karkand? No, in vehicle light maps I like the change, and it's "exciting" to be threatened in a different way by the enemy armour (by being a "soft" target). If all I cared about was points I'd be earning them the easy way, on Karkand.

I know I can get higher scores if I don't tank, some of my BRS are infantry only. A bigger challenge for me is holding and securing as much of the map as possible, I think large scale and long term. The gameplay and a good fight are everything to me, even if it does mean a low spm and less bling. Further how you could accuse anyone who specialises as engineer as a points whore is beyond me, check the threads regarding engy points, or lack thereof.

My score has nothing to do with it. Stats padding and the "me, me, me" mentality that this is introducing is destroying what the game is supposed to be about, and what it could develop into.

Instead of developing and balancing the idea DICE are pandering to the whining of the Karkand points whores with IO mode.

The fact theat NOBODY is playing the UNRANKED beta 1.4 IO mode servers with your precious IO mode (that you all want to play just for love) is evidence enough to me that you all want IO mode for points, not any of the lame guises presented here.

Great point and one I never considered.

People whining over the delayed 1.4 patch that they want so badly..

Yet at any moment they could all load up 1.4 BETA 2 and play 64 player CTD free IO mode to their hearts content yet they don't.

Why? I think we all know why.

It's funny thinking back on these forums and others I saw TONS of posts from people asking "Is 1.4 IO mode beta ranked??". What?!? It's not ranked! Screw that!

These people are so transparent it's disgusting.

IO mode should be an unranked only option bottom line and if you've got a problem with that you're automatically a stat padder in my eyes. It keeps the point whores out of IO mode, the people who really want IO mode can have it and because all the countless thousands of point whores are forced to stay in regular BF2 the impact on the regular servers will be minimal. Everybody is happy.. except for the point whores which is why DICE would never do this. Point whores = more ranked server = more ridiculously high ranked server fees from DICE.

Look, yeh there are some people who play IO right now, unranked, because it is what they want. I'll try all sorts of new tactics for things on an unranked server myself, because its more fun to try new things where people dont care so much if you TK them by mistake, and then once i've perfected it i'll bring it out on the pubs - unranked opposition is often much harder due to people playing for fun, who arent interested in points - no pizza hut noobs there.

But like i said, Lazza rips the pro-IO argument apart. WHY arent you guys playing the beta, telling Dice what changes you *think* ought to be implemented in making your IO experience that much more fun?? You guys dont wanna waste your precious point-scoring time, thats why! sigh.

(yes i know im generalising a bit here, but thats cos it seems to apply to the majority!)

Pyura, i think its more a case not of PW being obsessed by peoples stats, but simply using other peoples obsession to destroy their argument.

If they werent obsessed with their score, they would be playing 1.4 already. but they're not, thus their arguments of wanting IO just for the freedom from vehicles are nullified.
