    Re: New Rules Discussion

    (c) Players may not deliberately performing actions that hinder their own team (such as last-minute team-swapping to increase scores or statistics, excessive team-killing, destroying friendly vehicles, attacking team-mates,

deliberately placing themselves in a situation so they cause another player to team-kill them

why is this bit not in the regular rules
surely tking and griefing is banned on all servers

Just get rid of cartillary. As much as I hate jihad jeeps, I can live with it. UCB attacks, if it is the last flag left, to bad so sad. If these are options for private ranked servers then ignore all except cartillary.

I think rule (c) sounds reasonable of course.

Rule (d), (e), and (f) are all legit tactics. I do not think that these should be added to ROE. This is going to end up causing an increase in reporting servers and players for seemingly doing nothing wrong. D,E, and F are furthermore recognized as legit tactics by TWL. Unfortunately you cannot "force" the guests to your server to comply with every single rule, or else you will have a very empty server.

rule c to my mind though is in the wrong place - it should apply to all servers not just the few who choose to implement it

Squad hopping? Huh? What if the other team is just plain bad? So, just because the other team doesnt wanna cap flags, I cant cap them and have to go and fight them?

IMO, general rules are the ones that should be implemented. Some of these rules sound like they are based on people's opinions, and you have to remember not everybody thinks the same

dont worry EA actually seldom enforces ANY RULES as is shown by the fact there are about 40 knife and pistol servers that have been around for ages...

How hard is it to follow rules? These rules are set because of stat padders and tking smacktards. I've this things but with in the rules and tried not to stat pad or break them while doing this.

d - If the server allows the last flag to be camped, why not? They had a whole round to campture flags and means they given up and time to punish them.

e - I would pilot the BH but I would drop my team off at flags loaded with enemies to show we can clear and take a flag with no problem.

f - I would use C4 on a buggy to hit a tank or anything, but I would never ram. After using the buggy I would walk on foot and not die till I finished my C4s. I know it was lame but I don't do it anymore.

g - If an admin tried to tell me something and it dosn't fall under the abusive admin I don't mind. Like if they point out that I am doing something that breaks the server rules but that does not violate the ROE, I don't mind.

                Re: New Rules Discussion

i dont have any beef with any of those except...

                (e) Using transport helicopters to quickly capture all flags with no attempt to engage the other team (flag hopping).

                (f) Using C4 explosives on fast-moving vehicles to destroy other vehicles (C4-ramming)

i thought flag capping was a huge part of the game, and not only is the jihad jeep fun and perfectly legit, it it one of the few aspects of the game ive never seen complained about on these forums.(a rareity in and of itself.)

Please everyone the rules in the OP are optional "in-house" rules.

My main concern with these rules is with a manditory one.

                  1.3 Server Access

1.3.1 BF2CC may be used to access and adjust server settings not defined above but hosts must be able to demonstrate that the ranked server code is secure – no FTP access or other direct access to the files is allowed.

This should say, "except access to a PunkBuster screen shot folder"

If we have no way to download the PB screens then what is the purpose. Some GSP don't have web servers set up so that they could set up access to the folder with a web browser.

This was also in the original BFROE, some GSP's allow FTP to a PB SS folder some do not. Please make this clear.

Put these rules through and I will become the most hated player in BF2. I will go from server to server spilling the blood of all my teammates.

                        Re: New Rules Discussion

Simple Fact of Rule Mongering and why it is flawed.

To enforce rules you need a rule enforcer.

The enforcer is will make calls at his discression. Usually this is an admin that is either biased for their clan, or simply not able to observe everything all the time.

Basically this will only promote whining and bickering and most importantly ABUSE OF POWER.

Most clans only enforce rules in their favor.

Let's let "No Teamkilling." be the whole of the law. Let's man up and own up to our deaths and kills and quit bitching about how other people play.

Let the game police itself by it's own mechanics and restraints and let us adapt to that and see what comes of it.

The BFROE people are starting to annoy me with all their beurocratic ideals.

Uggg... more trying to fix things that aren't broken and leaving the stuff that IS broken alone. The tk'ing and standing on runways is annoying but that's about the extent of it. The other stuff (no placing arty on uncappable, no attacking uncappable, no jihad jeeps, etc.) is just dumb and unenforcible.

WTF ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME? It should be the other way around. . .

It's amazing. They put these ridiculous rules in place, yet they don't do crap to enforce them.

                              4. REPORTING VIOLATIONS OF THE ROE

Anyone who observes violations of the ROE based upon server rules or player actions should report these violations (with screenshots) as soon as possible.

Any action taken against players or Server Administrators will be taken by EA and may include having ranked servers being delisted (unranked) or having player accounts reset to remove all global points and awards.

Violations (or suspected violations) can be reported to any of the following authorised groups:

                              EA Support: http://support.ea.com/

Punkbuster: Cheats, hacks or exploits can be reported to research@evenbalance.com

So what happened? Did EA get tired of all the complaing from other reportees? or just overwhelmed by all the whining...

I've played on a server with IndianScout before and can state with 100% certainty that he is a rubbish player. Absolutely dreadful in fact.

So, these rules are designed to help him become a 'pwnerer'. If he can't beat them, he'll ban them from the server. What a baby!

Or, IndianScout is employed by one of EA's competitors to turn off as many good players from EA's products as possible.
