My God, you're right. I must have read the whole list several times and never saw it. Can't see the tree because of the forest I guess.
Well, back to bashing Colin again
This rule MUST be dropped.Leave a comment:

So are you saying we can turn off tkpunish now even if we have FF on? I didn't see this but if its true, then thank goodness for that!Originally posted by ChacalIt amazes me that some people can post but can't read.
Despite warnings on the first page of this thread, there are still posters who think these are rules made mandatory by EA (okay, Indianscout's way of posting them didn't help). People need to take a deep breath and repeat after me:
- These are just examples of rules that admins can put on their servers
- These are just examples of rules that admins can put on their servers
- These are just examples of rules that admins can put on their servers
- These are just examples of rules that admins can put on their servers
Now this:
- The currentl rules are now on EA's website: http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=26641
- You should actually read them before posting
- They were NOT written by IndianScout. Don't blame him. He just started a discussion thread.
Now for a personal opinion: this new version is WAY better than the old one. It is better written, gives more leeway to server admins, concentrates on the real issues (stat-padding servers and players). Furthermore, it makes it clear than the rules come from EA, not from any shady group of self-appointed "police".
It doesn't. It's been taken off this new version.
We banged on Shawn's head until he got our point.

2.2.3 TK Punish must be active (i.e. not “off”), but can be set to automatically punish or to allow players to punish/forgive by voting.
I still see it as being onLeave a comment:

yes some ppl need to read it twice. And attacking ppl in that manner which some ppl did in this thread is distastefull. I have nothing against Indian Scout :)
Rule (c) is ok for me, rule (d) well hard to control and if an admin is not on a server then ppl are just ignoring these rules set by the server. As for rule (e) flag hopping got eliminated when they nerfed the BH. With a very flexible and a team that pays attention to the map, they can easily and take the flags back.
Rule (f) not really a problem. Legit tactic and only the tankers that cries up about it. Rule (g), yes. So basicly:
(c):Yes
(d):50/50
(e):no
(f):50/50
(g):Yes
But its not enforced rules and its up to the single server/admins on the server to set each of these rules as legit or not.
If one of those rules are broken, then its up to the admin to either 24 hour ban or ban permantly. To reset stats for breaking Non-enforced rules set in the ROE, well would be too much.
My 2 cents.Leave a comment:

Are these rules that are able to be enforced by server admins....or rules that if you break you get a stat whipe??? im lost..Leave a comment:

Re: New Rules Discussion
So your are saying I am retarded?! "**" I have read those rules several times, since they first came out.
Here is a quote for ya:
These “in-house” rules are allowed as long as they do not violate the conditions of use of a ranked server as determined by DICE and EA and as long as they are explicitly announced in the server description or on the loading screen, so that players joining the server are aware of them before they start playing.
Now, how-the-** are they going to put all those new "possible" rules in the loading screen? My questions have started turning to "how do you know when this stuff is actually being applied? One day, the rules are one thing, then one day they could be something else...or you could get reported by some 12 yro admin that says you were doing something against the server rules, has screen shots, but that 12 yro admin leaves out the listed rules on that server the minute you were playing?
I don't see anywhere in this list that along with screenshots, you have to show a screen shot of you warning the player!
Here I have another quote for you:
3.2.1 Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their score ("stats padding") and Server administrators may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.
This would include but not limited to:
(d) Playing on “High Points” Servers
Now, does this get superceded by this:
1.4 Maps
1.4.1 Custom maps are never permitted on ranked servers, although we do permit map sizes to be defined independently of maximum players.
What are the safeguards to protect players and their stats from getting hurt by discrepencies?Leave a comment:

The rules have to be listed either in the welcome screen or in-game I believe. If the server doesn't run the optional rules which aren't new btw, for the most part they were all in the old ROE, then obviously you won't be kicked or reported even if there were no admins present. But by the looks of it, these people who can't read will probably start reporting people for jihad jeeping even though a server might not have that as an "in house server rule"
If a server doesn't run an uncap rule for example, then obviously you can attack the uncaps. A player won't be able to report you for attacking the uncap and get your stats wiped. That is the most rediculous thing I have heard in this discussion. People worrying about their damn stats.
People seriously need to read over this ROE again and slowly and obviously let it sink in because 90% of the people in this thread who have commented failed comprehension miserably.
This latest ROE is either an example that DICE/EA can't write a clear concise document that doesn't cause any confusion or the BF2 community is a bunch of retards who can't read and comprehend anything other than who they killed on screen.Leave a comment:

Re: New Rules Discussion
IndianScout...
I need to ask a question. Are these rules enforceble on servers were there are no admins and no rules? Example, Insomnia servers. Almost never is an admin present. But if someone TKs another player for a tank, is it a ROE violation even if the server does not list/enforce rules? I understand these rules to be optional. What is the standing on this? Can these rules be enforced when they are not listed as rules of the server?
I believe this is where a big confuse is at. And please, don't paste in some quote from the ROE rules like you always do. Straight English without the Legalise.Leave a comment:

Interesting rules but essentially flawed. Why is it a problem to attack uncappable? Tell them to get the heck out of there instead. Cap flags without engaging the enemy? Tell them to start defending their stuff. All these rules are only trying to stop gap a poor game design in the first place. And thats why they won't work. The fewer rules a server has for this, the better. Now, are these general rules or just for your servers?
I meet servers where you are forbidden to use claymores, where only spec ops are allowed to enter the base, and not steal any vehicle, but blow up stuff and bla bla bla. Its just too much hassle.
On some maps, like Surge, the game is so tilted against the insurgents that doing uncappable raids is actually the best shot you have at winning. See if you can nick the Tunguska or steal a tank of theirs, make sure the chopper doesn't lift off for another spawn cycle is pretty crucial.
I see where this is coming from, because I would love if the game had mechanics agains these things, but it doesn't because it has many design problems. The reason people tk for vehicles? Because they are too good. Make them less good. The reason people cap flags without fighting over them? Because BF2s age old lame conquest mode is so stupid and boring. Dice spend all this time making poor patches, but not actually giving us some variations in game modes, so that random capping would be pointless.
Uncapable bases being attacked? Give them more. You should make sure that uncapbable bases always have a few spawn different spawn points so people can select to spawn farther away if some dirtbag is trying to rape the spawn zone.
C4 ramming? Well, its a legit tactic isn't it? The tactic is rather useless in long term, since you get so few points relatively. I think the only reason people really do it is because of the lame Vet and Expert explosives badges requirements.
All in all, the giving your teamplayer TK / grief by standing in the way is probably the one I think is about the only rule you should enforce.Leave a comment:

Actually, I did understand that. I just think that, given those server side options already exist, this isn't really providing anything new, and it is more likely to cause division than it is to actually solve any problem.Originally posted by <<R2>>Capt.HKSSection

Wow talk about melodrama, if only you people could read!
What everyone is complaining about is something they think is against the ROE across the board when in fact its not. The rules that you are all crying about for the most part were in the old ROE, which nobody could ever seem to read that or the new ROE either. They are optional not mandatory. They are not for all ranked servers.
Section
2.3.2 Allowed “In-House” Ranked Server Rules:
Obviously you all need this explained to you. This means that servers can run these rules if they choose to. They are merely example of rules that are deemed acceptable for Private Ranked servers "IF THEY CHOOSE TO USE THEM"!

Re: New Rules Discussion
Reasonable, however, what are the consequences? Stats being reset? If so, that is way too harsh and it is very difficult to prove or report such violation, especially when teamkilling is one of the staple phenemonens of team FPS gaming. I highly doubt this part, if it will be a rule, can be enforced by EA and admins simply because it is widespread, subtle, and part of the gray area where the victim and the plaintiff have two different stories, both being valid and need attention to before appropriate actions should take place.Teamkilling for vehicles and Teamkilling
(c) Players may not deliberately performing actions that hinder their own team (such as last-minute team-swapping to increase scores or statistics, excessive team-killing, destroying friendly vehicles, attacking team-mates,
Although nice if such rule can be implemented and enforced, I highly doubt this rule will be effective with reasons above.Standing on the runway because you didnt get the aircraft
Deliberately placing themselves in a situation so they cause another player to team-kill them, using a vehicle while being the Commander that prevents them from performing any Commander functions (jet, etc.) or placing vehicles to block their own runways.
Bad idea, despite the fact that this will provide the losing team a chance of rekindling momentum against the opposition, hence maintaining the challenge of both sides, such restrictive rule on such events that happen almost in every servers will hamper the experience of most BF2 players. All of us will become the victim and beneficiary of this rule, but most will stress themselves as being the victim. Expect large numbers of otherwise fair players to be kicked out of ranked servers if this rule is approved.(d) Making attacks on enemy main bases (flags that cannot be captured), including artillery strikes, vehicle drops to block runways, bombing runs with aircraft or sustained infantry attacks. (Note that specific attacks targeting the enemy commander’s asset buildings are always allowed, even if they are within the enemy main base.)
This contradicts the concept that capturing flags is the key to winning the game. Is BF2's main gameplay mode Conquest, where the idea is for each team has to capture flags while engaging enemies time to time to do so, or a Team Deathmatch where flags are employed to let players spawn closer to the "hot spots"? Should pilots of these helicopters decide that they will need to transport his or her passengers to where at least one enemy is present just to prevent them being labled "exploiters" as this rule implies or select the safest route possible to capture all the flags and win?(e) Using transport helicopters to quickly capture all flags with no attempt to engage the other team (flag hopping).
The use of using transports as kamikaze vehicles exemplifies the freedom Battlefield 2 offers. This tactic is known by every average BF2 player and I believe it's safe to say everyone of these players have used such tactic. This rule should not be approved as it restricts the freedom of BF2 players (freedom as in doing anything legally) while killing a widely used, yet not overused nor exploited tactic that improves the gameplay of this game. This and the two previous rules will become an icon of how restrictive Battlefield 2 is and displays how BFROE and DICE are out of touch of how BF2 players play and expect of this game.(f) Using C4 explosives on fast-moving vehicles to destroy other vehicles (C4-ramming)
Personally, if these rules are allowed in ranked servers, even if the admins have the option to employ them or not, I will severely lose faith in both DICE and BFROE.Leave a comment:
