So if any political party with power can change the constitution, why is it so important?

Britain has the Magna Carta, which is similar, apart from it hasnt been changed in nearly 800 years, and i regard the fact that a King's man cant take my horse very special, but i wouldnt fight for it.
Wow... I don't think you could misunderstand the US constitution any more if you tried.

The fact that you can change the constitution doesnt mean that you can repeal things from it.

^^^ I guess this is what seperates Americans from Brits, and is probably why we won our fight for independence. case closed.

The constitution was a document created when the United states was formed in the late 18th century. However, the original document can be amended by clauses passed by the executive/legislature/judiciary of the day, such as the 18th Amendment passing prohibition or the 19th Amendment giving women the vote. Good enough?

Are you trying to say that amendments passed since dont contradict the constitution and therefore nullify some of it?

And actually, is the right to bear arms not an amendment to the constitution? In the same way that prohibition was an amendment and was later repealed.

Not quite… do you have any idea how hard it is to change the constitution? 2/3rds vote in both houses of congress AND 2/3 of all state legislatures have to agree. That is a lot of politicians… This 200 year old document works so well because it can be changed, but only if a huge majority of the populace agrees. It is likely one of the best written documents in the history of man.

So when a small but influential group of Americans wanted prohibition imposed, they actually needed the support of the majority of the populace?

If you hadn't guessed already, im a history student :) It's one of the things ive studied. And anyway, its an example of a small group of people managing to get the constitution changed against the will of the majority. It's also an example of something which was added to the constitution being repealed, which could happen to the right to bear arms one day.

The Da Vinci thing was a joke... :)

Aside from the fact that violence doesnt solve anything and gun ownership shouldnt be encouraged, i'd definitely go for the L96 bolt action sniper rifle. man i could listen to that sweet echo all day...

I heard they have the same **** over Australia aswell. However, Ive heard that Canada DOES allow airsofting, but they have put some taxes on the rifles and some regulations on the metal parts. Correct me if Im wrong. I do know you guys paintball, and most of my Kanucki buddies envy me for being able to airsoft.

Walker, only a moron would take airsoft to the streets. The educated, mature and responsible people carry their stuff concealed, to the "playground" and use them there .
