All Ranked BF2 servers are crashing massively... We have to wait on EA/DICE to fix it...

I don't know... I'm banning 10+ a day for glitching... With the PB Screenshots when we look at them, its obvious when they are inside it... They then get banned if they did not immediately while in the hotel... But they still get banned... Sooner or later...

You have to understand... Over 500,000 people (Thats a half a million or, 1/2 million, or .5 million however you want to say it) connect to our servers a month. We have the Number 1 ranked server in the world, and another one which IIRC is in the top 10.

If you have screenshots of anyone glitching, or otherwise breaking our rules you can send them to us, and action will be taking immediately.

We also almost always have BF2 Admins on our ventrilo server. If you connect to that, you could even use the chat feature if you do not have mic to let us know of the problem...

Please read my last post...it gives you 5 ways to contact us/me personally if you don't see an admin ingame. Be aware as well, we have many Alt accounts our admins use to catch glitchers that otherwise would know an admin when they saw them by name.

craig, i have spent a lot of time reading today, for obvious reasons. this thread has been most insightful. somehow i've managed to miss this thread, for the last week (working long hours). thank you, i plan on adding your servers to my favorites.

Problems after patches will remain as long as EA is so paranoid about their products and won't let the public do any beta testing, just like it has been done with the UT2004 server binaries. There was a mailing list everyone could subscibe to if he wanted to test UT2004 betas AFAIK.

Yep, that's what I would do if I was the Project Lead, release the patch a week before to the public for 'beta' testing.

Quake Wars looks good, but again, not revolutionary. I know where my money is going in november, Nintendo Wii, F**K sony with all there technology just to glamour things up. I want something revolutionary, and thats nintendo!!!

That Wii controller looks kewl. Can't wait to sword fight. Lucas said that they are considering coming out with a "Lightsabre duel" game...

That would sell consoles like hotcakes, because eventhough I have a Xbox360, I would still buy a Wii JUST to do "Lightsabre duels" with my friends.

well they are working, but i have just realised that i cannot play 64player maps. after pressing the join now button it CTD's. i hadnt played any big maps in a while, so i was not aware of this issue yet. guess i might have to bump my settings even lower to play on 64's, because that's what i had to do after patching to play in 32's. thanx EA

Do not use the 'Join' button...instead just double click on the server you'd like to join...that seems to help keep the CTD's down to a minimum

i double clicked your server in my favorites, i am referring to the join now button after loading a map.

this also happens on USI mod servers with 32 players. no coop in vanilla, great patch...

It's quite obvious that this patch was not ready to go. I know for a fact many of the GSP's advised strongly against releasing it just yet as it was not at all stable and/or ready to be distributed to the public.

Yet you (EA/Dice) insisted pushing this out the door. And for what? Coop? Humvee air drops? Squad jumping? While the server builds have been unstable since day one and the red name bug has yet to be solved you give us this patch that could very well be the end of BF2 for our community?

Meanwhile, GSP's are reporting mass cancelations of public ranked servers due to server instablility (read: CRASHES), CAL teams are disbanding over the squad jumping fix(which in our opinion is an exploit and SHOULD have been changed a long time ago) and seem to look the other way and talk up BF2142 at every opportunity (anyone notice the E3 coverage?).

I have a very strong opinion that we may see a hotfix for this patch but that EA is about ready to wash their hands clean of BF2 in any way, shape or form of support and continued patches and turn all of their efforts over to BF2142. What else can we assume given this turn of events? How does the past 6 months worth of patches make it look like you at all care about the game server hosts and providers when you have yet to fix the biggest issue on everyone's box...crashes.

Before you assume I'm just some random intraweb troll who just wants to vent (which I may be I guess but I digress...) take a look at the servers we host @ strafeRight. Our 24/7 Karkand is the #1 ranked server in the world according to Game Monitor and our 24/7 City Maps is ranked #9 as of this morning (click on 'server list' in my sig). We're serious gamers and have proven that we have a formula for building and maintaining great communities and server atmospheres across game platforms and gametypes (CS, CSSource, WoW, CoH/V). But it is our only choice if we don't see some serious support, and soon, to discontinue supporting this game...and completely abandoning BF2142 before it even happens.

Now that's not a threat...we're just a blip on the radar, I understand, but if I'm willing to take such measures (and believe me, I'm a very patient man) it is a safe bet so are many, many other hosts/communities. If you turn the hosts against you by lack of server support you're going to turn away a vast majority of FPS gamers that rely on said hosts to have servers up to play on.

I hope this finds its way to the right people because when it works, BF2 is a great game, possibly one of the 10 best FPS games in history given the vast gameplay experience and competitive feel. We'd love to host servers for this game for years to come but at this rate, we cannot justify the resources to support a game that makes our servers look bugged and our community wanting more from their experience...especially with things like UT and Quake Wars around the corner.
