Re: Instantly switching positions in vehicles should be nerfed

Ah the old, "I argue that arguing is useless" card. Well you're right. I say we should turn all these debates into big betting pools where people put money on whether or not these changes take place.

Well, the whiners have been getting what they want time after time... so I'll put some money on them.

How about "admitted" your point? You know you got the truth, but that doesn't give you good reason to spoil some good clean fun.

          Edit: Thirty Americain on no-nerf.

Re: Instantly switching positions in vehicles should be nerfed

I'm kind of split on the matter. There's a few trivial "exploits" like being able to swap miniguns on the BH when one overheats, switching guns on the jeeps for the same purpose, switching to the 50. cal on jeeps when you see someone, and the worst one of all, staying in the air indefinitly with the attack choppers to gun whoever is below you. There are caveats though, you have to have a good pilot in order to swap miniguns effectively (in that case you might as well have two gunners), sitting in the 50. cal makes you a sitting duck to snipers plus the gun overheats very quickly, and the attack chopper will spin wildly which makes it a bit useless unless you're using the mi-28's uber cannon. In conclusion, I think that switching seats instantly has no real effect on gameplay as there's checks and balances present to keep them from being abused.

EDIT: moterboat, you would not believe how many guys I've killed that were manning the 50. cal in a jeep. It's really not that big of a deal. The best thing you can do is just run up to them so they can't aim at you. However, the vodniks have a blind spot in the back so you can toss a grenade into the jeep and blow the gunners legs off!

No problem man. Let me try to get this back on topic by saying that changes should not be made purely for the sake of realism, which should stay at the relative level of whatever was initially released. I personally don't think there's much reason to change for balance. Anti-tank kit can be super-effective against these vehicles, + all the other reasons already stated

Re: Instantly switching positions in vehicles should be nerfed

Everyone would like to change the game to suit thier needs, me included. The reality is that if that happened we would at some point end up with an unplayable game.

I would like aircraft (overall) to be nerfed to some degree because I get sick of being on servers that are dominated by dropping bombs and helo fire.

Well....obviously this shouldn't be changed because even though I don't like it sometimes, its part of what makes BF2 so good.

Solo people in jeeps are VERY easy to deal with. Simply go AT and blow them up. On the flip side the solo guy in the jeep can deal with AT folks easily by gunning them down....see how it works .....there is always a ballance factor built in, so on one hand you pound on your desk because you get killed, and on the other hand you jump for joy when you get the upper hand.

Live with the game the way it is because it works

All these usless suggestions and "nerfings" will make BF2 worse. Soon we'll end up with a turn-based game, all because a couple of n00bs can't handle the intensity.

Yeah it is balanced, and whichever side shows greater reflexes, or manuevering, or planning, or whatever is going to win.

Re: Instantly switching positions in vehicles should be nerfed

I knew this was gonna happen.
I believe that the original intent of the next patch was to make it so if you are solo and switch seats the missles wouldnt loose thier lock, which they do now. I believe seat switching is a skill and should remain in the game, it just shouldnt cause you to loose your lock.
As far as the land based vehicles, in thier current state if you get in an empty Humvee you are put into the drivers seat. Currently there is no way to jump into the gunners position. There have been many times that Ive wanted to catch a ride to the next flag but didnt want to take the tank just to get there, so I had to wait for the driver to get in so I could get in the gunners position. If I had got in the tank first, the other player wouldnt have gotten in.
Just as Ive said many times before, and I know others hold the same opinion. This, the current version, isnt the game I bought in July. I dont think that I would buy this one. EA, Give me my game back.
In the begining, when I started playing this game (in June), I down loaded the demo. I remember thinking that this game was just to hard, I wont play it any more. So every time I started my computer I would try the demo again and it was still very hard but I some how couldnt stop playing. After about a month I went and bought 2 copies, one for each of my computers, of vanilla BF2. I had to buy 2 because I had got tired of waiting my turn to play after my sons got through. I did the same thing with special forces and euro force, and probably will with armored fury. So my opinion, if we use the same line of reasoning most here use, is twice as important as anyone elses. (If you believe that I have a deed to the Golden gate bridge Id like to sell you)

So I guess the short version is this, fix the bugs not the game play. The announced changes for the next patch seem to be in line with the other patches. Everyone should just spend some time to learn to play the game, as it is, I did. Can you, do you have what it takes? Really. . . . . . .Red

Oh, one last thought, maybe they should remove the enemy troops. They keep killing me and its not fair. . . . . . .LOL
