We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
You make it sound like squad hopping has been the topic of public scrutiny since the game came out. Show me a thread about it previous to last week please.
You just made the best argument to support the fact that EA didn't intend this as a feature.
Everyone thought is was just part of the game for the longest time.
Last week someone happened to spark a debate on it (who knows, maybe they had insight on the patch) and BOOM...it became a pretty huge debate all of a sudden because a large portion on the cummunity said...gee that is a pretty gay exploit and the other half went It's a legit tactic that's been in the game since the beginning.
Now...EA has included a change for this in the biggest patch to date. Seems to me they've had this one on the back burner for some time.
IMHO it goes along with adjusting their vision of the game.

I did start a thread a couple months ago or so on the topic. I was basicly trying to get an idea of how the community would react if this change was implemented. The result was much as you'd expect... it degenerated very quickly.
:p
On a slight curveball... There's another issue that folks haven't seem to caught yet that is likely to cause yet another uproar.
- fixed bug where helicopters abandoned in the air would continue to fly
On the surface this looks like no big deal, right?
Think about it for a sec, tho. Abandoned = no pilot. The engines on choppers don't start up when there's only a gunner in the bird.
Solo choppers are gonna be sucking a lot of dirt, it seems.
How the **** was that a bug? The blades kept spinning therefore the chopper continued to rise. How do you code a 'bug' like that? And you can still solo chopper, it will just be a tad harder. So it will just fall down? Ok the, get really high and launch one out.

Your right Wargimp I missed that curveball.
Looks like a fix for breaking the AA lock on an attack chopper if it is the case that you switch seats and the engine cuts out and gravity takes over.

It's a nerf wrapped in a nice fuzzy psudo-fix.
Even in the real world, if you lose power in a chopper it goes into autorotation and you float to the ground, not fall like a brick. Even if you're out of fuel.

yup, should still be doable, but all the altitude required to pull it off will cut down on it's effective range, drasitcly. It's also likely to make you a damned fine target for AA.
Ok the, get really high and launch one out.
My mind is in the gutter today and comments like this ain't helpin.
:p
Awesome, a whole thread, yea this was a REAL hot topic, and surprisingly enough, it is by the most vocal person still going on about it, hmmmm...this definitely indicates that the majority of players hate it.
About the chopper thing, if you are in the gunner seat, the vehicle is still occupied, not abandoned. Imagine a full Blackhawk and the pilot ejects, and nobody notices, than instead of it spinning upward giving someone time to recover it, it drops into a freefall into the earth, not a smart move really, IF this is what they are implying.

What makes me think that this is a thinly vieled solo chopper nerf is that if you get into an unocupied chopper the engines start up as soon as you're in the pilot's seat. If you switch positions without leaving the ground, they shut down.
If Dice is "course correcting" BF2's gameplay, it seems to me that this would be on the chopping block too. Definalty more complaining about solo choppers than squad system abuse.
The posting of that 1.3 change log violates the NDA, and from my sources at EA is not correct in it's information either...
Good thing I didn't sign any NDA, eh?
Their betas are so leaky, you could use 'em to drain pasta. :p
Every you dropped a perty good bomb 'bout the sqyad system changes before this leak came out.
EA really shouldn't be so damned tight lipped about patch tweaks. If they were more open about it, they might just get more useful feedback from the community. We're going to speculate, generate rumors, and get information anyway... if it was officalised there'd be more chance to capitalise on that.

That was the funniest thing I have read throughout this entire topic. Marry me, Wargimp.
