Looks cool, but, after watching it a bit, it looks like there may be a hit detection problem. Well, compared to other new games, which (in my opinion) try to push the limits so far that they find themselves in net-smoothness disasters (*cough* BF1942 *cough* Joint Ops), it's not a problem, but to CS's smooth online play it would be. You can see it on italy where the CT is firing the MP5 at the terrorist. He shoots the Terrorist, goes to reload, and THEN you see the bullet hit the terrorist in the head and, after quite a noticable delay, die. I know CS players wouldn't stand for this. Hell, I'd go right back to CS in a jippy without even thinking twice about it if there were hit detection problems like this. Could be wrong though, but I don't play games where you have to take leads that stretch over even a few inches.
So many new games over-do the muzzle flash thing b/c "it looks cool". Sad thing is, it ends up hurting my eyes so much that I can't play the game(s).
SALAMIjedi wrote..Yeah I never said CS2 was CS:Source. I was just refering to CS2's release being similar in repects to HL2's melancholy.
from what i've gathered:
Counter-Strike 2 will be a completely different game from HL2. Same engine yes. but different game rules and probably physics.
there was the analogy CS : HL :: CS2 : HL2!!! WRONG !!! CZ : HL :: CS2 : HL2!!! CORRECT !!! DING DING DING DING
CS2 will be like the Condition Zero (without the crappiness). it will probably have a indepth experience and powerful story, that works like the "deleted scenes". You will probably take the role of a Counter-Terrorist set to stop a Terrorist Faction. It might be the Single Player action CSPlayers have been looking for. A mix of Rainbow Six and Half-Life with superb graphics! im looking foward to it a lot.
pepsi2069 wrote..u got a good point, but what's the point in releasing the same game again.. if u dont like it when it comes out there is still CS 1.5/1.6 to play.
Looks pretty sweet.... only problem I forsee is in creating a more realistic atmosphere, they are getting rid of the bright lighting that made almost every area of the map viewable and therefor able to contain leveled battles. With the new source engine, it seems there are an abundance of areas that seem very able to hide bitchass campers extremely well. The basic level design of CS is part of what makes it great, but the level designers seem to be a bit excted about using this new engine and in my opinion, are adding a bit too much. Same with the new muzzle flash, that thing was enormous! You'd have to be back a good couple meters from the corner to be able to take someone out w/out giving away your position from miles away with that thing. The levels will hardly play the same anymore with these new graphical (and in turn, effectively creating gameplay) "improvements".....
Don't get me wrong, I'm still shittting my pants over this new footage, I'm simply a little weary to see how much this graphical improvement will change my beloved CS.

Hi,
I have a few things to say about CS: Source.
First, I think that the physics aspect of CS:S will improve the game visually but it might not improve gameplay that much. Think about it: if you get Terrorists blocking entrances and creating barricades with tables, chairs and other objects then the CTs will have a VERY hard time getting to their objective. Also, dust and debris flying off bullet holes or from explosions might impair the vision or line of fire of the Ts or CTs.
Second, the graphics will ROCK but I really hope that Valve allows users to tone down graphics so that CS:S can run on slow systems.
Third, I hope that the new CS:S maps that the CS team will put out won't be too massive. That might blow the fun aspect of CS, but maps that are a bit bigger or have better planned layouts would be good too.
Enough of the reasons why, I believe that CS: Source will simply ROCK and I really hope that the rumor that CS: Source will be available to people who buy HL2 is true.

GameHopper wrote..Large maps don't need to play large... Railroad got it wrong by being too large while feeling small - until you went round the next corner. It's perfectly possible to make large maps with the same simplicity/complexity and tightness as the current CS maps. Atmosphere people, atmosphere.
