well.. like most of us players did after the recent and past so called "improvements" to CS 1.6 (which wasn't that hard), I guess the new changes in CS:S (which was bound to happen without a question) will require some getting used to.
Looks pretty sweet.... only problem I forsee is in creating a more realistic atmosphere, they are getting rid of the bright lighting that made almost every area of the map viewable and therefor able to contain leveled battles. With the new source engine, it seems there are an abundance of areas that seem very able to hide bitchass campers extremely well. The basic level design of CS is part of what makes it great, but the level designers seem to be a bit excted about using this new engine and in my opinion, are adding a bit too much. Same with the new muzzle flash, that thing was enormous! You'd have to be back a good couple meters from the corner to be able to take someone out w/out giving away your position from miles away with that thing. The levels will hardly play the same anymore with these new graphical (and in turn, effectively creating gameplay) "improvements".....
Don't get me wrong, I'm still shittting my pants over this new footage, I'm simply a little weary to see how much this graphical improvement will change my beloved CS.
I'm actually more worried about CS:S being "too" much like the CS we all play now. For me, I want more of something new added to CS:S... (although I have a full option to play another game out there that would surely solve my problem of wanting to play something "new"...)
and oh.. BTW.. my two thumbs and two big toes up to Valve!Comment

did no-one else notice the lag on the player names, on italy when he does the weapon bounce, watch the name of the T he kills, it seems to flash 0.3secs after he has moved, so you see the name of where he was, dont like that
also the models look wierd, but will be easier to hit his head, just aim between the shoulders instead of above, LOL
one thing i didnt like about CS:S was they have tried to update Havana, when all htey needed todo to make it better would be remove that shmitComment

Agreed. Usually all I see come out of the barrel is the bullet and a few puffs of smoke. If I do see a flash, it's going to be a few inches from the end of the barrel.
it looks awesome but the muzzle flashes have to go. im no expert but the mp5 doesnt really double as a flame thrower right?Comment

Looks cool, but, after watching it a bit, it looks like there may be a hit detection problem. Well, compared to other new games, which (in my opinion) try to push the limits so far that they find themselves in net-smoothness disasters (*cough* BF1942 *cough* Joint Ops), it's not a problem, but to CS's smooth online play it would be. You can see it on italy where the CT is firing the MP5 at the terrorist. He shoots the Terrorist, goes to reload, and THEN you see the bullet hit the terrorist in the head and, after quite a noticable delay, die. I know CS players wouldn't stand for this. Hell, I'd go right back to CS in a jippy without even thinking twice about it if there were hit detection problems like this. Could be wrong though, but I don't play games where you have to take leads that stretch over even a few inches.
So many new games over-do the muzzle flash thing b/c "it looks cool". Sad thing is, it ends up hurting my eyes so much that I can't play the game(s).Comment

Sad thing about that is that it's probably on LAN and not the net, so it's not the ping. Hopefully, if there is a bug, it'll be fixed before it's released. Maybe it was just a glitch in demo recording. Who knows?

I love how all of you are pre-judging the game from a random demo.
Theres noway a finished-product game will consistently play like a 300-ping. So stop griping and just wait till it comes out. I can assure those are just errors with the server/demo playback, and not an integral part of the gameplay...the lag that is.Comment
