Yeah I never said CS2 was CS:Source. I was just refering to CS2's release being similar in repects to HL2's melancholy.
yeah i kno im just saying CS2 will defintely not be free

large maps doesnt necessarily mean horizontal ;-p heck an expanded vertigo could show up!

however i think they are going to keep the maps small, but individual mappers are allowed to do w/e.

Question: Is CS Source officially the multiplayer part of Half Life 2? Will we have to buy both HL2 and CSS? Just wondering''

I think the larger map limits will allow custom map makers to do more creative things. Just an example: I don't remember the name, but there's a custom map out for CS that puts the two teams in a car chase situation (and doesn't do a bad job, I might add). This map would work much better with bigger room to work with (and of course the new vehicle code). Furthermore, the "jungle" theme the map has won't look so shoddy and you could have real terrain to ride on. I'd expect to see a map with airplanes or something in CS Source :P

CS:S is NOT HL2 multiplayer, its basically the next major update of CS. If you buy HL2, CS:S will be free. Otherwise, I'm going to assume(and this is totally my opinion wiht no facts to back it up) that it will also be available through retail and steam if you choose not to purchase HL2 for some weird reason.

Me having to play Tides to finish CZ SP wasn't fair either, but it happened.

So then whats the multiplayer aspect of HL2? I was under the assumption CSS was going to come as the multiplayer for HL2, and all the fans of HLDM were kinda pissed about it. I personally like that idea.

large maps will suck... they tried it with DE_Railroad (i think that's the name) if anyone remembers that.

I dont think the physics will do much in CS:Source.. in the current CS u can still push tables in doorways if the mappers choose to do so. Usually the physics gimmicks deal with shooting at an object and having that object fall or kill the opponent... which would be kinda stupid in a game like CS..
dude, the physics aren't just moving tables...they're for a lot of things..like throwing watermelons. lol, but the player physics are awesome, like in cs 1.6 when you kill someone in mid air, they will just stop in mid air and fall to the ground. when you kill someone in cs:source i can't explain it but it's just realistic, that's all. and that's what valve is aiming for, realism. oh and the chairs and pushable stuff in half-life now are just horrible and no matter what the table stays in the exact position, you can't turn the table around or anything like you can in half-life 2. i also think that large maps will be a lot cooler as there will be more places to use strategies and it's not just "rush that way" every time you play a certain map.

i hope there's HLDM, CS isn't everyones thing even though a majority of people play it. the fact that no one has actually seen a Gordan model also could support the fact that there may be no HLDM, which saddens me. unless valve is just being secretive about the whole gordan model.

                    Just my 2 cents.

I think CS: Source is a step in the right direction. To my knowledge, I know that they aren't adding any new guns or gameplay content, but the whole look of the game makes it feel new again. I think that if valve tried to change or add onto the basic concept of CS, then it would destroy the game. Sure there are shields and auto sniper rifles, but the core gameplay is still there (and please don't say CS?! YOU MEAN AWPSTRIKE!?? :p )

Like I said above, the difference is that u can reorient the table.. but it's still a gimmick.. unless u can strip all the wood and build your own wall and set it on fire... that would be neat..

on large maps: i think CS is a elite counter terrorism game, not full fledge battlefield 1942 war.. larger is not always better.

i cant wait to see some intense fy_* maps for CS:Source :P

The creator of CS is left handed, thus left handed models remain!

I'm sure we'll see them in CS2 as well.

You seem to have confused the words 'gimmick' and 'neat'.

Moving the table is neat. Being able get a table, strip its wood, construct a wall and setting it alight would be a gimmick, as would being able to tear down the wallpaper and construct small origami replicas or the gun you're holding, or cutouts to fool the enemy...
