    Pubs are the answer.
No, because this is both in pubs and in matches. Everyone buys the same 3 weapons (m4, ak, awp) and its not very amusing to know thats all you're ever up against.

BTW, to extend on my previous post. Either between making the money harder to get or here's another one, go off round by round. By lowering the max amount of money allocated, you make it so that one team can't win financially because they have $16,000. Once they lose, they have to work for their money. When you let a person have $16,000, you let them buy a M4 and armor for the next 4 rounds or so, even if they lose. Make it so if they lose, they have 1 round to win again before they have to resort to using SMGs.

      CS Changes

With the new year comes, apparently, some very interesting changes to Counter-Strike as a whole. In a quote from Erik Johnson:
There will be some changes to the Counter-Strike money system on the 14th of January that should address some of the issues raised here.

We're still working out the specifics, but the intention is to make the tactic of waiting for the round to end on the T side a disincentive.

We'll also change the round timer to shut off once the bomb has been planted on de_ maps.

      Erik Johnson

Things are now going to be very interesting in the future of CS. For those who don't understand the comment on the bomb, the idea is that even if there isn't enough time left in the round for the bomb to go off, the bomb can still be planted and the round timer will be replaced with a c4 timer. As for the other issue, here's the article in question regarding the want for money system changes.

Either way, I agree, it bothers me as well that a "pro" player can get his way by just writing a rant about "counter-strike dying" and having it posted on gotfrag.
        Agreed.

CS will die someday, that is a given. Just in my opinion, Pro's and their wanna-be clones might be rushing CS to an early end. It's all about attitude and treatment of their fellow players. It becomes a giant turn off.

        Back on topic.

Like I said in the past keep the cash change small. Though I do like the C4 timer. Get tired of CT's running away to hide or camping outside the site waiting. Now they need to step in and die.

Valve makes all their decsions carefully.. why would they do something they knew would turn people off from cs. This may be a good idea, well see. It will take time adjusting. There are millions (maybe) of us non pro cal-i people and only a few thousand (maybe) pro dudes and apparently in their 10,000 hours of plays they may have found something to improve.

There were a lot of people on GotFrag and the Steam forums who supported this change, I among them. In fact, the only people who didn't agree were the idiots who only wanted the 1.3 physics back (a.k.a. retards).

It's not just some pro player bitching - It's that the money system on de_maps needs work. The CT objective is to make sure the sites don't get blown up, and if they do then they shouldn't get penalized for completing the objective rather than killing all the Ts. This may not make a big difference on pubs, but I'd like to be able to buy at least a FAMAS after WINNING the first round.

Switching to the c4 timer is also a good idea because it gives Ts an opportunity to plant the bomb with only a few seconds left rather than camping it out - then any a CT camping with his prized Colt would be more motivated to actually go and defuse the bomb. The way it is now only gives you [Round Timer - Bomb Timer] to complete the objective, and then it becomes just a shootout or camp-out. It would be nice if teams actually ran gunning for each other, but more often than not, they camp.

if you consider that the current money situation (CTs getting less money for not killing all Ts) on de_ maps is a bug (money system is punishing players as if they were playing a cs_ map). Then this is a bug fix which cant be bad :)

GJ on stereotyping. I wish 1.3 physics were back because people who hated them were generally those who couldn't aim. Now they get free kills because everyone is stuck sitting still when shooting. Good job on nerfing the game in skillless players favors. (oh wow, that stereotyping sounds just like you). Before calling people retards, look in the mirror and compare results. Just because one person wants it one way and you want it another, doesn't mean they are retarded.

BTW, half the community is still split on the bunnyhopping.

has anyone even tried bunny hopping? even for 15 sec it get tiring. unrealistic. if valve wanted they could eliminate jumping all together. i never had a problem with the money system or the round timer.

My main thoughts? I'm not too happy since it now sets a precedent - If you're a popular cs "PRO GAMER", you can get your way by writing a rant about how "COUNTER-STRIKE IS DYING ITS NOT FUN". Course, we've seen the same rants since CS' inception in 1999, but the game has only done the opposite and grown more.
This change is NEEDED. It's not a change for 'pro gamers' it's a change for anyone who plays scrims/matches, which is thousands of people, the people who stay the longest and are most dedicated to the game. If some people who play on pubs leave, good. There are thousands upon thousands of 24/7DustAztec players to replace you. Finally, the competitive players are getting a change when everything has been changed for those 24/7DustAztec players in the past. None of the competitive players wanted the jumping changed, bunnyhopping removed, the +3 frags, the mp5 weakened, the shield, yet they were all put in. So let us have one, please?

Besides, this is a good change for the pubs too; it's going to make the game faster paced. I once saw an admin on a pub slay a CT who was camping because the T planted with like 29 seconds left.

Think about it, there's going to be very little saveround camping, it's going to be all rushes because there's nothing to gain from NOT planting the bomb. This is probably the best change made to cs ever.

                      lopinboy wrote..

I agree and disagree with the idea of changing the money system. However, I don't see how a timeout win hurts the CTs any, because most times they know the Ts are going to save if they lose the first round, meaning they'll save as well, which makes them able to easily afford armor, m4, ammo, he, flash, and a kit, whereas Ts get stuck with just a galil and armor if even that.

I'd like to see money much harder to get. Instead of $2500 for a win elimination, make it $500, and instead of $2750 for doing the objective, make it $1000. This would truly stop lots of gun whoring in the game and people would be thinking "Well, should I buy a AWP and take a chance of losing it and not having enough money to buy another rifle the next round or should I buy a famas and have the money there incase we lose this round." Make it impossible for someone to buy an AR every round of the game even if they win. Heck, this might even make teamwork more needed. And for all you awp-whiners, it would make awp harder to buy, along with all the other rifles.
                      No.

now, i for one try to stay away from thoes three weapons, granted that they are the three best in the game, i try to use te MP5 or the Tmp as my primary weapon. when i'm playing on a lan game, or online for that matter, When the round starts (depending on how much money i have) i buy armor, the deagle and maby a 'nade. you know that the other 4 -8 people on you team are gonna buy the more expencive guns, y not just just go in style and start cappin with the deagle? if you want fire power pick up what someone else dropped and save your money. My personal combo is the MP5 for when you need the auto function and the deagle for when your camping, or need more of a punch. I agree, it is frustrating to compete aginst people with the same set up. i run into game that end up being AWP fights with both teams camping. Counter strike was not made to be a Sniper game with one hit kills. if that what you want to do then find another game. CS was made to be an in your face tactical game(with a whole lot of killing).

I like the idea with the money how T's will be discouraged to camping because the CT's will get more money.

But I dont like the idea of the c4 timing being changed. Its going to draw out rounds alot more now and slow the pace down way more then it is now.

I think the pace of the game is great now. But now T's could plant when theres 1 second left. Might add a little drama but I dont think its needed.

But again, its a change, adapt and play.
