Wow. This really will make some huge waves in the community. Also makes it worth planting when round timer is less than the c4 timer.

I agree, I don't like it very much either, because now it'll probably be the Ts who camp and plant at the last second rather than as it is now with Ts hunting down the last CT. Course, with this new bomb timer thrown in things will be interesting.
all these changes because some "pro" player whined.....whatever :/
Either way, I agree, it bothers me as well that a "pro" player can get his way by just writing a rant about "counter-strike dying" and having it posted on gotfrag.{O.L.B}Zorro wrote..
Well, it adds a different element to the game when a round can still be won by a terrorist and he doesn't have to run and try to hide for 35 seconds to keep his gun, or the CT's don't have to run and hide and try to win the round.
where was the c4-timer/roundtime change needed for :/ ?
I suppose it's not too late to stop it - you guys have just as much of a voice as the esports cs community, so go make a post on the steam forums.Comment

how about you just not and say we did :P
sublyme i had a huge thing written out to shoot you down but my cousins laptop sucks and randomly went to a different page.. ill get you later babes
My main thoughts? I'm not too happy since it now sets a precedent - If you're a popular cs "PRO GAMER", you can get your way by writing a rant about how "COUNTER-STRIKE IS DYING ITS NOT FUN". Course, we've seen the same rants since CS' inception in 1999, but the game has only done the opposite and grown more.
I guess if CS is dying shaguar should look for another game. I'm not bitter about the changes to the game, I'm just bitter that people think the way to get what you want in this world is to just rant and rave. There were many valid points to his article, but backing it up with "cs is boring" is a terrible way at getting your point across. Shaguar is the same guy who attacked myself and cs-nation for my views on esports, when I voted mousesports as #1 on gotfrag's coaches polls once while everyone else voted for zEx. So, which team is in better standing right now?
If this has set a precedent, it's only a matter of time until we get strafe jumping and bunny hopping reincorporated. *sigh*
oh and I'm putting on my flame-retardent suit right now.Comment

LOL! ShaGuar speaks, VALVe listens.
I think it's great, the money system needs a wicked overhaul, and that round timer dealy is pretty neat too. It'll be cool to see how many teams go-Lame and wait till 2:47 into the round before they rush into a site. Good stuff valve. Now maybe if ShaGuar writes about the crappy shield we'll make some more progress.Comment

I would hardly say it was Shag all by himself, he may have more influence then most of us, but if he had posted, and gotten flamed by everyone, i hardly would expect valve would have done anything. Many people also sent emails to valve while this "revolution" if you will, was going on. Also, it was CPL|George's idea, Shag just expanded on it. He took the initiative where no one else had.
Thanks to ShaGuar and the whole CS community, for supporting something which will hopefully make cs a much better game :)Comment

I don't see why you look at it this way. For one, the response to Shaguar's article was overwhelmingly positive by much of the competitive CS community. VALVe is attempting to do something that many have ridiculed them for never doing - listening to the community.
Either way, I agree, it bothers me as well that a "pro" player can get his way by just writing a rant about "counter-strike dying" and having it posted on gotfrag.
Also, the decision simply makes sense. Shaguar managed to write an article eloquently enough to get his point across and turn some heads at VALVe. If Joe Blow came out and wrote that article on GotFrag and got the same response, I'm pretty sure that VALVe's decision would be the same. But that's the thing - not many people have the experience that Shaguar does to post such an article. And I'd wager that Joe Blow (ie average GotFrag poster) would riddle the article with spelling and grammatical errors and have crap for structure.
Many professional players have complained about the shield. Others have complained about the delay in jumping. Still others still have complained about the slow pace of CS (besides the money system, anyway). VALVe has done nothing for them, so I do not see a valid opinion in the thought that any professional CS player can go rant about a subject and be catered to by VALVe.Comment
