The Steam ID is in the c:\program files\steam\steam.log
There'll be a bit that looks like this: Did not find an existing connection, attempting new connection 3,203.17.15.134:27030 for 0:0:x
Where x is the steamid
I created this account recently so no chance of 118118 just yet...

Steam Client FAQ
1) Download of Halflife and CS 1.6 is taking 926mb on my system
2) Do NOT unistall 1.5 before installing steam. It will convert a lot of the content from there. which means it doesn't download it!
3) It will also take your cd key information directly from the 1.5 install
4) During the install, it will prompt you if you want to remove 1.5 that is completely UP TO YOU
5) If you get errors trying to start CS, CS freezes on load, client.dll errors, or it just sits there when you click on games. Chances are you are still downloading contet.
6) To check if you are still downloading, click on steam in the systray, and bring up monitor.
7) To see your steam-id: in console, type: status.
8) Steaminstall.exe is just the steam engine install...not the actual game
9) Steam may stall during content load, See item #1 All the people in the world that are trying to get steam * 926mb...WOW! You may have to restart install to fix this.
10) precache errors on conversion. We emailed valve on this one. If you don't want to wait, move your 1.5 and don't convert. However, you will have to download EVERYTHING.
11) Steam currently only support INTERNET play only. An offline mode is being worked on currently and valve will announce when it is released.
12) Mirror links of the installer, NOT CONTENT are also available at csnation.Counter-Strike.netComment
