No. The complaints by LANs are regarding Steam in conjunction with Counterstrike, a multiplayer game which requires connection to the internet. In contrast, Half Life 2 is a single player game which can be played without an internet connection.



As an aside, David Johnston, a map designer (dust, dust2, cbble) with ties to Valve has already stated that Valve have fixed or will soon fix this issue. He stated this in a CSN comments post, feel free to search for it.

Dude, You have to go through Steam for every Half-Life game now, meaning if it doesn't work you don't play EVEN if it's 1 player.

I hate to tell you this, but you're wrong. Just think about it for a second, and try and understand why.



ps. I'm not counting HL1 and Opposing Force here cos I don't think making them work properly is Valve's priority. Talking HL2.

k it took me two hours to get cs 1.6 via steam its not that quite slow i was downloading at 120kb/s wasnt constant but anyways....



and ya me too they didnt ask for my cdkey and im using the half-life original game weird!!!



--off the topic question if i wanna install dod now how does the install thing work with steam ?

--am i gonna see dod in steam?

Well I could not be ar$ed to read all 300+ posts . 1.6 kicks the arse outta 1.5, maps are better, effects are better, new weapons kick butt. So once I finish work I'm gona score some dope, get home and stay indoors until Sunday 9:30 GMT until I have to go to work!



Anyone who thinks that 1.6 is naff must be using a modem ..................



Oh and I don;t care the cost I will be using steam to buy HL2, and when I get home on release day it will be all ready for me to download, update, patch, play!



Roll on HL2 release day (Has weeks holiday to take advantage of!)

This is my 5th attempt at trying to install this, and its really slow, i have deleted the whole directory more than 3 times, and restarted countless times. WORK THIS TIME!
