My thoughts exactly. Considering the number of mods for HL, and yet my only interest in playing CS, it seems unlikely steam is going to provide any on-going content I want to pay $120 for. He does say that mods aside, there will be "presumably other games" but that's not exactly promising, or good marketing to swing me to his way of thinking.

Everytime they don't make the release date everyone's like OMG WTF ROFL LOSARS I H8 U DIE. Realize that HL didn't make its release date either and look what became of that.



Oh, if someone corrects me on that please do... I don't remember if it did make its release date or not.

You can buy half-life in the store for one solid price and get to play it on steam, and get patches and everything else for free.

If you want to play a mod made by Valve such as TF2, CS2, or DoD, you will have to pay another solid fee (for each mod I believe).

If you pay the monthly subscription fee then you get HL and all other Valve mods under that monthly fee.

Ok, THAT makes more sense. I hope they aren't going to charge more than a few bucks to add CS2. I wonder if they will offer "try it before you buy it" for some of the newer mods. I cant see paying for HL2 multi-player if I have already bought the game.

This is rediculous. Certainly just made me wonder if I'm really going to get Half-Life 2, now. This is the type of thing a company like Novalogic would do, but I didn't think Valve would stoop to this level.

costs as much as a CD. its a great game. Before we go on the whole retro thing, theres some good games that are new but you have to pay lotsfor them.

i don't see what the big deal is, basically all it means is TF2 and CS2 wont be free, and i think we all saw this coming?!? We have known TF2 was going to be released as a stand alone game for a long time now. They can't just release a bunch of free games and expect to stay in business.

People, you will still be able to buy the full game with the multiplayer stuff from a shop for the normal premium game price, whatever that is in your local territory. Just like steam never existed and you were buying HL1 back in '98.



If you don't want to pay $9.95per month for access to everything on steam just buy HL2 from a shop or online like you would've done in ye olde days.
