The thing about the media is it's aimed towards the 40 year old people who know little to nothing about what computer games are. Sure, we read this and say "this is absolute bullshit" and comment about how stupid it is, but when you really think about it, how many non 14-26 year old people actually think about things like that and say "thats stupid, videogames have nothing to do with it."?

I really wish people would think a little more about a situation than blaming the most immediate scapegoat that can be found.

wow, thats a pretty big load of bull right there. Tons and tons of people play CS and now they are blaming us for something they dont even know about. Thats sure what it seems like, if that's the case, what's to stop us from thinking that it could be a crazy reporter who got fired and is now seeking revenge?

yeah, if this bs was true, I'd say there'd be roughly 342 shootings every minute by childern who play counter-strike.

          it's pathetic.

even my mom went like "theres a possibility that it's a guy thinking he's still playing the game you're always playing"... she wasn't "REALLY" serious but said it could be it.

What about it's an old-retired and frustrated guy from the army? the guy never misses, you don't learn how to use real weapons by moving a mouse.

          some people are just dumb

The people who actually WOULD play games like cs, then go out and shoot someone because they feel real life is still a game, are mentally unstable. They didn't do it BECAUSE of cs. If cs didnt exist, it would be something else. The news maybe. The point is, the games are not to blame. These people have mental illnesses/issues that are at work far more than a simple game. I know a kid with down syndrome who plays cs. He also licks random things (seriously). Is cs to blame?

Bottom line is the people who do this who DO play fps games also have other, stronger underlying issues controlling them. die nbc thx gg

              Excellent palehorse.

My sentiments exactly. If someone is that weak or unstable that they can't discern between real life and fantasy, then they are going to do things that society cannot accept. Whether or not they play video games has nothing to do with it.

I also liked the mashed-potato analogy. Well put.

I agree that this retort is an attempt by the media and by people in general to find a quick answer to why someone would be so sick as to commit these kind of acts. The media also needs an angle on all of its stories, and they have foundd that the angle portraying violent computer games to be the angle least disputed by the "average" American. Both our national media and our society need to take a closer look at who it actually is that play these games. I believe that if people were to do so, they would see these games as no more harmful than football or golf.

This is one of the most disgusting displays I have ever seen in the mainstream media. The absolute ignorance conveyed is sickening.
here here riz, that would be my feelings exactly. why can't those blockheads (thats putting it nicely) who run the media see that there might possibly another explaination for the madness? i swear, ignorance is going to be the death of us.

I got a pulled over for speeding today. I was going about 80 in a school zone and the officer was very angry. It took a little doing, but after explaining that I had just watched "Fast and Furious" that I couldn't help but drive this way. He had also seen the movie and then understood that it wasn't my fault, but the movies. Everyone knows that after seeing something on tv or in a movie it makes it seem less real to you. Vin Diesel never got a ticket in the movie so I didn't know the consequences of my actions, thus not responsible for them.
That is totally outrageous. Your 'excuse' about watching the movie is full of bull and just to 'save your ass from getting ticketed.' No movie is convincing enough to make people go do stupid things. Do you think the movie 'Gone in 60 Seconds' or the game 'GTA3' promoted car thefts? You were going 80 miles per hour in a schoolzone and you think you were justified in speeding? Plus, you'r old enough to drive? You should have known better than to break the law. You are one of those who overprotective parents nag about {them parents also prevent them from playing C-S}. You're a bane of the C-S community. I really hope you have your driver's license taken away.

...Sticking to the subject, the sniping incidents are like one of those top stories that are overexaggerrated and make the US population question their own security. These intolerable acts of the narrow-minded media imbue protests against the government about trivial matter.

its just media trying to get more viewers..even if they know their comments have no real relevance they want the biz.

another example of ignorance - smallpox

ok saddam does not have small pox, no one does except CDC in atlanta and some lab in russia...the truth is if everyone got vaccinated more people would die than from any possible terrorist attack. think about all those people with the weak immune systems from iono..aids or something. now what are the chances that saddam, with no long range missle capabilities, is going to deliver an unstable and unreliable biological agent over seas? all the hype is just making people paranoid and wasting taxpayer money

anyways, i bet that fag journalist plays cs himself

heck, my parents have even succumed to the "blame everything we dont understand" syndrome.

Yesterday a kid in our city commited suicide, and my dad wanted to confiscate some of my CDs because it might make me feel "funny"

(btw, I listen to korn and THEN coldplay/ dave matthews, so the hate factor cancels itself out)

Read the bolded lines at the end of rizzuh's entry. No acting stupid or banishment/etc. will be used. If he was being sarcastic, then he should not have typed what was on his tiny mind, to plague the rest of us readers.
