NBC, 'CS Being Examined in DC Sniper Case'

I would rather have killers killing people in CS then real life. People that kill people are already screwed up in the head in the beginning, and maybe they play CS to try to release their angry. This is coming from someone who hates what CS did to my life and am now just correcting it (me duh :d) But in no way does CS have a relation to wanting to make people kill. Now it has sparked an interest of mine to possibly join the army or something someday but I would much rather go off to college.

BTW I live in Woodbridge, VA which is less than 20 minutes from Manassas, VA where the most recent shooting took place.

Last week NBC news had a story on how violent videogames were a cathartic activity for relieving stress. I guess not anymore. To quote Marshall Mathers, These games are only "sick as the mother f**kin' kid its behind." Maybe people should look at it that way, instead of blaming everything/one else for their problems. I'm sure it desensitizes us somewhat, but for the majority of us, we are stable people and can rationalize the difference between videogame fantasy and cold blood killing. But, like everything else in this nation, we have to cater to the lowest common denominator, so EVERYONE feels good. Thats bullshit. When people can pull their heads out of thier butts and use common sense, we will be able to play violent video games in peace. Untill then, we will have every Senator, President, and politician breathing down our necks to protect everyone from themselves.

OMG, its soooo offensive to me when i se bs like this, they dont know anything about the killer and they are already turning to us?

this reminds me of columbine, where doom was put in the spotlight,just because ppl who played doom went on a rampage at their school doesnt mean the other millions of decent ppl are also destructive and that doom is an awful terrible game. ppl were being discrimnated against because they were suspected of playing doom, and it was like, compltely bcuz of the fact that the killers played doom and it really really pissed me off, and now that i think about, its only gonna get worse, when they find this guy, theyre gonna start picking him apart piece by piece, and everything half bad they find out about him, they are gonna apply to everyone whos ever been suspected of being depressed or angry.

if u take everything into perspective, how many "real" role models, ones appointed by parents and stuff, are ppl like basketball players and movie stars. more basketball and movie stars kill people than video gamers, they commit more felonies than like, everyone who plays cs, ut, or any other FPS combined, and yet they still suspect ppl who come to sites like this, of crimes that truley bad ppl did. real violence is sooooo different from computer violence, how many footballs have died or gotten seriously injured, and how many ppl have died playing computer games? i think the only person ive ever heard of was that guy in china(i think, it was somewhere in asia) who died while he was working at a cybercafe.



has anyone read the book "geeks" by jon katz, it was a very very impressive and encapturing read, not to advertise or anything, but i REALLY reccomend it, especially since they are already starting up the heat on computer games again, it really helped me decide if it was right or wrong to display violence in computer games like this.

The media is full of corrupt, and blood-thirsty, nosy reporters who talk trash about others. Surprisingly, some people feed into this propaganda and nonsense. There is none of the so-called 'god modes' in Counter-Strike {Half-Life's console enables godmode though, but that's a sci-fi type single player FPS thing}



There's a difference between playing an addictive and fun game {that promotes anti-terrorism} as a pasttime, ...and unlawfully shooting some stranger and leaving a "business card" {which the media calls a Death Tarot Card. The person/people behind this is mentally troubled and deserves capital punishment for their crimes.

To be honest, there's two mindsets going on here that I cannot understand. One is that of the killer. I cannot honestly understand the mind of someone who is willing to kill random, innocent people. It doesn't make any sense, as that's a line of morality that you just don't ever cross.



The other is the mindset of someone willing to mislead others into blaming a convenient target for something they cannot understand. And it seems, more and more, CS has become the newest scapegoat, taking over where Doom left off, and so many others before it, as KhAoS pointed out.



Both of these mindsets lead to my disappointment, as I look out into the world around me, and realize that all too many people will be shocked by the one, and believe the other.



I hope the police are able to find this killer quickly, and carefully. I really don't want to see a police shootout against a sniper.

People just can't accept the fact that some people have problems. Theres a skitzo on my block, and if he plays some sorta video game, good for freaking him. Man I hate the world.

I got a pulled over for speeding today. I was going about 80 in a school zone and the officer was very angry. It took a little doing, but after explaining that I had just watched "Fast and Furious" that I couldn't help but drive this way. He had also seen the movie and then understood that it wasn't my fault, but the movies. Everyone knows that after seeing something on tv or in a movie it makes it seem less real to you. Vin Diesel never got a ticket in the movie so I didn't know the consequences of my actions, thus not responsible for them.
