  • Microsoft Bringing First-Party Native 4K Games and VR Support at Scorpio Launch

In speaking with USA Today, Microsoft's Publishing General Manager, Shannon Loftis, said that Xbox Scorpio will have native 4K rendering for first party games at launch. In addition, they have plans to support virtual reality, something that was strongly hinted at before but never really confirmed before now.
Loftis says Microsoft is already exploring virtual reality options and games for Xbox, which will support VR with Scorpio, as well as prepping titles for the boost in visual quality. "Any games we're making that we're launching in the Scorpio time frame, we're making sure they can natively render at 4K."

Of course, native 4K rendering will almost guarantee that the games will be 30FPS at most. What I would love to see from companies like Microsoft, Sony, and even Nintendo would be consoles that can simply do 1080p and 60FPS locked. This generation of games is already sitting rough with a number of games that can't even maintain a solid 30FPS at 1080p.
