Correction: The Elder Scrolls Online Will NOT Use One-Time Activation Codes on Consoles

Yesterday, we reported that the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online would make use of one-time activation keys and would thus eliminate the possibility for trading the game in or renting it. This was based off of a posting on the official forums from a ZeniMax representative.

Today, Bethesda issued a correction and said what's really going on.
"The physical console version of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited does not require a one-time game code," says Alistair Hatch, the Head of European PR at Bethesda. "As with any other boxed PS4 / Xbox One game only the game disc is needed for verification," he concluded.

"In case you were wondering: The console disc version of #ESOTU works like other boxed console games and doesn't require a one-time use code," said via the game's official Twitter account.

There you have it, a more official official word now on what is going on with the whole one-time key fiasco. Right now, there is nothing to worry about! Physical copies of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will function just like any other Xbox One or PlayStation 4 game.
