The April 2014 NPD figures are in and once again the PlayStation 4 has outsold the Xbox One for the month. NPD analyst Liam Callahan made some remarks about the figures for both hardware and software for April 2014, so let's take a look at how things are broken down here.
That is a very solid showing from all parties (except Nintendo). I'm going to assume that there will be some figures revealed at E3 2014 during Sony's presentation.
Let's take a look at the software sales.
People apparently love those LEGO games. This also marks the second month in a row that Titanfall has topped the charts, undoubtedly helped by the release of the Xbox 360 version.

- PlayStation 4 - #1 platform for hardware sales for the fourth month in a row. Specific figures were not revealed.
- Xbox One - #2 platform for hardware sales. Microsoft revealed that they sold 115,000 Xbox One units.
- Xbox 360 - 71,000 units were sold.
- Compared to April 2013, sales of console hardware have increased 120%.
- Lifetime to date, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have "more than doubled" the combined sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in their first six months of sales.
- Despite being second to the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One is still outpacing sales of the Xbox 360 in its first six months by almost 76%.
