Re: Bashandslash Twitter/Webcast Confirms Changes for PC

Well over night there's been 3190 signatures and growing every refresh.

See this is the thing lets say a pc gamer on average get the game off the net for £30 x that by 3190 is a staggering

    £94,860

Now who's to say if the PC Gamers stuck together they wouldn't listen? And as we have found out money talks, doesn't it Infinity Ward.

they are losing only $150,000 US. Because of console sales, thats nothing. right now I wish Bungee had some over hyped Sh#t so the console players would forget about MW2.

Thats just from amazon.com alone, that does not include other major retailers like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Eb Games Etc Etc.

Ah, ok. We might have some hope, or they will never develop on PC again and just blame piracy even though we were screaming at them.

I really do belive that after IWNET fails, this will be the Final MW if not Cod game for the PC.

Re: Bashandslash Twitter/Webcast Confirms Changes for PC

The beauty of PC gaming is that it isn't draconian. We get to choose where, with whom and however we prefer to play. This news removes all of that.

No dedicated servers means one thing to me, huge latencies, LAG. Whoever is close enough to these central IWnet or Steam servers will always have the advantage. The rest of us will be expriencing a slideshow. I can't even begin to imagine what a terrible experience this will be for those outside the USA.

I don't think it is worth it to cater to those technically-challenged gamers with 'matchmaking'. Why? Because if they're so disinclined and care-less to bother with server browsers, what makes you think these types will even stick around once the PC FPS multiplayer tempo begins rising? Catering to simpletons is a lost cause, especially for the PC platform. If it isn't one hurdle affecting them, it's the next. Effort shouldn't be wasted on them.

Not everyone wants to solely play those of equal skill level. In fact most PC gamers worth their salt that I know of prefer playing against those of superior skill. It is a much more rewarding and fun experience.

Dedicated server software allowing huge variations in player counts, local (set-up-anywhere) low latency servers, adjustable gameplay rules, custom maps and mods, and server browsers are what PC gaming is about.

To my knowledge I have yet to see a matchmaking based game succeed multiplayer wise on the PC. Counter-Strike, Battlefield and COD4/5 communties sustain such huge numbers because the gameplay is subscriptionless, lagless and customizable.

The PC is an organic community driven platform and IW should be wise to cater to this strength. IW should not resort to the draconian stagnation that is the console.

Re: Bashandslash Twitter/Webcast Confirms Changes for PC

Ive just spent a couple of hours digesting the information from both forums, and I think Im going to be sick.

Infinity Ward is going to rape COD PC competitive gaming, communities, clans, fan-forums, modding communities and the general PC experience in the game in one swift motion.

I saw a couple of defenders here, and I had to dig through the collective mental retardation of the so called "console gaming group" on IW forum, and these (you) guys have absolutely no clue.

                      I am stunned.

                        ***EDIT****

IW Forum mods have just done a major scrubbing of the forums and have deleated the main topic on no Dedi servers.

off the best info available, can somebody tell me,

                              > how many players multiplayer will have max ?
                              > if IW is hosting servers on IWnet, then can a clan rent servers off them ?
                              > if you rent servers off IW than what capacity is there to admin it ?

I realise that this info may not be in our hands yet
but please answer what you can

The worst scenario is that IWnet does matchmaking and server hosting is done on a person's home PC, when they set up a game

                              PS
I'm gonna go see if I can cancel my amazon pre-order

                                The sum of all fears.

The servers are just streamed thru IWNET, everything is listen servers, IW is just running VAC and their own auto update program the rest is user side.
