IW.Net will be all public servers from what I understand. You can't actually rent one or anything. Thus giving IW Supreme control. And you already know they're gonna charge pc gamers for DLC through it; that much is obvious. It's just like xbox live that has all these servers. When a few people decided they want to play they get to go through the matchmaking process and get tossed into whatever server. For private matches its going to be hosted off of the one of the peoples own internet connection in the private match. Oh the fun.

From what I've been reading and from personal experiences trying to play CoD4 on Xbox Live, the servers are the clients. The clients are the servers. There are no official servers other than to run the matchmaking itself. The games are always hosted on one person's box, so that person can have 4 bars while everyone else has whatever is left over.

And from what 402 said, we'll be entirely dependent on IWNet for matchmaking and host migration. Everything will be listen servers, not dedicated public servers provided by IW, that run on client machines. So they have supreme control AND we still pick up the tab for hosting. Just in a much lamer way than the current effective model.

But point being: it isn't just private matches that will run off of one person's internet connection.

I have cancelled pre-order at amazon
If there will be some good server solution, after all, then I will consider buying after Christmas
Otherwise I will pick this up in a year for 5 bucks second hand for the single player aspect

They cant take the criticism, Someone hates on them, MW2 or consoles they are banned, yet if a console player hates on PC players, he is praised by the community. Shows who is boss then.


Ive just got a lot more interested in BFBC2.

Must admit, not happy bout this.
Friends all over my Xfire friends list have all got the same message or similar.
"Will not be buying Modern Warfare 2" and the such.

A huge backlash I've not seen before.
Quite interesting but sad.
Like someone said earlier they are taking the route of EA and not giving a damn anymore.

That would be huge! But people have to pay their bills and in this economy thats not easy.

Its bad enough those are the people that will be backhanded for all this and used as a scapegoat if everything else is successful.

I just wish they'd just cancel the PC Call of Duty and stopped making it for PC, no need to bastardize it more and more.

And IMO Activision is not blame as much as Infinity Ward, they wanted to go to consoles, it was their idea and they are pushing it.

And I don't have anything against steam, but I just don't want to have another extra app installed just to run the game, screw that.

I'm happy I'm getting this for 360.

And that's sad in a way, because with these news PC CoD is pretty much the same as the 360 version without achievements. :|:

The other thing is MyIS just got screwed over cancelations. They must have lost a huge amount of money as well don't u think? IW started right after COD4 with waiting months to get patches and three maps, but Treyarch comes out almost ever other month with a patch and maps.

Imo i think treyarch should take the torch and be the cod creaters for PC and leave IW for the console f***s
