The fact that there is not going to be Dedicated servers is going to cause major issues!!

Do we have any idea WTF IWNET is, and how capable it will be?

Exactly! So why are you complaining about the lack of dedicated servers? For all you know, IWNet might be able to do anything you could ever want and make you a steak dinner in its spare time

Or... more likely; it's brand new, poorly tested software that's going to fail in the most fantastical way imaginable.

According to 402, IWNet will be the matchmaking service but all game servers will run on local client machines. How can IWNet possibly make someone's home connection suddenly able to support more people than now? Look at all of the other games with no dedicated servers on the PC. Where are they now?

I just know I won't be forking over $60 for the privilege of testing this ill-advised experiment. And I know for a fact I'm not alone in that.

This kinda sucks about the Dedi servers. But it whould be cool if steam save our profiles.... IMO. but im big CoD Fan so im going to buy even if this hows it going to be.

I'm getting the PS3 version of this game. At least with the PS3 you can entirely host your own server.

Damm...I just cant belive it. It's all ****ed up! I hate Steam as I hate Valve, thats ***. Go to hell..I love COD4 by it's simplified way to play.
You just open Xfire, select the server and play! That's easy not? They are doing it to end piracy? I admit i got it pirate fist but because it's so good i bought original!! There are no more Lan Matches? Are you kidding me?

Man...I hope they dont do that, they change on a patch or something, because this way, I am not going to buy it original...sticking with my cod4...

Re: Bashandslash Twitter/Webcast Confirms Changes for PC

This has me really torn between canceling my preorder or still getting the game. I mean... I've been playing on dedicated PC servers since I first played doom 2 at my cousin's house 12 or 13 years ago. I don't know what to think right now. I really feel that not having dedicated servers is a bad move, and even more so if IWs' net-code ends up being crappy like XBox live player hosting. GTA4, Halo2/3, etc were total lag fests maybe 40% of the time when I played at my friend's house where he has a 20/10Mb cable connection.

I'm stuck with 1.8Mb/448Kb DSL at my location because I'm just far enough out that I can't get the 3Mb/768Kb line and Verizon Fios is not available at my address yet. I'm leeching off my brothers 20/10Mb cable internet over wifi. Though the wifi sucks for gaming because it stutters a lot even with a solid 48-54Mb connection speed. This does not bode well for me it would appear.

I'm gonna have to think about this for a couple days. *sigh*

I love when 402 said that infinity ward never knew that their games were so multiplayer oriented until AFTER COD4. So as a result, they **** IT OVER.

Dead game. I'm glad I never preordered it yet because I doubt I will get it now. I'll spend that money on BORDERLANDS.

I think I'll spend the money on a couple of nights out, it will last longer and leave me with happier memories.

I wonder if there will be a friends list? So you can find your clanmates in other servers. I just see this move making BF:BC2 a epic sale.

Only if BF:BC2 has dedicated servers :hmm:

Go ask the Operation Flashpoint 2 community how great the multiplayer is without dedicated servers.

There's a huge difference. OPDR's servers are ran by a Console hosting company that has NEVER hosted PC servers. IW has the support of Valve with this IWNet Venture, this give IW a greater shot to succeed regardless how "dedicated" the community is with Derailing this change.

Then going out at your place is alot cheaper than it is here.
