About the load times: it only takes me about 45 seconds to load into a map once it's optimized shaders or whatever it does. And I've got regular old platter hard drives...
you paid $10 for them and have been playing them for almost 2 years.....get over it and be happy there might be more than time padding severs running those maps. want to fix the load times? get a SSD harddrive or raid some raptors.....its not DICE's fault you have a major bottleneck in your PC called a platter harddrive.
It's a 4 year old game, you shouldn't need SSDs or RAID to get decent load times.
And supposedly load times are worse in 1.4 than the original, so it's not completely the users' fault.
I've been told I actually load the maps too damn fast. Every time the server changes maps I get kicked for modified content because I load faster than the server and have to rejoin the server to keep playing. Luckily there's a delay at the beginning of the round to allow everyone to fully load before spawning so I don't miss any action, but it's still annoying to have to rejoin the server after every map change. :hmm:

sorry, that statement is so wrong it made me laugh.
no game should require a SSD or raptors, LOL. and why are you bagging on platter hard drives? i'm willing to bet about 99.9999% of us have platter hard drives.

I wish they released it earlier this summer because I start school the very next day. Oh well, at least it's coming out and after I read the release notes it should be great.
One thing I'm really happy about is that they made the TV Missile crosshair black instead of white. I'll actually be able to successfully use them on Dragon Valley now.
Well it's a new computer I built last month with the idea that it would run the next-gen BF games well. Just a Phenom II x4, GTX 285, and 8 GB DDR3 running on Vista 64. To its credit it does run the game marvelously, aforementioned issue notwithstanding. It does load the map in the blink of an eye so I guess as penance it makes me load it twice. :p
It sounds like a good idea until you realize how easy it is to glitch inside buildings using the hook. :hmm:
If you are running an unranked server, you can prevent this by doing a SSM of the map! Throw a barbwire fence where they try to get in.....That will fix them
Anyways, I am looking forward to this, as well I am sure the other BF players are too!
