While that may be true, we have gotten almost no indications that they actually have a higher production value.

What I mean is that so far, we haven't seen much to actually justify the higher price! It's practically on the same engine, and the little we've seen from SP has looked great, but not revolutionizing or anything.

What most people are afraid of is that the higher price is unjustified and Activision is just trying to squeeze more money out of us because they can.

Especially on the PC side, where games practically always are cheaper than their console games. Many feel this is justified because PC games doesn't have to pay licenses to Sony/Microsoft and we pay for our own servers. (In most games, not always)

It's not about, "just ten dollars". It's about the thought of prices of games being raised to $60 across the board.

If this is a success, then other highly anticipated games could also be raised in price. The trend would continue with the less and less anticipated games over time. Then, when you would be able to buy 6 brand new games, you would only be able to buy 5 new games.

Maybe you just don't understand this concept because your parents still buy you everything you whine for. Do you get a weekly allowance too?

I don't understand most of you. This is the same company that just said the PS3 is to expensive. But now they want to over charge for a game. Lets see with the PS3, Xbox, Wii we have a system that is capable of tons off replay value. All kinds of different games, yet we have a game that while may have some replay value, it will eventually end up on shelves. While we play the next big game. So tell me why it is justified to spend extra on a game and then tell a company that is making an awsome system that can play said game that they are overcharging. This is total BS and I don't get why people will stand for this ****. For years people have been saying that MS is a company that only cares about themselves, well now I give you a company (Activision)that needs to be taught that they aren't the only ones that consumers buy from. By the way games had a 10 price hike when the 360, PS3 came out so don't tell me we need a price hike now in this economy.

The problem, aside from the higher price, is that this is for PC. DLC on the CoD side is not well received for PC players. I tried to look up some CoD4 numbers of games and from http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50951 you can see that at the time of this article, Xbox sold 3.04 million in North America and 383,000 for PC.

Playstation is not in those numbers, but I think we all know that it was still higher than PC sales as well. So to be a loud voice against raising the price $10 by boycotting, EVERYONE on PC is going to have to do it because the Xbox/PS3 crowd is going to drown out that voice with the large bags of money for both the game and again later for the DLC.

So if the years of technology vs. production or the economy problems of today are not good enough reasons this game is going up in price, then just look at the numbers of units sold.

Is it greed? I guess its in the eye of the beholder. I don't see it as greed myself. I see a PC platform with people expecting all this support and a game that has to work on all these different machines and OSes and people expecting free DLC on top of it.

PC support is not that great, I know that. The games always come out buggy and not entirely ready, but for the PC side of things its a logistics nightmare. Those 383,000 copies sold are probably on 200,000 differently designed PCs. Those 3 million Xboxes are more than likely on 4 different Xboxes.

There charging a higher price because they know it will sell, and the 12yr idiots who get mummy and daddy to buy it for them, will buy it.

If they are allowed to get away with it, many publishers will follow suit, and you can expect £55 for each game you pay for. Btw, for any idiots who think "just look for a low priced copy" yeh there are a few, but those are retailers cutting there profit margin, they wont do that if all games go £55 across the board

Yeah a petition may not change anything, but you can atleast have your voice heard and defend your rights.

Either way, choice is up to you

Given that I have yet to find any retailer with a listing for the collectors edition for the PC, I feel safe in assuming that there won't be one (I haven't seen an announcement from IW on if there was going to be one or not). With that in mind, as well as the price hike, I don't think I'll be buying this any time soon.

And while I don't support pirating, I seriously hope that this becomes the largest pirated game in history so other developers won't try to follow IW's example and raise prices on their games as well.

real nice.Im bobby kotick and i'll pull production on a system,whos price has only come down since release,because it hasnt dropped enough.At the same time i'll up the cost of my games just 4 all of you wonderful consumers.btw how much did killzone cost to make. you can only justify raising prices 4 high production cost if you'll lower it on games that arent so high cost. how much do call of duty games currently cost if you included dlc.we should pay $50 for cd's to cover the cost of piracy.$50 for dvd's and when blurays are highly pirated $75 per movie. all of the latter have production cost to deal with and are pirated way more and are more easily obtainable than games. 1 million people at $10 more per game = an extra 10 million for actiblizz and it will definetly sell upwards of 5 mill multiconsole. dont support greed it takes food out of your childs mouth.

EDIT: I just read through that whole locked thread, and boy are there some gems in there. Some people actually think PC gamers should be charged more because we have more servers... that we already pay for in the first place.
Some people think we should have to pay more because of all of the USER MADE content that's out there.
Then there are the guys who seem to honestly believe that prices going up is okay. "It's only $10. Why are you stupid PC gamers so cheap?"

I don't even bother with IW forums or any forums that are infested with console kiddies. The fact of the matter is that they have very very little to no comprehension on economic issues.

Saying that we should have to pay more for what we are making for ourselves is just plain stupid. Do they even have the slightest comprehension on how much time and effort are put in a good map?

I've spent a lot of time on maps over the course of CoD and I don't want to hear some little **** go on about how the PC gamers should have to pay for this. It's stupid **** like that which would make me kick somebody's *** in person. They're saying that Activision should profit for what the community makes? How ****ing stupid do you have to be to say something like that?
