Are you guys kidding? Are we all obligated to give a mod a nice 100% score?
Why you attack so much on those who didn't like it?
This mod gives you the feeling that it is made for 1942 and not for BF2. And no it does not give any sense of the old '42 mood. And what we all expected from a ww2 mod? To bring back the old 42 feeling. But when you have graphics worst than vanilla bf1942, tanks turning like a turtle - (even an old tank driver told the DEv team in their forum that this is SO UNREALISTIC.-The T-34 takes 4 seconds to make an 180 deg turn in reality), planes way of flying - its against physics!, players cant jump, cant run....thats also too realistic right? i suppose because in '40s men who were at war couldn't sprint with full armor or jump up a fence...

Ok, lets suppose all those coding problems will be fixed in next releases. Will the BAD BAD texturing will? I wish. Cause when developers say its a reality mod but offer a cartoonish style graphics I will repeat it again. Vanilla BF1942 has better graphics than BGF.
Ok i can accept it for a mod that took 3-4 months to be released. But BFG had over a year of development. Unfortunately results don't prove that.

Yes all the guys worked dedicated, with passion, worked hard for sure. True, they don't owe us a thing. But in every work there is criticism, good or bad. This work gets better by the bad criticism. So i think that if all want to see a better release in the future, we shouldn't hide behind our fingers.

And to all those kids saying that bad graphics is a result of an old computer hardware with bad settings. 8800GTX,X1900XT, C2D, Quad cores, and 2GB+ of RAM is not bad hardware i think. Get serious.

guys can you please keep your critics constructive? I dunno why all you guys seem to want to rip on WWII mods when there are plenty of other BF2 mods that have "lower quality standards" as such out there.... I dout any of you guys even understand how much work is required to get a mod out the door, these guys have been working on this mod for over 2 years which with a medium size team is in fact very fast for the kinda mod they have produced. Really if you cant keep you critics constructive then its best to not say nothing at all as all you are going to do is make the guys who made this FREE mod for over 2 years feel like crap when in fact they have done a fine damn job even thou yes it dose have some issues, what mod or game dose not have issues with it?

Don't worry, i just ignore people who are just here only to crap. (i won't waste my time to read them)
If they unable to do a difference bewteen a free mod and a game, it's their own problem.
Nowadays, more and more people are become irrespectfull but perhaps we must blame their ignorance (or their arrogance).

Personnally, people who like our mod (or at least respect our work) has got my full attention and give me more energy to improve the mod for them.
I thank people for their constructive critism and thx you for downloading the mod !
Next versions will be better and better thx to you (and will be about 43-45 so more and more interresting about stuff :yay:)

I have everything set to high and this game looks horrible. Considering how much time they took, I would give it a 3/10.

You must be the same kind of person that had fun playing "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing"

Regarding your picture, it doesn´t look perfect but mainly because of your settings. I did the screenshots we published on the news for my maps and now i hear people saying that our screenshots looked much better than the game actually. Well, i never tweaked or sharpened any picture. My setting was 1280x1024(1024x768 will be ok too), terrain high, geomety high, dynamic light medium and now whats most important to see the textures more sharp on distance(see your bic, texture is blurry on distance - your comment about the low detail maps is a real joke, there is one...you see at 400 meter distance with fog and its grass) --> anisotropic filtering of at least 8x better 16x, anti aliasing 4x. If you use these settings you´ll see BGF like on our screenshots.

I have to agree, the textures in the original game looked better than this release, but remember, this is the first release. Hopefully it is something that Battlegroup are working towards.

            Good luck.

I have seen many posts with people unhappy with BGF: snipers, r3wt, mrkidkill, Smooth, radicator8, Copy_of_Blah

What I don’t understand is, if they don’t like it that much, why don’t they just ask for a refund of all their hard earned money they paid for the mod?

              What?
It is a free mod and they are complaining… :shakehead
Wow! Have a nice day then. :)

I hope you understand the difference between whining and constructive critisism.

I´ve played all mods since BF1942 and I respect all the hard work what has been done. One thing that I hate is that all this hard work will fly to the recycle bin after some more quality mods will come out. I remember lots of good mods when playing BF1942. But there was one little problem- nobody played them- maybe couple of servers with 2 guys in them (one bot and another one was developer).

I checked the current playability of mods:

BGF- 46 servers 2 of them full
Battleracer - 7 servers 0 of them full
DC - 28 servers 1 of them full
EOD- 2 servers 0 of them full
POE - 106 servers 2 of them full
PR- 86 servers 5 of them full

If you still want to critisize me, then plz do it with more lines than last time.

                  True it is free.

It is also true that we are all entitled to our oppinion. Whether you are to decide if it is constructive criticism is on the other hand not true.

I think myself and the five other people actually expressing our oppinion is better than just accepting things as they are.
If the devs do not receive any feedback on their mod how can they improve them?

If there is NO one single thing that annoys you with this mod then I think it is great, but then I would also think you were lying.

All mods have issues big or small, even PR or POE. If there were no where to point them out would they be looked in to or maybe corrected.

Number 8 mention some flaws but does not specify them, is that helpfull for a dev? I don´t think so.

Got a couple rounds in this morning - very enjoyable, will definitely get some more in tonight. Nice to see some old school maps again. Great effort for your first release! Its not surprising that the most positive comments here are coming from the guys who know what it takes to put out a mod. Hopefully your servers will grow and stay full, and congrats from the Pirates team!

guys like you are the reason why i quit modding...

I for myself spend hours doing textures and rebuilding every damn screw and nuts and bolds for a tank. I want it to be perfect. But all i get to hear that my textures are cartoonish and not better than a 4-5 year old game...

After i quit BGF i was asked to work in different mods (even FH2, i wonder how the reactions would be, if my textures would be in that mod, so i don´t think my work cannot be that bad), but for me and my health it is better to stay away from qualified people like you.

btw, I have already taken place in a ww2 tank, my grandfather was tank driver, too, during ww2...

                          @Postman
Don't expect me to apologize for you quitting modding. And please by moaning you don't prove anything to none but only finding excuses! And the ironic tone in your voice? I dont get it.
I my self work on Cinema4D and Photoshop for modeling and texturing. Not for mods, just as a hobby. When i 1rst put my w.i.p. screenshot at some forums i get lot of criticism. And i find it very good to me because guess what? My next screenshot has less faults. And how is that done? Because i cant dump someone' s opinion that points out to me that my objects have wrong geometry, or my scene is lighten wrong, or some polys have to be smooth greatly or the compositing is totally bad, or the textures are over-brighten for example.

                          @crandaddy
That is very positive you know. So maybe i ll release tomorrow a game that has absolutely NOTHING. But hey? Its FREE, doesn't it? So I expect from the whole community not to see my faults and accept it as it is. And maybe thank me for releasing something free! Now tell me, is this a step forward?

So you can have an opinion, however I cannot decide that what you write "as I see it" is constructive criticism or not.

Yea, that sound right, I don't get to have an opinion.

My opinion is that constructive criticism is expected (anywhere) with an item you pay for, but when it is free, them the "constructive criticism" SHOULD be posted on the BGF websight/forum.

Smooth, Sorry for taking up to many lines, it was a bad call on my part, Edit C/W. Thanks.

@snipers, there is constructive criticisms which you are referring to, and then there is slagging off criticism which you are doing which dose not help the user and all it says it "your stuff is crap, a 5 year old could have done better" etc which tell me how dose that help any one? Constructive is "humm, if you look at this tank, you will see this texture here could use a little dirt, and maybe also afew scratches would make it look loads better". The sooner you can tell the difference the sooner people will start respecting your posts.

Very nicely said! I felt the same way about the EOD mod trashing they took with all the Sniper problems they had.

Maybe when I read your first post, I did not get the feeling of the above line in the "Bad things:" list. If so, I apologize for not seeing that...
