    Three possible purchases...

...would I be doing well for myself by purchasing these items?

    Saitek Eclipse Keyboard

    Logitech G5 Mouse

    eDimensional Gaming Headset

The Logitech G15 keyboard is available at my local store, but it's probably more than 55 dollars and the LCD screen is kind of overkill, people are right when they ask why you'd look at your keyboard for ammo when you can see it on screen. Thoughts? Are these products available elsewhere for cheaper?

G5? Get an MX518. The review I based this on is lost somewhere in the depths of Google, but optical > laser, especially at high polling rates.

As for the keyboard, I've never looked at a "gaming keyboard", neither for the headset.

that headset uses a USB input (i think) and people have a lot of problems with the USB type headsets. like having no sound untl you restart your game.

Thank you for replying, guys. I checked out the mx518 reviews on newegg, 89% 5 egg ratings FWIW. Also, thanks for the advice re: headsets. That siberia headset looks pretty damn nice, it's 60 bucks on newegg. I suppose I don't need a new keyboard, mine works perfectly fine, I'll suck at BF2 no matter what I get. I think the mx518+siberia headset is nice.

What, in your opinions, is more important to gaming....mouse or keyboard?

Definately the mouse but you should go with the G5. I've been using it for two years now and when it breaks I go out and just buy the exact same one.

The G5 has many sweet features I'm sure you've read them but I'll touch base:

Weight cartridge - like you mouse heavy/somewhate/light? You adjust it to your style!

DPI Mode - Change you sensitivity from low (400) to med (1000) to high (2000) on preset controls. Don't like those? Use Setpoint (installation prgm) and adjust to your preference. You have two buttons that allow you to switch between modes while you are playing and a LED to indicate which setting you are on.

ps, Not sure if those are the correct dpi levels, was just guessing off the top o my head.

Comfy - very nice on your hand.

Back button - for browsing around use your back button.

Scroll wheel - This is a unique one too, you can go up down and press it down but also, you can click it side to side. I don't really use it for other than scrolling though =P

            I say G5 owns =P

If you can play BF2 at 200fps, you'll be more likely to not suck :p

I thought it caps off at 100?

Look at my rig below, I run everything maxed out but use the card drivers for AA 8x AF 16x (max). I play the game and its 100 fps - sitting or in a big fight. Always 100 FPS.

It is locked to 100 fps but in the command console you can set it to
                  "renderer.lockfps 200".

And, btw, there is a newer version of the Saitek Eclipse out than that. Saitek Eclipse 2

I use a Speedlink Medusa headset (5.1 in your ears ),
                    Razer Copperhead Mouse, and
                    A Logitech G11 Keyboard.

Not being funny, but i'm proper tight when it comes to spending money on myself, so I took a while looking around before I bought these, and i'm glad I did :)

Just another opinion, something to think about.

Stick "game.lockfps 0" or "game.lockfps 999" into General.con for each of your accounts and make the file read only.

Makka thats not true 5.1 mate, its virtual 5.1
The medusa's come with all the phono plugs to go straight in to the connections on your sound card, and you just select 5.1 as your default.

40 pounds mate! The G5 mouse is 55 dollars no tax at my local store, it would cost about 40 cents more to ship it with newegg. There are also two "gaming" headsets available at the store (which is the only store I can shop at), altec lansing ahs515 and ahs615. Anybody use those?

After reading ur post I went out and bought Logitech X518 and OMG its an amazing mice. I'd say if u really care about the weight then $10 is alright but don't get it because u want 2000dpi because 1600dpi is way too much already. I had to tune the damn thing down to 1400dpi so that I can actually control where I am shooting. But the best thing about this mice is its sensitivity and adjustment of such. 400dpi increased my sniping skills 200% now I can kill almost anything. :)
