I know a lot of people say "Oh, why can't they go back to WW2!?" But really, why? It is so played out and done! How many WW2 based games are in the market now? It is so over done it makes my head spin. I love these modern combat games...I prefer them to the future or historical stuff (aside from QWs).

Wow, I'm completely amazed at all the whining and griping. This game is over a year from conception (according to a "leaked" document) and already everyone is bashing it.

You want combat in a modern era, but cry that it's urban based? Guess what? The large-scale tactical WWIII fight that every 60s-90s field grade officer and up dreamed about is non-existent. Battalion level heavy armor and aerial combat based warfare as taught by CGSC and the War College? Also non-existent.

The now and future is light mobile urban warfare. Read the fricken news, look where the military strengths and personnel numbers are.

I for one am excited at the possibility of a new BF3. I am curious how the MEC-NATO fight shall play out in the game though. I'm a huge fan of PR, but the imbalance between Coalition forces hardware and the crude (but in the right hands very effective) materials of the MEC makes for a rough game at times. It is one thing when you have the advantage of numbers, surprise, and knowledge of the battleground that current real-life Iraqis/Afghanis/Taliban, etc have over NATO troops. To translate that into a video game however, is very difficult.

I say at least wait until the beta before you praise/bash a game.

Actually, I think NOW is the best time to start laying the heat on. By the time a beta shows up, only mild tweaks will be able to be made. And we are talking about DiCE here, known for dropping instead of improving. The earlier people raise their opinions/concerns, the easier it will be for DiCE to adjust their roadmap.

Weren't you something like 9 years old when Bf1942 came out? Since then several titles have arrived with the WW2 theme. If anything, we only have a couple modern day games (outside of the many excellent mods).

Speaking of! What a treat it would be if the game was able to take the direction of complete community interaction. By that I mean, if Mod Teams develope a great vehicle or map, they could grant DiCE permission to expand the base of the ranked game with their tools. Hmm, I can see problems with that idea, but if it could be ironed out....

I'm bashing EA and dices track record up till now, and judging the game based on what we have seen in the past. Not the actual leaked features themselves, I'm sure all that will get updated and changed over time....

Still though, after the way they treated the community why should I even bother?

Diversity, immersion and increased skill factor please.

And how far are truly customizable soldier kits, where you pick a template and customize it using different armor and weapon options`?

Maybe because WWII hasn't been done well since BF1942. WWII with vehicles and large maps ala BF1942 style on an updated engine (BF2) will be nice. Sure, we can play COD 2, DOD:S, etc (but not MOHA because that's ****), but it's not the same. I am personally looking forward to the WWII mods about to be released.

EA support mods? Yeah, right. Osama Bin Laden has a better chance of being elected President.

I`d only like WW2 if it`d be done right- gory, gritty and loud. DICE would fail horribly, BF is a comical depiction of warfare.

thats like comparing Joint operations to BF2

WW2 FPS games arent even half explored yet, the only game that did that was BF1942, and the technology around the game is old and outdated, if there are so many WW2 games out there can anyone tell me one that u can measure the map in miles? and that has vehicles like tanks with good handling and not the usual "drive a brick around" kind of handling, and planes that actually fly around and look and feel right when flying?
