The creativity of bf3 sounds mind-blowing...

Re: Battlefield 3 Possible Plans Revealed?

I was hooked on 1942 and played it more than any other game ever. BFV came out and I hated it because I felt the entire style and balance of 1942 was not there at all. Then came this garbage called BF2 with lame features like UAV, commander arty, the cone of fire, crappy vehicle damage system, and horribly designed maps (and few of them too).

The only reason I stuck around was for mods and to mod the game myself but then I found that most of the content was "off limits" and we lacked access to some of the biggest features. We still made a hell of a mod in my opinion along with other mod teams that continue to impress me daily.

BF3 as I said, just sounds like more of the same mistakes. The direction that Dice is heading since 1942 just makes me sick. They had a great and winning formula and just tossed it all out the window. I really hope that a true competitor comes in and makes the games that BF2 should have been (Like some mods have done). Time will tell I guess but Dice will not get another cent from me and that is a real shame.

        Spot on L3adCannon and Greasy_Mullet.

I was worried i was the only person who hasn't noticed the minimalist trend of the BF series since 1942.

BF1942 had heaps of maps on release and more in following patches, multiple environments, several different factions, had 4 gamemodes, and netcode that already supported 64 players with good hit registration. Sure there were some bugs on release but nothing as bad as BF2.

EA/DICE now seem to just focus on stats, and gimicky skill less features which just get annoying after a week.

[Update 4] Further investigation reveals that EA DICE owns the domain “battlefield3.com” (not so important, since it was registered in 2004, so was battlefield4.com etc.). Still no reply from DICE. Stay tuned for further updates.

I think it's way too early to make a judgement one way or another. Who knows, this might have been an intentional leak to the community by EA to get some initial reactions.

Personally, I like the idea of more modern combat, but EA needs to get a bit more creative than what is in this leaked release. From how it's described, it does look like they are catering the majority of their players - but I hope EA doesn't forget that not everyone likes to play karkand style maps 24/7. Some of us actually like big armor maps.

Either way, I'm going to be playing FH1 exclusively by then anyway.

havent read all the replies, as that would take aaaages. if what i say has already come up, oh well.

right, the cap of 40 players could be a good thing. cause lately 64 player maps just aint cutting it.

all the unlocks- weps, ammo, body armour etc. idea has clearly been taken from BF2142. however, i wouldn't say that this is a bad thing.

and now to it being on vista. maybe i need correcting, but i doubt it that XP ran as smooth as it does now, when it was first released, and that everyone had released compatible drivers before the launch. bearing in mind that vista woulda been out 2 years by the potential release of this game, anyone with a brain will switch eventually, also consider the fact that XP support will not last forever! put it this way, if i'm not on vista this time next year, then i will eat my hat!!!!

no. the term racism is so wrongly used these days that most people don't even know what it means. if ya want an example of racial discrimination, look into the KKK, which as i happens was mainly based in the US.

more to the point, in current affairs it basically is that. NATO fighting resistance in the middle east. BAM!

                        No Windows XP Support?

I mean, until a lot of people upgrade (like myself) I won't have vista...

I'm sure I'll have upgraded by the point that this releases, but having no XP support is just crazy.

*I also agree that BF2 was hyped to be amazing (I loved 1942) but it turned out to be a moderate game. This will be hype hype hype, and then because they have all the hype, there's no need to put in any effort.

Once people buy the game, need they do more? *I say yes, but who will make them?

***Applying what I learned last hour in AP government:

By spending our money, we are essentially "voting", we are telling the company that we like what they are giving us, because we are willing to spend our money on it...

So, at the current rate of people buying 2142 and buying this, we are essentially telling EA that we like the way they operate, and to continue it... resulting in even worse support for the community.

Not by a long shot. If you read the announcement it says mostly urban maps. What I'm talking about are El Alamein/Op Smoke Screen kind of maps where you can mass armor and roll. Driving armor around Karkand/Ghost Town type maps gets old fast.

It was pointed out to me earlier that it actually 80 players per map and 40 per team.

Untill its reduced in a patch because the netcode cant handle it....

I have a strong feeling that we will see another army or two show up in booster/expansion packs. But hey, playing the EU might be fun as heck...guess they want to make up for Euroforces not being well received?
