This is Forgotten Hope 2 for Battlefield 2. That is why the news is found on this site, which is named Total BF2.

Player Models/Skins would be a monumental update. You can't make a serious release of a WWII mod with players running around in modern day BDUs. They also take alot of work. Every centimeter of every skin has to be detailed, and I would imagine making a face look good is alot harder than a tank turret. There's also the modelling to do, completely new player models. Animating them is alot of work as well, asuming they don't re-use the BF2 animations. Then they need import that all into the game.
So that's potentially 3-4 people each doing quite a bit of work for each character designed.
So I hope that's what the update will be. I'd imagine it marking a pivotal moment of FH2 development and would bring us that much closer to a release.

Whatever it will be the FH Devs have me intrigued and I can hardly wait for the next update to roll around.

A quote from one of my posts on the FH forums, I think it applies here-

do you honestly think that the BF2 community knows what a beta is? YOU may be content with a small release but the majority of the BF2 community want it ALL, and they want it NOW. If they dont get it all they will complain. The FH Devs have a pretty big image to uphold and first impressions hit hard. People will scramble to a DL link thinking its a full release and when they see its only a few weapons and buggy vehicles there impression of FH will be just that, and when the full release comes out they will be turned away thinking it will be another buggy release.

The Devs will still be flooded with complaints as is with idiots who come in b*tching about how the european campaign isnt included or the pacific campaign etc etc. You cant stop that, it WILL happen, but Im sure the devs have maid peace with that.

The problem is people dont read, they see Forgotten Hope 2 released and they think its the whole bread and butter. They dont bother to read about what is included they just scroll straight down to a DL link.

If it is the playermodels, I will commend the FH2 team very much.

I hear thats its one of the hardest things to create for a BF2 mod (even moreso than BF1942). :)


Can't wait for the next update, I should be able to "convert" a few more clanmembers with it!

I'm in no way involved with the dev team and I still know you're right.

The one thing that amazed me about FH is that every map seemed like a different game. It's as if the units are built for the maps, not the other way around (BF2 seems to build the maps to fit the units).

My thoughts are purely selfish.

I WANT to play FH2.0.
I WANT to experience everything you guys have created.
but
I don't want to do it be playing it all by myself nor with 1000ms pings to some norweigen server running on the 33.6k connection.

When FH for bf42 came out i was sooo saddened by the lack of servers around for it after the initial releases when sooo much work had been put in. At a guess you guys had like 6(?) times more content than the original bf42? (300+ vehicles wasn't it?).

I just don't want what looks to be one of (if not "THE") best upcoming mod for bf2 just disappearing in the the sunset when bf2142 is released. *sniff*

what does 2142 have to do with this? Its another game about something completely different than ww2, just because another gae gets released doesnt mean that an older version of the game gets completely forgotten, and just because people by the game doesnt mean they will throw there older ones in the trash. I still play BF42 quite avidly yet I play BF2 just the same.

People who like futuristic battles will go for just that, but people who enjoy ww2 style action will stay with what they know. Oh and by the looks of the FH forums there wont be any empty servers anytime soon

Dude, it has everything to do with this. I agree with Kooper in a way. You can't deny that BF 2142 is going to take away players from BF2, players that could potentially be playing FH2. Now, to what extent it will steal players I have no idea, but I guarantee you entire clans will be moving to 2142. Kooper's saying that if the mod was released quickly, it would convert players and keep them from deserting BF2 and it's mods more quickly.

and if that quick release is full of bugs, players will associate FH to that buggy first release everytime they update and will be turned off from playing it
