People in the BF2 community whine about stuff and wish that they can do something to make a change, and now have a chance to...

I think being pissed off about game crashes is more that justified. Wouldn't you say?

EA dont need more testers , they need an Exculsive version for Competition players.. competition players vs. pub nubs both sides want totally different games.. and no matter what EA will listen to the bigger majority , which is pub nubs.. Competition will be Killed out of BF2 once and for all in 1.4 release.. (unless mods come out , like BF2PRO)

And what exactly makes you comp players better than us pubbers?? I spent 5 years in the same clan, ran a BF2 ladder and tournament, played in over 100 comp matches in BF2 and over 2000 in other games. Yet when I play BF2 or any other game I always play the same way, to win. So what is it exactly that makes you so great because you play competition?? Really I wanna see your logic, cause I hear this total load of crap all the time.

Im a good player because I am a good player, it has absolutly **** to do with my being in a clan or because I am competitive. If you think your better because you play competition then your a fool, 80% of the players in BF2 play competitively every time they join a server. Its always competitive.....unless your one of the 20% who really (and I mean no offense you know who you are) just suck, then its just for fun.

I'd love to test this beta, cept there isn't any Aussie servers up yet, so so it's either play with a massive ping, or don't play at all.

Though on the plus side, our mod seems to work fine with 1.4...couldn't say the same about the past patches, so that's good to know. :)

I would test it, but it appears to be alittle more then simply installing it, hassle free when going to play 1.3.

Sorry, just seems like too much to do. I want to install. and play. Not make 2 directories, have 16 gig in info for one game........and all the other stuff.

Someone already posted something like this......but couldnt it have been made simplier as far as install and what not?

It would seem to me....that the core or the majority of players who's critique would be valued, are being skipped over. Because I feel the majority of noobs, as this community would call them........simply isnt going to test anything that might screw their game up, worse then it already is. And yes, i realize there is a read me.........but seriously....who read them? Really. I know you should.......but who does really? Certainly not the majority.

I have 200 members in an internal tournament at 21cwaaf.

I have asked/pleaded for a test server to be raised here in Australia so that we can help. {Colin - Crrrazzy asked about us}
Trying to join and beta test on a server with 250 ping is a bit much. And when I have gotten in, how can I beta test when you are surrounded by morons spawn camping or just stuffing around.

*Beta testing needs a controlled enviroment to be done effectively.

*Test each item, Logging what time, map and players tested.
*Find a bug, Strees test the item for more information, gaining as much information as possible.
*Report the above at regular intervals.

Please Dice/EA, allow us too help you.

I have even offered to host a non-ranked test server on our own windows box to be included but still No Aussie test server.

12) Commander is able to spot an enemy even without Scan or UAV. He should have spotting ability only while scan is in progress. When scan is over and info about enemy had disappeared, he should not be able to spot enemies until next scan/UAV.

Uh, you do know that commanders can zoom in all the way to spot enemies right? I don't think that's a bug.

And I was reading CGW and DICE said that they have made a 600% improvement to the server browser in BF:2142, WTF! We've been waiting for over a year for decent server browser and they decided to improve it in the next iteration of BF. They need to get there piorities right because right now Crysis is starting to look a hell of lot better right now. Of course a new Operation Flashpoint beats all of them :)

For those who don't know what Operation Flashpoint is, it's a true mans war game. None of that stupid 4 man super squad crap like GRAW. It's basically raw War where tanks are meant to be feared, and jumping idiots die in an instant.

the main problem with installing is that BF2 is so damn big that I cant afford to have 2 copies of it on my machine, It takes about 2 hours to fully copy the BF2 folder and then when Im almost finished it says I dont have enough room on my hardrive.(and no Im not going to just "clear up some space" I barely have enough room as is)

Having 2 full copies of BF2 destroys my computer and thats why Im not testing it.

Ummm I completely understand both Leagues as I have been playing on 1 or the other or both +others for more than 6 years in many games. Including All BF games,BFV POE Infantry included. YOu still havent yet explained why you believe that your better than a pubber. As I said the majority of players arent just passing time here ya know, when they load a map they immeadietly go into competition mode, sometimes as a team, other times lone wolf. As a matter of fact I have seen many clan players who just plain suck. For that matter having run competitions and a clan for many years It occurs to me that no one bitches about stuff as much as a clanner. Pubbers for the most part, play the game and "adapt" to the changes made. Clanners complain that they cant squad hop wins anymore (Which is essentially what every top team at your listed sites used to win matches, yes I know from experience so dont try to convince me otherwise), they took away your bunnyhopping and you cried, its always the same with your type. You think because your playing in a match everything should be for you, Bah.

So yes please explain what makes you better, telling me that those sites dont like the changes just mans you cant handle the changes and adapt to them like the average "pub nub" has to. Instead you whine about it more than any pub nub could ever hope to. Your assertion that the game is going to crap is debatable since theres still around 50-60 thousand players playing it. Actually the changes to the game are for the community as a whole and not just for you and your precious leagues.

I downloaded both beta patches, the READ ME FIRST.doc was in beta 1 but not beta 2 zip file.

Helpful Tips:

Installation steps to protect your original BF2 install:
Beta Installation

1. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
2. Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Copy”
3. Right click anywhere away from this folder and choose “Paste”
4. Once the copy has completed, you will have two folders named “Battlefield 2” and “Copy of Battlefield 2”
5. Install the patch 1.4 beta, then start the game as normal

When you wish to switch back to the release version of BF2, use the following steps:

1. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
2. Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Rename”
3. Rename the folder to something like “Battlefield 2 Beta”
4. Right click the “Copy of Battlefield 2” folder
5. Rename the folder the “Battlefield 2”
6. Start the game as normal.

The shortcut will run BF2.exe from whichever folder is named “Battlefield 2” and both installations share the same registry entries.

Using the above steps will negate the need to completely uninstall and re-install whenever you wish to switch from the retail version to the beta version and vice versa.

This is not my first Beta I have tested for an online game. Most of my Testing has been with the Mechwarrior series game, starting with MW2 Mercs and with Mods for MW4 Mercs for MekTek {also was a Alpha Tester} and NBT HardCore.

In each of the later 2 Beta's, we had either a separate install or a switcher that allowed you to test the beat or play the regular game online.

When you had to update the Beta you did not have to uninstall the previous Beta, but add on like a patch.

I do believe this is one of the Major stumbling blocks on why most of us have not participated in the 1.4 patch beta. The point I am trying to make is, EA/Dice needs to make the 1.4 Beta proccess easier for all that play BF2 and the upcoming BF2142 Beta to install and update Beta game content.

finally found a populated server, played Jalalabad, had a good time, no bugs to speak of. Was nice to not get wiped by jets and choppers. Granted, pilots in general are very skilled, anymore they are too skilled, and end up ruling and eventually ruining the round, so it was nice to have ground-only fighting.
Are there any US servers, btw?
