I have tried it out, and I do appreciate the fact that EA/Dice are finally starting to want to get involved more with the community.

I still have 1.4 installed, but due to the fact that barely any people are playing, I don't play it much.

People in the BF2 community whine about stuff and wish that they can do something to make a change, and now have a chance to... But what do they do? OMG IM NOT INSTALLING BETA STUFF, OMG THATS TOO MUCH WORK FOR ME TO DO... Yada yada yada, if you guys truely cared about the longevity of BF2, you'd give 1.4 beta a shot. It's really not all that bad on installing 1.4 and still be able to play 1.3.

I enjoy Jalalalabad, and can't wait for the 1.4 official patch. I will continue to try out any beta patches. But until a lot more people get un-lazy and participate, then I won't be playing as much.

Would also like to see some more 1.4 beta US East Coast servers as well. Lag doesn't help much when beta testing something (can't tell if it's lag or the patch it self).

I have tested BF2 1.4 on numerous ocassions but found that the patch was fine. The only problem i have with it is there is still a glitch in building on a map and no one takes a blind bit of notice. Maybe i will play some more now... keep it going peeps if you think theres something wrong tell DICE/EA!!

I think I know the cause of the AF and EF beta server emptiness at least... All who put their last hope into the beta and downloaded it were not this stupid to buy anything before the main game is fixed :).

BTW:
Where is Beta 3 with a first anti-dolphin-diving measure etc.? My fun is fading while playing inf-only on jalalalalabad this way... The Beta releases are coming too rarely IMO.

I've posted several of the bugs that I found in Beta 1 on their official "bug posting" list, and not a single one of them got fixed by the time of Beta 2. The login process is a lot faster in 1.4 Beta 2 then it is in 1.3. But they need to fix stuff like the imbalance of the J10 vs other planes, or the fact that airplanes totally dominate a map vs ground vehicles/units. No "rock/scissors/paper" there anyways.

As for beta's, does anyone know how the 2142 beta is suppose to work? Will it be as open as the patch beta's have been, or do we need to apply to join the beta?

You see...no one is playing that because no one believe in testing. Look at changelog for beta 1 and 2 and you will see that nothing was fixed. New map and new infantry mod is just to keep us quiet.

1.4 Beta 1:

- Reversion: Allowing unlocks on unranked servers(to make msile on noobs faces)
- Fix/Reversion: We fixed the issue preventing mod teams from running multiple game modes in one map list.(Added in 1.3)
- Tuning: We have lowered the number of players needed to start a ranked game.(playing 32 map with 8 players are not fun so what...)
- Tuning: We have made some modifications to the vehicle drop feature introduced in 1.3. These changes should reduce the overall impact of "cartillery" on game play.(added in 1.3)
- Crash Fix: We have located and fixed a crash connected to 1.3.(added in 1.3)

Beta 2

Road to Jalalabad:
- Tickets adjustements
- Removal of 1 US tank to help address balance issues.

No Vehicles Option:
- Added a new Server Browser Filter option for No Vehicles
- Return Health to default BF2 level
- Return Medic pack and Revive values to Default BF2
- Default spawn times to Default BF2 setting.
- No Vehicles is now a ranked server option!

We kept:
- Keep the current sprint bar setting (I.e. 2x sprint)
- Keep the current Vehicle exclusion list (i.e. we are not introducing light jeeps etc, just keeping the boats on Carrier levels).

Beta 2 is only for new map and game mod. So we have 3 bugs fixed in 1.4 for now and two useless addons. All 3 bugs was added in patch 1.3. So what the hell they were doing whole this time? Tell me? No vehicles/guns balance until now. Still almost 50 bugs in game so what for are those beta test? They know what is wrong in that game but they don't care about that. They are making new "hiper cool BF" and they give us new map and mod ONLY to keep us quiet and help selling 2142 which will be "less bugged. Our testers are doing theit job much better now" NOW? And what about this game which already you have sold out?

They said that 1.4 will fix many bugs not changing game but hey they fix only 3 bugs and change infantry AGAIN.

You can apply to this beta by dropping by your local games dealer this october :).

I installed it, played it for a while, although part of the reason i dont play anymore is the lack of people, but also its in the second beta now, and all they have given us is IO changes.

I read somewhere that they aren't going to implement any gameplay changes untill the CTD problem is fixed completely. Well when will that be?

Change the BF2 Beta program to be a seperate self/installer executable.

THEN I will beta test, I refuse to risk destroying my retail installion if something went wrong with the convoulted Beta intstall instructions.

Another reason is the lack of extensive Change List. Indicates a lack of motivation by DICE or EA to really fix BF2 completely before 2142.

uhm y not just make a copy of the bf2 folder install patch and rename theres a guide to it somewhere,, its not rocket science...

as for the topic... why test something which in itself is well useless? okay people wanted more maps but not a new game mode, bf2 would be fine if they actually botherd to fix the original problems 1st time around...

kinda reminds me of MS they release a Service Pack to supposedly fix problems when it just ends up making more all so they can just pi$$ you off

From the video i watched of some guy at dice, forgot his name, it was the 40 minutes long interview one. He said that the Beta program for 2142 will be INVITE only.

I will install it as soon as I find a possibility to gain more space for the backup of the old files... my HD is pretty packed right now. But I do appreciate that there is an open Beta for everyone.
