    Re: solution for claymores ?

Personally I don't think teamates should be able to walk in front of them. Kinda like how I don't think teamates should be able to run over AT mines. It's just rediculous that DiCE listened to the newbs who had no idea what the skull/crossbones were. Claymores were fine where they were. Now they are just rediculous. Lay a claymore, dance in front of it, then get chased by a guy, and he dies from it. They should TK, but you shouldn't loose points, much like what happens with the commanders artillery.

And for the love of god, why can't explosives destroy claymores? That's just silly as well.

Claymores are far from making the game unbalanced... Considering the role of the sniper and how on average, they don't do much for the team in general, they do require certain "skillsets", i.e. the claymore.

Firstly, as for FF, don't even go there. The amount of times people get TK'd by their own stupid fault and punish goes without saying - getting claymored by your own teammates happened way too often even when there was the big freakin red skull there. The solution would be able to difuse it; or be able to shoot it from a distance. Forget the grenading because with all the random bombs and nades going off, they would never be of any use to anyone (if you are referrring to true skill that is - which is what this debate is about) One thing I would prefer is the trigger distance to be shortened. This is hard for me to say as I'm a sniper most of the time, but it IS unfair and I do get frustrated myself when I spot a claymore and tread lightly only to find myself getting killed when I was nowhere NEAR it.

If the sniper is hiding and waits till his other claymores detonates to place a few more, well thats one more person you don't really have to worry about. If the claymore is blocking access to the only flag your team doesn't hold, well f*ck it, you're winning, go find the damn sniper and punish him instead of running straight for the flag gung-ho like an idiot. If the claymore is blocking the only flag you can capture at that time, find another one and stop whining. You say "why is the claymore the ONLY thing that has FF off?" Most people aim at the enemy so FF will be sparce, somewhat. You can more or less direct what you are shooting at. People dont intentionally place claymores to nail friendly targets (most anyway) - FF on will just make it absolutely useless, you might as well remove it and give the sniper something else (bonus points for kills maybe? for all the negative points and bans you'll get for teamkilling) *joke*

If anything is somewhat unbalaced or something I dislike, is the medics. You blow someones head off and they come running and revive them, yay, and you can repeat this process till you nail the same guy in the face 10 times. I think that is stupid. Medics should be able to heal and NOT revive. Yes, BF2 is supposed to be more fun and arcade-ish, but this is just silly. What kind of soldier gets his face blown off, gets revived and is 100% combat affective? :hmm:

they are out of control. anyone who hasnt seen it go into 64 man karkand and see it. you say snipers have no place on team. they have claymores. if ff is off, each claymore is guarantee'd a kill. there is a million support players, you can get more ammo from them. out of control. snipers should have one claymore, and not be able to get more.

It is designed primarily to be used in ambushes and as an anti-infiltration device against enemy infantry

To all of your complaining about protecting flags with claymores, eat your heart out. And to all of you that say that is being abuse in karkand, maybe they are, here's an idea go behind the enemy, take a jeep, and go to the last flag. Also play a different map. Most of the people complaining probably only play on the 24/7 karkand maps. Get a tank, and whore it. Do something but please quit wining, **** be a sniper and put some clay's down yourself.

I didn't say they had NO place on team, I said they don't on average, do much for the team i.e. getting flags etc which is what usually wins unless you manage to get enough kills so that flag keeping is irrelevant (impossible with a sniper)

Each claymore is guaranteed a kill - Yes, if you are one of those idiots that keep on running through the same alley. Personally, on any map, I would be more worried about a freakin tank/apc/plane/gunship/spec-ops/assault/engineer/medic/anyone else-but-a-sniper who has spotted me, than a claymore.

A lot of the times, I hear/see people complaining about people whoring etc. When the solution is so simple as to spawn at a different flag or FLANK. Yes, F-L-A-N-K. For once, just once, take a different route and go somewhere an enemy doesn't expect you to go. Jeeesh. People seem to be like Bart Simpson in this game, doing the same thing over and over again.

I don't think you understand the game, that person gets kills, every kill is a ticket loss for your team, he doesn't die, so his team never looses tickets for him, meaning, the fact you don't have to worry about him is a problem

i dont get why ppl say claymores were fine with friendly fire on.....i had ppl intentionally run into my claymores so they can bust a nut with a punish....

i was on karkand, i placed a claymore where enemy ppl were approaching through the fence-opening....a 'friendly' retard runs up to it....stops in front of it....like he sees it, and wants to be smart about it....then he continues to run into it, dies, and punishes me...WTF!!

because of Ç0ck-suckers like this b!tch, friendly fire has to be removed

which is why claymores are for covering your sniping spot.

Oh come on rombaft :) Yes, the sniper might get a kill or two. Are you telling me that as a spec ops or any other type of infantry, you CAN'T do more damage than the sniper in term of kills?!? Puh-lease! Snipers will/can never kill ENOUGH people on the other team faster than ticket bleeding by holding flags.

I usually play Mashtuur and snipe, quite often I'm in the top ten, sometimes third, rarely second or first. When that happens, that usually means the guys on our team aren't doing their job or aren't "whoring" enough with the armour. I do cause problems for the other side, but if I'm running around like a prat and showing myself by staying on stupid roof tops and sniping from the most obvious of places (like 99% of other snipers do) I barely have any influence on the outcome of the battle.

Bottom line, the other infantry roles are much more affective in the outcome of the battle; everytime I've seen my side with 30% or more snipers, we get a proper a$$ whoopin - claymores shouldn't stop you from winning a battle, literally.

yes, they can. support behind a sniper with a medic CANNOT be killed. claymore after claymore, until you experience it you wont know, and the only way to counter it is either armor or do it yourself

hmm, I begin to see what the problem is here, fact is, I play almost only BF2:SF , and in SF about half the flags of the map can't be reached with vehicles, and are only infantry, not only that, but to reach those flags you need to go by small corridoors, hallways, alleys, ladders, ...

so for starting, you can't take some armor or jeep or whatever to go over them, and those points are prety crowded, meaning you can't just run around with your medic, it's fighting your way true the buildings etc.... so the medic doesn't have much chance for reviving you , also the area's are prety tight meaning one clay almost always takes out one or more guys , and there is the main problem of claymores, they spam them big time , place is filled with claymores , can you see my problem now ??

Umm.. ok. Someone needs to learn how to read, or at least take in what's been said.

Who said anything about a medic/support? I thought we were talking strictly snipers now. Jeesh...

In response to rombaft, I don't play SF but I can imagine that if you can only go through corridors/hallways/etc to get to flags, then I see the reasoning behind your complaint. This goes back to my initial response: some kit should be allowed to diffuse claymores, or they should detonate when being shot.

Have you ever seen a real Claymore go off? M18A1 Directional Mine. One ought to clear the whole courtyard in front of the Palace.

Or is that you simply don't like them being used as a weapon? Would you rather them only used for defence is that it?

If so why? I love claymores exactly as they are.
so do most claymore whore snipers who have always had sh*tty scores on account of their complete lack of skill, adaptability or intelligence.

the entire game revolves around claymores in urban areas, and the only way to get them to their proper place is a severe nerf.

even ladder guardians stop the knife medals, which is bad. all snipers are useful for is knife kills anyway.

there should be a price to pay for sucking so much you HAVE to play as a sniper to get a half decent score, AND not even bothering to check your back every 4 minutes.

a magical pair of claymores should not be a substitute for skill.

currently any 5 year old sniper can drop two claymores in hotel, go in a corner and suck his thumb until he gets two free kills.

this more than anything else, noob tubes and c4 whores and tank camping COMBINED, has hurt urban maps in BF2. it needs to be changed, and soon.

like i dont blunder around corners into them all the time, i adapt, but that adaption is in a way of getting into an APC and shooting 15 snipers, something that the community will not like anyway.

and yeah, in real life a claymore will kill anybody within 100 feet, but BF2 has nothing to do with real life, unless you want a single M16 round to kill instantly. and no defribillators. or respawns. or appearing tanks.
