Re: My war against the claymore lamerts .

well I feel about claymores much as I do about c4 and nades.

setting booby traps anywhere on the map so that they are set it and forget it is potentialy asking for bias. I would like to see nades cookable (upto 3 seconds) and I would like to see c4 only deployable to things you are touching (dropping it would land at your feet). c4 requires a detonator and triggering by the operator, they die c4 is rendered harmless. claymores being set anywhere as traps is not so much in line with the way the rest of BF2 works.

Perhaps makeing it so the claymore has a timed life span, and then it auto disapears or auto detonates and then is returned to the sniper inventory or not.

Perhaps make claymores only placeable withing a specific range to the owner. That is if the sniper moves to far away it disapears or explodes.

releying on the sniper rifle to defend the sniper up close is not the issue. Claymores imho should be primarily used to protect the sniper as they have no field of view at any one instance. they must drop out of zoom to see what is going on around them and the added protection of a rear guard makes sense. Useing claymores as defensive measures to defend positions and passageways or flags is not in keeping with the rest of the BF2 game mechanics of other kits and their capabilities.

Makeing it so claymores are visible to friendlies did warn them from danger but didn't keep a sniper from closing off all movment of any player in regaurds to them. Makeing claymores FF friendly opened up their placement options as one way passages.

the game without claymores all together would not give the sniper class much of an ability as a commander scan can spot them and they are open to all attacks. Makeing claymores so as to be more connected to the sniper directly would put the sniper in at least some sort of involment with their function. See a claymore sniper must be near somewhere, get killed by one and aquade knows one is in the area. sniper gets free kill but is to some degree compamised and must then take action personaly.

    That sounds reasonable to me.

Claymores need to be destroyable, bottom line.

If you run around a corner and right into a claymore and die, np you deserved it.

But if you *SEE* a claymore sitting there and you have no way around it and no way to destroy it, that's just bad game mechanics. (e.g. palace flags on warlord). And no, taking one for the team is not an acceptable solution.

Right now if I know there is a claymore sitting there in the palace I just wait for another friendly to run by and eat it. It's silly to have to do this but it works.

funny thing is, that ive died by claymore maybe 10 total times after the 1.2 patch. i realy cant see the problem. yes, warlord palace is full of them, but hey, this map has 7 other flags if i recall corectly, so i go there, instead of dying and frustrating myself. and i dont like the warlord palace fighting anyway.

as for the medics - they are not going to bother with healing/revive as long as their guns are better than assaults. i play medic JUST because of guns. i dont revive nor heal. blame me, but it is true. as long as medics guns are so good compared to grunts weapon.. well.. i choose a weapon and dont care what kit it is put into.

due to inteligence of average player [13, male, fat] i think that AT mines should be left as they are now, but claymores should be made destroyable. end of story.
of course that is not gonna happen, as dice made all explosives into one type, and there is no way of separating mines from claymores [no easy= cheap way]

Make that 6 flags because the TV station is off limits too.

Everytime I hear someone say "i never die to claymores" I already know a few things about them: what type of maps they play and where they don't go. The palace makes or breaks your team on warlord, it's a well known fact. You can win without the palace flags but its significantly easier to win if you hold the palace.

I don't die very often to claymores either because i know all the popular claymore spots and i keep an eye out for them. That doesn't mean I don't think it's stupid that they can't be blown up with grenades or C4 though.

palace isnt as important as guards station or hideout - but it feels otherwise because of massive ticket loses due to casualties. i prefer to play rebel on this map [silent rpgs..] and i've won it many times while sas held palace and destroyed our assets. due to incredilble count of sas players fighting in the palace stealing their tank or apc is a milk run. and then..

maybe a bit offtopic, but the palace is important for winning the map , if the SAS takes in the palace, you take away the APC spanpoint from the rebels, can destroy there assets, have good acces to tank spawn point of the rebels, ....

only thing i never liked was when 1.2 came out, people could spam 5 of em, thankfully that was removed

i do think the radius for detecting an enemy should be decreased a tad, since 1.2 ive been much more carefull for claymores, i hate trying to just peak around a corner and getting blasted to oblivion

guys who are using them more now then it use to be, are just lamerts, who couldn't kill before and now finaly they have the weapon who doen't require skill
Sounds an aweful lot like an AT Mine.

Says who? Medics are there for a reason.

Gameplay seems to be fairly balanced to me as it is. I wouldn't mind if claymores were destructable but it should take possibly C4 or something like that. I try to spread out my play time between maps and I never have experienced a problem with claymores that affects gameplay.

I don't imagine you would have a problem with claymores if this is you:

Claymores affect people who walk around on the ground.

The only thing that needs to be done is make them destructable by grenade or other explosive. That's it.

If you don't charge head first into an area, you will be fine. As it is now, I approach a flag and look around before I run up to it. Claymores are not invisible. If it's sitting there, don't run up in there. Call for backup and hopefully a medic or engy shows up.

FF needs to stay off. Every other kit can use every piece of their kit. Why should the sniper be afraid to use a claymore because some chucklehead on his team will run into it? Simply being able to destroy them with explosives would be plenty.

You can only lay 2 at a time anyhow. Unless you die, at which point you can spam out a couple more before the first ones vanish. Big deal. I have rarely been killed by a claymore because I pay attention.

Just because you don't like getting killed by them and get frustrated because they kept you from capping a flag is no reason to nerf them and make the snipers even more useless. Guess what..... you are not supposed to cap flags easily. Deal with it.

Re: My war against the claymore lamerts .

Agreed, I like having FF off for mines and claymores, but on urban maps with marrow passages spamming them is all too common. a Few servers I've played had about a quarter of either team running around as snipers claymore spamming. I've actually used SF's tutorial to rename Claymore to Gaymore in my localization files.

All that is necesarry is to make them destructable again, or I like the range/timeout idea too. In RL chucking a nade at one would definitely set it off, so there's a solution for realist peeps.

When I snipe I don't use claymores. I stay aware of my environment and if someone is getting too close to me, I fall back or head for some allies. Claymores are currently the ultimate noobcannon: the only skill required is holding a W key pressing 5 and left clicking once.

to anyone who is trying to make the point that "oh in real life if you saw a claymore you'd quit and go home waa waa blah blah "

you are right in saying that if you see a claymore, you deal with it, find another way.

what is ****ing people off, i imagine like rombaft, is when people play sniper class and they don't even use the rifle. i lost count of how many people i saw on karkand the other night running in the thick of the fighting THROWING claymores AT PEOPLE. forget about using them to CYA while you're sniping, these fags were using them to assault.

                                ASSAULTING with claymores.....

^^^^ this is what is retarded, this is what makes a claymore whore, THIS is what ****es me off.
