i was playing warlord and by the tv station there was tons of claymore and i couldnt even get that flag because i was getting killed by claymore over and over and over again
well I feel about claymores much as I do about c4 and nades.
setting booby traps anywhere on the map so that they are set it and forget it is potentialy asking for bias. I would like to see nades cookable (upto 3 seconds) and I would like to see c4 only deployable to things you are touching (dropping it would land at your feet). c4 requires a detonator and triggering by the operator, they die c4 is rendered harmless. claymores being set anywhere as traps is not so much in line with the way the rest of BF2 works.
Perhaps makeing it so the claymore has a timed life span, and then it auto disapears or auto detonates and then is returned to the sniper inventory or not.
Perhaps make claymores only placeable withing a specific range to the owner. That is if the sniper moves to far away it disapears or explodes.
releying on the sniper rifle to defend the sniper up close is not the issue. Claymores imho should be primarily used to protect the sniper as they have no field of view at any one instance. they must drop out of zoom to see what is going on around them and the added protection of a rear guard makes sense. Useing claymores as defensive measures to defend positions and passageways or flags is not in keeping with the rest of the BF2 game mechanics of other kits and their capabilities.
Makeing it so claymores are visible to friendlies did warn them from danger but didn't keep a sniper from closing off all movment of any player in regaurds to them. Makeing claymores FF friendly opened up their placement options as one way passages.
the game without claymores all together would not give the sniper class much of an ability as a commander scan can spot them and they are open to all attacks. Makeing claymores so as to be more connected to the sniper directly would put the sniper in at least some sort of involment with their function. See a claymore sniper must be near somewhere, get killed by one and aquade knows one is in the area. sniper gets free kill but is to some degree compamised and must then take action personaly.
That sounds reasonable to me.
The simple solution is to allow grenade destroy the claymore. End of story.
lol, ur one of those dumbasses that used to see the big red skull and cross bones, run toward it knowing its probably a claymore, get tked, and then punish arent u rombaft? yea...ur an idiot go buy a new game if ur gonna whine about it. kthxbye
Well ive been killed by one claymore in about 14 hours of 1.22, and i actually use them well; not spamming around map: for example on mashtuur inside the building next to the mosque, i was sniping, the enemy caps the flag. Uh-oh it thought, i knew i would die but i may aswell take them with me; i laid looking onto the entrance and laid a claymore. BOOM! One MEC down. I then lay another one in exactly the same place, another guy sprints up the stairs and boom hes gone aswell. An easy 2 kills from "mindless" laying. It was a good tactic, it didnt require any skill; but that doesn't mean it is a lame tactic! Point being you dont have to be a genius to lay claymore; there is no skill involved and there never was before 1.2+ I do however agree that nades should blow them up.... :)
Claymores ARE a huge problem. Where I play, ESPECIALLY on Kark. map, A HELLO of a lot snipers, they put claymorores EVERYWHERE, and the most annoying thing is when claymore explodes even though you were on the other side of the road. **** me off.
I still say let kits difuse their own types of explosives. IE snipers difusing enemy claymores...and spec pos difusing enemy c4 packs. After all, if they use it, don't you think they'd know how to difuse them?
I HATE the claymores. They are almost always abused, and there is no way to stop them. I wish DICE would put FF on for the claymores to stop this problem. I hope they dont put FF on for the AT mines, though.
I love running into an enemy spawn and dropping two of my babies (clays) then getting shot to crap by about 20 guys, what makes that worth it is the next few kills I get while re-spawning and running back to do it again.
Or even better getting cornered somewhere, dropping a mine right in front of the enemy then getting killed, they cant move or else they set off the mine... BOOM .... me lol ha!
Claymores affect people who walk around on the ground.
Please don't argue statistics with me. Statistics can be interpreted how you want. You suggest I don't ever get on the ground. If you mean that I fly alot, then you could be right but it depends on if you think 31% of my playing time is alot. I would be inclined to say that 69% of my time is spent out of an aircraft. To me, it would seem that the vast majority of my play time is spent out of an aircraft. But, I'll be fair to you and include ALL vehicles and AA, etc. Roughly 46% of my time is spent in something or another, including jeeps, etc. Even saying that, 54% of roughly 176 hours is spent ground-pounding. So you're trying to tell me that in roughly 94 hours spent on the ground (or around 70 days at my average daily playtime) I wouldn't have had the chance to find out if claymores affect my gameplay? I think I might have spotted a problem had there been one. I'll add that I have spent only about 8 hours at karkand but all that has been recently and I almost never get in a vehicle there. Never seen a big problem with claymores. They are fine how they are now. I would accept that they could get blow up with C4, however.
OK guys, I don't wurry about the clays anymore, and you know why ?
because the next patch will change some things, first off al will the clays able to be picked up by other snipers and ......
they will be destroyable again by nades and stuff (got this from good resorce).
Meaning, good placed clay will still do there job, noob placed mines will just get blown up and maybe even take some TK's for the guy who placed them there, actualy this means clays won't be realy usefull anymore in situations as hotel on karkand and palace on warlord
