I have a similiar setup as you.

CPU:P4 3.0HT
RAM:Munskin PC3200 2-3-3-4 1GB * 2
GFX:ATI:X800xt AIW (With After maket GPU Fan)
HD:Western Digital SATA 120GB

After the patch my frame rates went to the crapper, I uninstalled driver and installed omega drivers. (old catalyst versions)

I get somewhere between 80 to 60fps - never goes below 50.
Everything is set to Medium
Viewing distance is maxed
1280*768
AA*2

The difference between everything high, and everything medium, is well worth the 10-20 fps you lose.

All i know is its a souped up Dell Inspiron 6000 with 1Mb RAM. i really have to see what my fps is tho, i've never thought to look.

hey what driver version of omega did you get? that could be really helpful, especially since you say that your fps never drops below 50.

I get around 50 fps, although sometimes hitting above 60. No skipping, except in the very begining. Then its all nice.

If you have an Nvidia card, do a *complete* uninstall of the drivers (3dguru.com) , download and reinstall your drivers - the newest are not necessarily the best, so look a rev or two back if need be. This can be tedious, your mileage may vary. After you install your new card drivers, make certain to re-install Direct x each time. Lastly, do kill as many background processes as you can. You will likely have seriously crappy performance if you have file sharing drivers running in the background (yeah, obvious, but thought I would be complete). Get a decent disk defragger. Are you running NTFS? If so, crak open your command prompt and do a chkdsk /r it will fix any simple issues with the volume. Look for a package that will defrag your MFT. Clean your registry using freeware tools if you are comfortable doing so ( easyclean is free and does a decent enough job - google it).

what if im using ATI catalyst drivers? should i get "driver cleaner pro" and then get omega drivers?

Definately on the drivers. For NTFS Diskkeeper is a good one from Executive Software. They have a free trial window (use your imiagination heh) uninstall it after your usage as it has a bit of overhead of it's own if left installed. There is a function to defrag the MFT at next boot - BEWARE, it runs for a hella long time. When it reboots, the blue screen similar to the chkdsk /r screen will appear but take a bunch longer to run if your MFT has 4 or more segments. You can get a fragmentation report before you actually do this though that will tell you how many MFT frags you have. If you have two or less, it is not worth it. Three or more, set aside a night you do not want to play... depending on how much stuff you have on your drive.

also i downloaded and installed the newest OMEGA driver 3.8.231 and the performance is pretty much the same. I get about 30fps in heavy firefights and I still think I should be getting more with my setup: p4 3.0, x800xt, 4x512mb corsair xms 3200, audigy 2

one more question: what is WMV acceleration and should I have it enabled?

guys i think im not getting enough FPS for the setup that I have

on maps like KARKAND it sometimes dips below 30FPS!!!

average on most maps I would say is around 50

here is my setup:

p4 3.0ghz oc 3.2ghz
asus p4c800-e deluxe
sapphire x800xt 256mb
4x512mb corsair xms 3200DDR
audigy 2 zs
western digital 80gb hd ide 7200 (this needs to be upgraded)

still what fps should i be getting, maybe im just trippin and everything is ok but please give me your input and post your FPS and specs.

I had the same 3d card as you and I recommend you try graphic settings
at all medium except texture filtering on high and view distance 100%. I
also recommend the NGO cat 5.8 drivers. They are old but they ran well
with my X800XT. I used them with the special setting for 256mb cards.

The tools I use to keep my Windows XP in shape are TuneUp Utilities 2006
with the registry cleaner and defragmenter and PerfectDisk 7.0 disk defrag.

Avg for me is around 100-110..... best that I recall is around 120-125
Everything set to HIGH, FOV@100, and AAx4..

Although lately I have had some LAG issue... but ping is at 32-40
I have shut processes down and still have some issues...

When my PC was a fresh build,... I NEVER LAGGED.. NEVER EVER EVER... and then the time is now and well...hahaha
