i play mine on 1152x876@85htz max on all the ingame settings and 4xAA,
and on karkland i get,
on the lowest fps its 80 when theres alot going on in an open area,
otherwise its locked on 99.9fps.
im running a 2x4400+, Asus NF4 SLI Deluxe Mobo, 2x1024 DDR400, Gigabyte 7800gt pcie, Audigy 4 7:1, 160 Gig HDD, 19" CRT,
and looks and plays like the dogs.

I have a A64 3000, 2 gigs ram and an x800xl, probably near enough equivalent to your set up, and I get much the same frame rates on 64 player karkand running a mix of med/high at 1280x1024.
I suggest you ignore the vast majority of what most people have to say regarding their framerates.
You will hear a lot of comments from people running cards like a 6600gt saying they get around 80fps on high settings. It is my suspicion that these chuckleheads are running in 800x600 with no AA on 16 player maps that their older (15 years old) brothers are hosting 8 feet away from them.

my processes: i run an antivirus AVG pro (same/almost same fps with it turned off) windowblinds, refreshlock, yzdock (mac OS shortcut bar), aim, mIRC usually when i game. im concered a bit because i have like 6 svchosts.

as to my graphics everything on MEDIUM AA 2x on 1024x768 or 1280x1024...right now im actually using the highest one 1600x and the fps seems exactly the same or even better which is strange

50 fps isn't bad at all (regardless of setup, thats much better fps than what I have), and slowdowns when alot of stuff goes on at once is normal....

Alot depends on your graphics settings of course, and then if you have tweaked drivers, alot of background programs running, etc...

sigh... i get average of 18fps on a 40 man server.. with almost everything on low... not sure what i should upgrade to achieve better fps and better graphic settings..

Running a much slower processor (2500+ @ 2.3ghz, 1.5gb ram) but using a X800XT with:

on maps like KARKAND it sometimes dips below 30FPS!!!

average on most maps I would say is around 50

here is my setup:

p4 3.0ghz oc 3.2ghz
asus p4c800-e deluxe
sapphire x800xt 256mb
4x512mb corsair xms 3200DDR
audigy 2 zs
western digital 80gb hd ide 7200 (this needs to be upgraded)

still what fps should i be getting, maybe im just trippin and everything is ok but please give me your input and post your FPS and specs.

Your fps seems to be fine for that setup . Even if you havent told us what ingame settings you have. That P4 @ 3.2 is a real blocker. Try to run it @ 3.8Ghz at least. You should see a quite good increase in FPS . I belive you are running your gfx also at stock speeds and that is holding you back also.

The processor is fine, try and download 3dmark05 (google for it) and run it, sure its a big download but it says alot. Post your score back here.

Ive heard audigy 2s' can cause problems, you could try taking that out. What PSU do you have and what is its amperage on it's rails (check sticker on PSU).

Try motherboard driver/bios updates and also chipset updates. You could also try a reformat if you didn't before you installed the new card.

You sound like one of the people that just play Steam games all day, complain about your FPS and how long your SteamID is because you got VAC'd.

FPS with this engine..25 looks smooth.
