Hard to tell for sure just from the numbers without knowing how the engine is using them.

It seems a safe assumption that higher pitch/yaw means more manuverable missiles. This is backed up by it being logical that SAMs would have better manuverability than ATAMs.

A limit of 3 seems very low. It's possible that this was the core cause of missile freakout in 1.2. It was too constrained and caused the missiles to break their own rules and thus preform oddly.

Well I'm looking forward to seeing these changes in effect although I kinda liked A2A after 1.20. Dogfighting (or circle wars) that was taking place before patch 1.20 simply doesn't belong in a modern combat game.

Let's wait until we have some 'real-world' (i.e. gameplay) experience before we go commenting any further.

Awww christ, you're kidding me. What's wrong with it? Impossible to get a lock?

              Here we go again....

Re: Info about AA in 1.21

I reconsidered my position on the changes to dogfighting, it still sucks, and perhaps even moreso in 1.21. For whatever reason when I glanced over the A2A changes I thought they made the airplane missiles LESS maneverable, while making S2A moreso. I thought, great, DICE finally gets it.

Then I realize, they BOOSTED the air to air missiles turn rate, I mean, what are they thinking? Now in 1.21 (and believe me, I'm positive on this if these are the only numbers that effect this), J-10 will rule all the planes even harder. Because the J-10 can turn faster than any plane it'll be the only plane that can get a lock in a dogfight, and will be virtually immune to being locked on to (because the enemy pilot will lose it so quickly).

So now, J-10 will dominate even harder, as if that was even possible.

Making the lock circle much smaller (smaller than 20 even) is a very good change for all AA missiles, but making the lock circle smaller without equalizing the handling on all the planes is a poorly thought out mistake that'll throw the balance of airpower even further in favor of MEC, and China.

                DICE isn't thinking.

I get the feeling though that more is going in to the equation than just those basic numbers, so I'll reserve any further judgement till I've actually played 1.21.

That one did not change. 300m for AA and 375m for A2A.

                      lol...
                      oh well, figures.

for some reason planes and helos have to own. I mean its a game, not real world. Am I jealous when a great pilot comes on and racks up kills, and cant be put down? Nope. Just sorta ruins the whole ground fun.
Im just a grunt on the field walking around usually.

God HOw I love Desert COmbat. In DC.... I was usually ONLY Anti tank guy. And he carried a stinger in his kit as well as an rpg. (oh, no machine gun either) Pistol, Rpg, Stinger. Lets just say this..... with the shoulder powered stingers. FIghters rarely made ground attacks, and bombers dove bombed. On good servers anyways with good players. Because a low flying plane, or one within sight...died. An died hard.

Did you test that PW or it is just your guess? I will be interested to know how those numbers affect the "real world"

                          Negative.

I'll test it if somebody gets a server running with 1.21 vanilla and puts it on a J-10 map. Just post the IP in this thread and I'll join up. If anyone has a server (in the US) and is interested in testing this out I'll be glad to participate, and I'll be monitoring this thread for the first IP I see.

Just use your server browser to find a server :) there are about 20 servers at this moment running it. (ranked and unranked)

On a side note, you can download the patch from bf2s.com

I really dont know why tbf2 keeps posting about filecloud and fileplanet.. those sites suck haaaaaaard. Filefront > filecloud > fileplanet.

It'll be interesting to see how easy I can pop planes now.. they wont simply be able to climb away from my missles ..

I'll stick the ph34r back into flying
