The "GPU" war ended when nVidia released the 78xx-series GPu. ATi's Crossfire and x1xxx series cards failed to perform on a level with SLI and the 7800s. Best investment for the money right now are dual 7800GTX in an SLI format. Will cost you $1000-1300 for good-quality components, but you'll have a machine that's just about future-proof.

My current specs are:

P4 2.4gHz
1gb Kingston DDR 2700
ATi Radeon X850XT Platinum.

I run at 1024x768 with everything on Medium and draw distance at 100% without trouble. The only reason I don't go higher are lack of RAM (BF2 is happy with 2gb, would be stellar with 4gb).

This is a showstopper. The game will not run at all on any GeForce 4 let alone an MX440 (barring some pixel shader hacks that people were working on when the game was first released; don't know how far they got). The video card must support Pixel Shader 1.4. You'd need to upgrade to at least a GeForce 5200. (For others looking at running on very low-end systems note that Radeon 9200 and 9250 PCI versions apparently do not work at all either although AGP versions do.)

unfortunatly i have to run everything on either off or low.

the only thing i put higher is the view distance, i move that to 100%
it helps as a sniper or pilot.

Regarding "lag" - be careful, people use this term to mean different things :

internet lag = slow to receive response from server
video lag = slow FPS.

Much confusion and arguments occur over this slippery term.

The X1900XTX outperforms everything Nvidia has currently. So, you're wrong. The GPU wars are going. Once the 79xx Nvidia Cards drop I'll probably pick up ATI. I'm usually a die hard ATI fan.

im running

3.2 intel HT
512 system RAM
Nvidia 5200 geForce w/128 ram

my video settings are on the default low setting

i usually play 64 man servers even if they are full i may get a half a second lag but it doesnt happen evry day even.

i got almost 40000 global points playing since october on still the same system.

of course i envy ny friend... he connected his PC to a 32 inch flatscreen, has the ATI 9800 256 ram w/ 2 gigs system RAM . makes me drool when im at his pad

I play with...

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (1.8Ghz) (Uts 1.8 becuase my RAM is not fast enough to support 2.2GHz)

RAM: 1GB PC2700

GFX: BFG Tech Geforce 6800 GS OC 256mb


All works nice, and will be better when i can run my CPU @ 2.2GHz.

1024MB DDR400 Low Latency RAM
NV GeForce FX 5900XT 256MB
SB Audigy 2 ZS
340GB of Free HD Space

and i have to run this Game on low and its still running like crap!

I used to run:
AMD 2800 (2.08ghz)
384MB DDR
ATI AiW 9200 128mb

On all low. Played on 64 man servers with about 30 seconds of lag when entering. And some slight lag after some deaths.

Now I run:
AMD 2800 (2.08ghz)
768mb DDR
Radeon 9800 pro 128mb

Before the new patch I could play on all medium, draw distance 100%, no video lag, ever. Now I have to play on almost all low. A few settings are on medium, but not many. And lag from time to time as well.

What would you all say about me, im getting the game within a week or so and i currently play the demo on low/off with medium textures, geo, and high effects

does that sound right for the full version, or should i drop some or could I even raise some options

I need to run almost all low at 1280x1024 on my midrange pc. I feel like i am just above the minimum requirements...

I feel that my game is terribly choppy and should be much better with my config. I blame it on my little secret...

shh... my computer was once an hp pavilion with an agp slot and 5200fx... crappy motherboard...

But playing on the 5200fx is almost painful, never get above 30 fps and avg about 15 on karkand.

5200 is prob as low as u can go..and i play somewhat decently on 64 player servers
