Grrr... I hate bottom of the page posts. Was hoping that one would go to the next page. I'll do the unthinkable and self quote so folks can see it:

Hmm... what the hell, I'll toss this up too:

Don't you hate it when you get noobed that way?

Edit: this has nothing to do with any argument/debate/(god forbid) Discussion going on here. Just amusing stuff for folks that like planes.
To answer your question, I'm diggin. I used to have tons of this sorta stuff, but I dumped most of it. Just tripped over a folder I missed and figured it's worth sharing.
      Most of it's unrelated though.

Hmm... Here's a clip on a real mobile AA system that's kinda cool:

Boom babe, boom. Every pilot should be very pleased that BF2 mobile AA doesn't hit that hard.

Oh ya... I'm SO looking forward to this:

Anyone who laments these AA missiles because they are 100% accurate needs a slap in the head and fly more :/

I swear, had BF2 1.00 had these missiles, no one would be complaining. At the same time, had Patch 1.20 actually reduced the effectiveness of these missiles as it was before, both pilots and ground pounders would complain its weak like water.

Hey, BK... got any links to Air to Air coolness? Ya seem like a plane buff ta me.

Back on: I made a great discovery a little ealier. Cannon's aren't usless!
Tonight (I was only briefly on so far) I hopped into an unused MEC bomber on cleansweap. As soon as I got in the air, I realised it was perty hostial up there. I desided I'd better focus on air supiriourity. I dogged an ememy F-15 and lit him up. Lost one missile to flares, one to a bad angle, and planted the other 2. I was able to keep on him (much to my suprise... he didn't have nuttin in terms of tricks) and went in for a gun kill (outta missiles, I was in a bomber, remember?). I was able to chew him up a bit more, before he broke for the uncappable base's airstrip.

I ran into a problem with local rules there. Yer not supposed to attack uncapps and while this was a questionable cercumstance, I felt I'd better set a good example and broke off.

Point is, I coulda had him with guns if it wasn't for the rule (I can't imagine anyone else breaking off at that point) and if I'd been a tad more practiced, I shoulda got him before he was able to duck to safty.

Anyway, it this thread and the "dog fights suck now" crowd popped into my mind and I made a note to yap off about it.
            :p

            Now I dun dud dat.

By coolness, you mean videos, sadly nope; I'm not the type of person who loves to search for media gems and jewels like you. I just read, learn, and study aircrafts (moderate) and love to rape both pilots and infantry in BF2 :P

Re: Gift to Pilots stuggling to adapt.

Found another couple gems kicking around... less on topic, but what the hey, hey?

Check out the range on real Hellfires:

                    Tank go gone.

Ever wonder what an AP explosive blast looks like?

Atleast you won't feel any pain.

This has nothing to do with BF2 at all... but it's fruggin cool.

Yup, that's a laser defence turret.

This is a little more on topic... doesn't show anything useful, but it's kinda neat anyway.

And this is kinda cool. Check out the MEC hardware
                    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...0&q=air+to+air
Really interesting to see people doing para-drops from the 'ol Sky Cow!

Man... finding good air combat footage is a pain... but you turn up some interesting things in the hunt.

                      What?!? Nastie_Butler W/L Ratio = 1,812 / 161 (11)
I played with him once and he was a team switcher at the least, but something stinks about this. And before you even start, I humbly admit I suck... :) This is the first FPS I've played this much since the original Wolfenstein.

Re: Gift to Pilots stuggling to adapt.

None of what that dude says in the article (first post by original poster) helps if you are an F35b facing a J10. The missles will simply go through the J10 if he makes eveb the slightest of turns whilst you fired the missle. I have taken out some J10's with missles but they were on a bombing run and/or thought they were invincible and did nothing.

Hell, the missles like the F35b's so much that i get killed more by the USS Essex and Freindly planes more than the J10. Coming to think about it...

Beleive me this happened to me before. I had a solid lock, saw a missle on my 6. Hit the flares. Missle completley ignores flares and hits me square on, then i realise it was a freindly missle. The fact that the missle decides to miss the j10, ignore my flares and hit me instead is a joke. The Air Combat is FUBAR.

[Ahem. I'm not suggesting that BF2 is "realistic". The scale is way to close to be conistered a simulation. However, the basics of modern air combat are still present]

The skill of air combat hasn't been removed... it's been moved. It's no longer about who's got the best framerates/twitch skills. It's about thinking and your knowlage of how modern combat works.

The number one thing to remember now is that if someone gets tone on you and you don't have flares, you've messed up and you're likely to die for it. Intensity has been ramped WAY up. The importance of getting in on your enemy and taking him out fast cannot be underestimated. The skill is now in your manuevers that keep your tail clear while allowing you to drop in on the enemy.

I could wax poetic on the subject for pages and pages (I'm a modern air combat buff), but instead I found ya a great link that covers it all:
                          http://www.saunalahti.fi/~fta/acmintro.htm#Menu

Check it out. Lots to read there, but if you can grasp the basics it will help lots.

Remember that scale is reduced and in turn, acceptable firing angles are looser.

Yes, yes. Feel free to flame and groan and growl rather than adapting and learning. It only means I'll get ta shoot down more out-of-date, has been pilots. I don't got a problem with that.
                          :p
First I would like to say you are probably a noob pilot for one.

But to reply to what you said, no real pilots have a beef with the missiles anymore, they have beef with the balance of planes. Some planes can dodge missiles all the time with super turning (J10) while some always get hit (F35).

I've been playing on my regular account, and before 1.2 my ratio was around 21.00, but since then it has gone up to 23.xx and i've entered the top ten in aviator kills

Not to mention the fact that I could easily get a 100+:1 kd ratio again in 1.22

The problem lies mostly with the J10 being invulnerable to missiles on chinese maps. Since I dont like flying with immunity and I dont like getting shot down by something I cant kill, I very rarely play chinese air maps anymore.

If anything, post 1.2 patch just makes it easier to take down noobs in very little time now. When you go up against other good pilots in equal aircraft (F18 vs Mig 29) it gets really interesting. Yes it does, I owned (CB4)aKaNe, former stat padder, just yesterday :p

The best practise to getting away is being chased by a J10. A noob can shoot you down in a j10, but its sad when two are on your tail and only one missle hits. Now thats when you know what you are a decent piolet. Most people think they are skilled because they can spawn camp a base over and over and be top on that round. Untill i get on a jet and gun them down all round. Then they complaint that im a plane-whore...rather be that then spawn camp the same flag over and over.
