Don't you hate when your mouse hits the bottom of the mousepad, leading to a crash? Happened once in a while. The only way I could die. Now I have to actually worry about AA, too.

Nah, i'm smart and use a trackball mouse. Much better for all round gaming.

      See: Kensington Orbit Elite.

I was being sarcastic. Anyway, you use that for flying jets? But should be better than joystick, since it doesn't keep a constant signal, you have to continue rolling, no?

          It's really great man.

The Orbit Elite's trackball is centered right in the middle of the mouse, so it's easy to control everything with your middle finger. Really comfortable too. Don't need to lift my hand or anything.

9 times out of 10, i escape missiles by doing big flips easily with this thing.

          Check it out Here.

If you're in the US, i don't think you can get that one there.

Any trackball mouse will do, but this one is clearly a comfortable gaming mouse. Massive trackball in the middle? yeaaah.

          It's great for sniping too.

wow that sucks...infantry battles suck in bf2 that's why I played in choppers, and airplanes but now..looks like Im gonna have to go back to SWAT4 and OFP, but will download 1.2 anyway to see how bad it is for planes.

Well, that certainly didn't take long.

I knew the post patch complaints would come rolling in, but I didn't figure they'd start up before it's even offically released!

Well I guess there will no longer be conga lines at the chopper pad.

My god, eleven pages already and no official release even. God forbid the official release is any worse. Is that possible?

Gotta feel for the dev's though, they're in a no win situation here. You just can't please everyone all of the time.

Me? Well, I never fly jets, occasionly fly helo's so I don't mind one bit

Re: Anyone been in the 1.2 air? Its thick... in fact

Hahah, some of these comments just crack me up. Most of you think the good pilots won't have the will and

persistence to stay up in the air and learn to defeat these newly included countermeasures; but it should be obvious... we are.

Some of you were actually quite logical in your saying, " The really good Jetpilots will survive, first not but they will learn. But the absolut domination is over, YEAH."

To me, this means that the Su-34, F-15 and Flanker's days are over with, this is a very possible affect of the new patch. The planes are much slower and have larger profiles, so they're mince meat for the revamped manpad missiles. I only fly fighters, so me and my other flyboys have developed tactics long before this patch came out, we're going back to '42's 'hit and run' maneuvers. Like someone else mentioned, the good pilots will stay out of the way of AA missiles, come back and neutrilize them from the ideal angle of attack, where they won't expect it.

I advise all un-experienced pilots to learn exactly where every manpad is on every map, know where every Tunguska, Linebacker and other mobile AA spawn. Be careful out there, save your flares, use them only in extreme circumstances. Keep moving, don't be an "orbiting" target (very predictable). Once someone has a lock on you, and you don't have time to maneuver back, go low, find a mountain or obstacle to put between you andthe AA to cut off its sensors. Be more aware when strafing, patrolling, or going in for bombing runs; You could be flying at a shallow angle of attack preparing to take out a target with your ordanance, only to be gibbed from the back by two AA missiles you didn't want to scan for. Protect your helicopters as much as you can from AA and other aircraft. This is the role of a pilot in BF2.

I actually love this, this will make for less of the sucky pilots whoring our craft... and it will make flying a thousand times more fun. It gives me butterflies just thinking about it. I dare you to try and take down a veteran, war torn pilot with your fancy new missiles.
Here's our(all seasoned pilots) position fellas... challenge us! ... it will only make us stronger.

                      ...The days of
                      pts|team|kills|dths are not over
                      100+ 20+ 60+ 0+

                      Good luck out there guys,
                      Cheers

wtf are you Pilots cmplaining about?
Your Vehicles are as voulnerable as every other vehicle. Before the Patch you had no needs to watch out for AA's cause they were hitting nothing but Air.
Compared to a Tank you guys are still f***ing lucky, you don't have to defend against Mines, C4, AT Missiles, Grenades, TOW's you just have to shoot some Flares and destroy the AA's and AA Tanks.......

                        SO STFU!!!

None of this whole round bombing runs crap with 60 kills and like 2 deaths and those 2 being rams...

If the planes and choppers are as weak as people are saying I'd have to agree that it's pretty dodgy. But at the same time I don't feel sorry for the flyboys at all since the ground pounders have been on the recieving end of air domination for so long it seems like sweet justice to me.

Still DICE should be aiming for a good balance sometime in the future.

I guess I should start tankwhoring, since they were the only things that did'nt get changed in the patch, and now that they have zero air threat, and you have to get right next to them to hit them with c4, I guess they will be what everyone complains about next.
