Re: Weapons Chart After 1.2 Patch

Can this chart be used to determine the effective range of the weapon? I have tried the sniper L96A1 but have abandoned it because the range seemed to be way shorter than the M95. Is this a fact or just my experience?

As far as i know, only the pistols and the shotguns have a maximum range after which the damage starts to go down to the "minimum damage" which i think is around 8 for the pistol, for example. However, sniper rifles do not have a max range. at lease if you can see someone with the scope and you hit him then he will get the same damage if he were right in front of you. just remeber that the bullet drop becomes more of an issue when your target is few hundreds of meters away from you.

I posted this info in another thread. I calculated bullet drop for sniper rifles. however, note that this does not include the accuracy/deviation. I just calculated where you shoud point at and hope that you will hit! hitting or not hitting is a random statistical thing.

      More calcs!

t is the time to hit the target
      y is the bullet drop

-if the target is 100m away then t=0.10sec and y= 0.05m
-if the target is 150m away then t=0.15sec and y= 0.11m
-if the target is 200m away then t=0.20sec and y= 0.20m
-if the target is 250m away then t=0.25sec and y= 0.31m
-if the target is 300m away then t=0.30sec and y= 0.44m
-if the target is 350m away then t=0.35sec and y= 0.60m
-if the target is 400m away then t=0.40sec and y= 0.78m
-if the target is 500m away then t=0.50sec and y= 1.23m
-if the target is 550m away then t=0.55sec and y= 1.48m
-if the target is 600m away then t=0.60sec and y= 1.76m

All guns except the support guns have a muzzle velocity of 1000 m/s , and thus have the same bullet drop. From my tests ( http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35977 ) it looks like the bullet drop uses the simple formula s=0.5*G*t^2, as learned in school. Thus you can use BlackDucks table, it should be accurate.
The sole exception are the support guns, the bullets of those take twice the time to reach the same place (velocity 500 m/s , and thus the table looks like this:
-if the target is 50m away then t=0.10sec and y= 0.05m
-if the target is 75m away then t=0.15sec and y= 0.11m
-if the target is 100m away then t=0.20sec and y= 0.20m
-if the target is 125m away then t=0.25sec and y= 0.31m
-if the target is 150m away then t=0.30sec and y= 0.44m
-if the target is 175m away then t=0.35sec and y= 0.60m
-if the target is 200m away then t=0.40sec and y= 0.78m
-if the target is 250m away then t=0.50sec and y= 1.23m
-if the target is 275m away then t=0.55sec and y= 1.48m
-if the target is 300m away then t=0.60sec and y= 1.76m
At least this was the case in 1.12, don´t have opportunity to look wether velocity was changed with 1.2, as I don´t have BF2 on this comp.

And if by effective range you mean the range at which the base of the cone of fire exceeds a certain size then, yes, you could use the chart to get that. By that definition the L96 will have a much LONGER range than the M95. I think your experience with these guns may be a result of the fact that the M95 ignores body armor meaning it takes fewer hits to kill armored soldiers with the M95.

Great work on this chart, but can it be updated with the lastest 1.22 patch?

I second that - Excellent Work on this!

Would be nice to have an updated one for the new 1.22 patch.

Re: Weapons Chart After 1.2 Patch

I just updated the chart to reflect the changes made after 1.22 patch. So far these changes in blue are the only things I found different. I will updated the chart later if I find more changes.

Did the P90 not change at all then ?

Or just untested as of yet?

Good job on the changes, this thread was a sticky at some stage but then got removed for some reason.

I haven't installed the patch yet but you may want to check the Type 95 LMG; someone claimed it was now more accurate than the SAW or any other LMG.
