Re: Frightening pictures of x360 version, think I have to change my opinion, Yikes

Played on my Nephews Xbox this weekend.
And I won't be buying one, FPS without a mouse and keyboard is like trying to play football in bare feet, pretty inafective.

Graphics look good at the moment but they will be outdone by PC's in about 3-6 months (a like the last xbox).

Consoles are great for people that can't be bothered to constantly update PC's and be at the cutting edge of gaming, and just like playing games.
For those of us that don't mind shelling out £300.00 every 6 months and playing in depth, stunning games that are pure eye candy, then the PC is the hobbyists choice.

Consoles are for people that just like playing games, PC's are for the hardcore.

Look, I console game too. I do agree that alot of fps games need to be on a PC. I am a loyal fan of Halo and since they did put a PC version of it, I can't say much except that it worked pretty well with a mouse. Halo 2, however, cannot be put on the PC. In the PC, dual weilding would mean you would have to use both buttons of the mosue with 2 fingers on one hand. This may seem strange but I believe that that would ruin the 'feel'. It would mess up gaming. I felt the controls on the xbox while playing halo 2 and I got used to it easily. I couldn't however feel it being on the PC.
Bf2:MC is one of those games that should be on the PC. Infact, that's where it originated. EA wanted the millions of console gamers to have a taste of BF that we all love and hate. It failed to live up to our game that is on our PC and that we talk all about in these forums, gameplay wise which is the most important.

Not just random people on forums, but high level industry folks who really should arffing know better.

It's a cycle. It's been a cycle since the days of Atari! A consol comes out with specialised hardware and seriously perty graphics. Is simple to use and attracts a big chunk of the knuckledragger market as well as people who just love their perty games.

People start screaming about "The Death of PC Gaming (tm)".

Some time passes and PC technology surpasses the consols. The perty picture crowd migrates back to PCs. The market for consols tapers off 'cause it's saturated and stagnent (there's VERY little originality in consol games).

People start screaming about "The Death of Consol Gaming (tm)".

The market inverts and PCs become the place ta play.

Meanwhile, while this cycle is going on, the high point for consols is countered by more indepenent releases for PCs. While the PC is high, costs for consol development drop and you see more interesting action there.

Wisdom dictates that if you can't objectivly observe this cycle, you are a numbskull.
I have been playing quite actively about 5 years. I have never owned any console (except Atari looong time ago). Many of my friends have Xbox and now one of them bought Xbox 360 (Game graphics is good, you can believe me). So many times I have tried to play with the pad used in those machines and I know, that eventually everyone can handle the pad after long practice. Still somehow I don't like the feeling of that controller. I prefer mouse and keyboard + joystick while flying.

There are certain aspects that makes consoles interesting option. In my mind these are as follows:

        1. All players are in same line with the hardware
        2. No expensive hw-updating every half year or so
        3. Games are optimized to your hw, no need to download patches and other crap to get your system running.
        4. Decent price to put up the whole system starting from the scrathc.

Many of you have claimed that games cost more than PC games and as you said this is true, but at least I play one game at the time. I like to master one game as good as I can. After I get bored with it, I buy some other, but my pace with the new games is like 1-2 / year.

Few things still keeps me with the PC-games at least now. Console games have limited multiplayer ability. I don't play single player games at all and I like 64 multiplayer rounds to get good fights. More is better. Other thing is that controller issue, I will not go to consoles until I can use mouse and keyboard with console.

I would like to see a platform where both PC and console players can share the same game. That would quit the arguing of controller supremacy and give people possibility to test which is better.

          Chickenhawk for the win!

I have both a gaming pc, a family pc and PS2. I've played CoD2 enough times on the xbox360 to form an opinion on it. It's a FPS that doesn't play well with the 360's controller.

What I love about the PS2 is the driving games, NFSMW looks great. Gun, fun GTA style of play. Fighting games....These type of games play very well on a console.

FPS and RTS are great on a PC. You have more control over what you doing and the keyboard and mouse offers almost limitless configurations.

RPG's? I'm not a fan but I hear WoW is pretty good.

I don't follow the 360 to much, so maybe someone else can answer this....

Any good Mods for BF2 coming out for the 360?

          /Halo is over rated.

Totally disagreed. I feel this statement to be somewhat elitist. Believe me, console gamers are just as "hardcore" as PC gamers. By hardcore Im sure you mean "devoted" and not "1337". And eventually, if both systems are for playing games in that statement- then wheres the limit in hardcore and non-hardcore?!

It looks really good to be honest, and most of the shots appear to be in-game. The character shots are probably from 'real-time' cut-scenes though.

IGN has some impressive in-game videos of BF2 in action, and it is very purty. The game itself though is quite removed from the play-mechanics we have though.

2 different games. 2 different control systems. Can't say either competing with each other.
