Like xbox and ps2 did? Right. Death of PC as a gaming machine was predicted ever since PS2 launched but still, I play BF2 on PC.
360 has 3 x 3.2Ghz cores <<<<this right there does it.
That one does what? That has nothing to do with good games.
512mb of ram some for vid card
Super Fast Vid Card
So? That has nothing to do with good games.
12gb hardrive
Sweet JESUS! 12gb! This means that games will be at least 12x better than before!

GFX don't make a better game. Driving games without a wheel and FPS games with joypad, no matter how fancy the gfx are, have still awfull gameplay compared to PC.

...and isn't this second thread (at least) on the same subject already?

Those aren't screen shots

COD2 looks nowhere near as good on the XBOX360 as it does on my pc (I'm running a 6800 GT card

I usually try to stay out of the PC vs. Console debates. But, I just wanted to throw my thoughts in on this one.

The processing power is not my main concern. It is game play. It's all about what is fun and me enjoying myself. It's all about the games for me.

I have a PC, 360, and a PS2. I will play on whatever platform. I love all three.

However, It is starting to get expensive buying games for three systems.

Lol, had the same thought. Guys, just look at it, it's good quality on a console level.

If you want to switch to 360's version, then by all means do so. All that means is more room in servers for people like me that perfer PC games, no matter how fancy they try to make console games.

Throwing facts aside. I only play 3-4 games on PC. Those being
SWAT4- best tactical shooter there is, hands down, playing very frequently.
Battlefield 2- stopped playing long time ago, rarely switch on, but still, one of the funnest games Ive ever played (on PC).
Starcraft Broodwar- still playing occasionally.
Well, yeah, 3 games, here you have it.

I cant even count how many games I switch on and still play on PS2.

Accepted fact is- PC is a meaner gaming machine than PS2. But god damnit why am I only playing 3 games on PC and in the same time theres 10 titles I constantly play on PS2 and I cant even count how many Ive finished (meaning- played for the story) and most of them looked/played/felt better.

This already is a console/PC fanboyism battle so I may just join in to the lameness party. There are areas where PC just are better suited- online MP games mostly, online MP FPS games mostly. But in no way they are the best gaming machines and in no way they are the only acceptable gaming machines.

Up till this date I have yet to find a decent car racing game on PC whereas I have multiple fun and entertaining games that look godly, to choose from my PS2.

I can count games with great stories on PC with the fingers of my one hand (they have been godly though)

I constantly play and play over many, many great stories on my ol´ PS2.

Then theres the memory of miserable failure of attemtping to play Half Life 1 on PS2... god that was painful. Especially when I finished the same game on PC a week before.

This is a subjective perspective about the issue at hand.

The next poster may say that the Gran Turismo 3 sucks ass compared to NFSMW on PC and theres nothing I could do to prove him wrong. Present numbers? Whats the point. There are games on technically inferior platforms that blow the games from superior platforms out of the water and people still talk about one platform "owning" (ROFLMAO) others. The other nutcases even try to apply logic to it and present some specs and compare Ford model T to Ferrari Maranello. Or a plane to a car basing on absurdness. A console is different than a PC and as such should not be compared nearly as much as many do. In the very, very end, its all about the games. I play SWAT4 on PC, and love it, I play Burnout 2 POI on PS2 and love it. Comparing the system they are running on is useless when the games are different but both look godly and are extremely fun to play.

On topic though- you wouldnt believe how many people have a Pentium 2 for net and typing at home and a kick-ass console for gaming. Thats why the BF2: Modern Combat is for- for those people.

hell if you have an hdtv you will get better graphics than on a pc.
Don't make up stuff.

There is not instituation for Multi-Threaded games. Ala. They aren't multi-threaded they are all single threaded. That processor has no bearing on anything. It's basically a 3.2ghz PC processor. That's it.

It's the space-age design of that GPU that gives the 360 its power.
-48 Dynamically Assigned Pipes
-10mb Devoted strictly to mundane task (Z buffer, A.A.)
-512mb of system RAM shared with the CPU
...if anything the shared RAM is slightly suspect. This could end up holding the system back.

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't comment. Otherwise I have to waste time correcting you and directing you to sites such as "anandtech.com" that have a full breakdown of the 360 available for you.

So.. please, quit making stuff up already.

P.S. - ...and yes my PC brethern. The Xbox360 currently has a better GPU than anything available for the PC market. Well, the X1900XT is questionable. I seems to have the same dynamic assingment of pipes. Not sure, but. Other than that. No other GPU on the PC market comes close. Not to say this will last for more than a year, but as it currently stands, the Xbox360 is the king of the GPU domain.

What the means for good games? ...if we are judging by CoD2. Nothing.

Consoles will be technicallybetter than most peoples PCs for a while. Then Most peoples PCs will be technicallybetter than consoles as they begin to show thier age, until a year or two later new consoles are released that are technically better than most peoples PC.

For me it's not the specs of the machines, it's the controllers you must use. Mouse & Keyboard are good for FPS, Controllers are good for racing.

I say just get console AND a PC and enjoy the benifits of both.

That's been what people have been saying all the time, and the specs on a system mean NOTHING. The PSX and PS2, the least-powerful systems of their generations, won in sales by a long shot.

It's all about the games, and PC gaming has been putting itself in a hole by not coming out with anything but stale, unoriginal FPSes with like 2 hours of total play time.

You're kidding right? That's the most ignorant statement I have ever heard. PC's usually rely on the "Infinite" hours alloted to online play. We don't need an "Epic" single player experience because it's almost assumed that everyone has broadband access to the internet. If not? Buy a console and get the same gameplay experience.

Also. Consoles sell well because they are affordable to the common man. A family on welfare can get the money for a PS2 or Xbox360, not a Voodoo PC OMEN. Which is in no way a mark against consoles mind you, it's their niche. Currently though, ATI and Microsoft just pulled on of the greatest technology leaps in history in terms of how graphics are handled. That's all. That's what's holding the Xbox360 afloat.

Frankly. The gameplay is horrible in most of the titles out. The few that shine...

PGR-3, CoD2. I don't personally don't own a Xbox360, but I have access to one. It's not showing me anything great. Oblivion is what's going tip my final opinion. If they cannot do it with that, I'm better of sticking with my Pc.

...finally. First Person Shooters "ARE NOT" the Pc's primary market. Real Time Strategy is it's niche'. The FPS market is shared with the consoles. Naturally though, when everyone can afford to buy a console, everyone can find a reason to buy console games. It's only common sense, it has nothing to do with a "Hole" PC Gaming is digging its self into. If anything, the only thing hurting the industry is giving us dumbed-down consolitis games:

1. RainbowSix Lockdown
2. Brother in Arms :EIB (Although still a great game).
3. Full Spectrum Warrior.
etc. etc.

I don't want to play an Xbox360 limited version of CoD2 (8 player online? Sheesh.. give me a break). Nor' do I want to play a worn down version of a strategy game; or as the industry likes to call it, "Streamlined".

I constantly amazes me how stupid people can be about the Consol vs PC issue.

Not just random people on forums, but high level industry folks who really should arffing know better.

It's a cycle. It's been a cycle since the days of Atari! A consol comes out with specialised hardware and seriously perty graphics. Is simple to use and attracts a big chunk of the knuckledragger market as well as people who just love their perty games.

People start screaming about "The Death of PC Gaming (tm)".

Some time passes and PC technology surpasses the consols. The perty picture crowd migrates back to PCs. The market for consols tapers off 'cause it's saturated and stagnent (there's VERY little originality in consol games).

People start screaming about "The Death of Consol Gaming (tm)".

The market inverts and PCs become the place ta play.

Meanwhile, while this cycle is going on, the high point for consols is countered by more indepenent releases for PCs. While the PC is high, costs for consol development drop and you see more interesting action there.

Wisdom dictates that if you can't objectivly observe this cycle, you are a numbskull.

Yet in order for any online game to get any good, it needs to be a hit in the first place. That's the problem, they DEPEND on popularity, the popularity of a single-player game does not affect the quality.

Consider the ever-increasing popularity of RPGs, it's quite obvious people DO want a single-player experience, especially when consoles with gimped multiplayer continue to edge out more and more market share.

A family on welfare can get the money for a PS2 or Xbox360, not a Voodoo PC OMEN. Which is in no way a mark against consoles mind you, it's their niche.
The problem with that is the thought process of PC game developers who continue to push the envelope and refuse to make games scale well. It's amazing what console developers can squeeze out of the mediocre resources they have to work with, but I'd actually say it lets them make BETTER games because they're less busy chasing the latest fad feature and more busy focusing on core gameplay.

I work at CompUSA, and the vast majority of people I see are grabbing those $700-or-less systems with the crappy Intel or S3 integrated video, and then I go read game dev news and everyone's tapping their fingers wondering when they can finally expect everyone to have DX9 cards. Most of the action games on the shelf are FPSes (primarily modern desert warfare or WWII), most of the ones that aren't are Splinter Cell titles. Then I go read reviews and practically every one of them ends in "too short." I see what the problem is every day: The PC game industry is bankrupt on ideas.
