Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

You haven't read this have you->

And i am asking everyone gently, when you reply to someone's post (including me) don't just read 2 sentences and make assumptions and write illogical stuff, read the entire post, understand it, comprehend it, then if you have more to add, or if you have something constructive to say to challange him, then post.
I said what i will say now over and over and over and over again in all of my posts under this topic

      I am saying it again:

I have NO PROBLEM with people not beingallowed to attack uncapturable bases, i have NO PROBLEM with people not being allowed to artillery uncapturable bases, i have NO PROBLEM with people not being allowed to bunnyhop, dolphin dive or use noobtube

There is a very little but important detail you missed in your entire post. When there are no flags left for USMC team, when USMC team has no person trying to capture 1 single flag, when USMC team doing nothing, but waiting on the carrier for planes to spawn, TKing each other to get in the attack-heli, MEC team has EVERY right to attack that uncapturable base since USMC team does not have any other base to left. Now tell me is this so hard to comprehend?

Your entire post is useless because from the get go, i already said i agree with what you are saying.

And this server isn't some 16 player server with 8 people in it. This server is a 64 player server, and when i was playing, there were around 30 people in the each team. So tell me, is it logical to force 30 people in the MEC team to wait on the beach, with their APCs, tanks, choppers, attack choppers, and tell Mig pilots to sit in their jets in the runway so that US team can pwn them? Are you kidding me?

Now that what they are doing my friend is whining. I am against vehicle whoring, and noobtubing, and dolphin diving and many other things, but this is something completely different.

And i am not some BF2 noob, i have been playing this game for almost 7 months, i have over 230 hours of play, and i have never ever came here complaining about anything like this before, ever. Don't make judgements about people before knowing them, treat them the way they treat you. As i never made judgements about other people, never told them where to play, and what to do in any of my posts, i expect you to do the same.

I understand how those guys feel. They either work or go to school and can't play BF2 more than an hour every day or maybe 2-3 hours every week. And when they play, they don't want some BF2 geek to come own them, can't let them even get in a vehicle and move 10 feet. Well if that's the case, maybe they should own an unranked server instead of ranked server, make the server password protected and play with their friends only. Because from what i see, they can't take the game the way it is meant to be played, and that's their problem. As long as it's a ranked server, it WILL atract attention, there will be people coming to that server. And also there is a reason why you can not put a password to a ranked server, it's the same reason that gives every player to attack that USMC base when there is no flags left. Even though they own the server, they can not rule the server the way they want. Or if they do so, and if the ranks are so unimportant to them, and if all they want is to have fun with their co-workers, why not just have an unranked server, lock it, and play with friends?

And i am saying this for the last time, read before replying, don't just read a few sentences and come to a conclusion and write your reply. You are doing nothing but stirring up a flame war, increasing the tension, and if i see one more post misrepresenting the facts, i will delete it, so don't tell me i didn't warn.

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

Very well said Noobie, for being your third language and all. Bottom line is this, we run the server the way WE feel provides the best game play. If we receive notification from a verifyable EA ADMIN that we are in violation of any of their global rules, we will modify ours accordingly. We are not here to thumb our collective noses at the establishment, and run the server, EA be damned.

We wish to find a nice medium for most players to come and have a good time. You bring up "War" like this is a real life situation. In "war" anything is fair to win and bring your guys home and not theirs. This, on the other hand, is a game, and should be fun to most of the players on the server at any given time. You also bring up some good points, some of which we simply disagree with. I have no quarrel with that. You run your show your way, and we will continue until told otherwise to run it ours.

Too good for Moongamers..well, let me tell you all something..we, like any other server out there, have exceptionally skilled players and some that are just trying the online gaming world. We don't and have never kicked for "being too good". Most often, it is due to another violation, which the players then attributes to "being too good" because, golly, he wouldn't break any of the servers rules, would he? Please.

And you, by your own defination, are taking MY fun away by camping us on the USMC carrier, for example, or the radio station, when as soon as I spawn I get killed by an air asset or ground asset. So, what does that mean, take your server down, because my fun is being interfered with?

Maranello, you simply have a hardcore gaming attitude. Cool, I can live with that. You need to find a hardcore gaming server to exhibit your skills on. It is clear that MG is just not that server, as it isn't for many. BUT, I would wager that many more like it because it is NOT a hardcore server and we do try to give EVERYBODY a fair shot at all all aspects of the game, not just ground pounding, because Calo, or any other pilot is just that good, and therefore is in a plane the entire round, round after round after round. It is just in the philosophy that we differ.

And yes, I would prefer as a USMC when MEC has all Oman bases, to at least let me leave the carrier and try to get the game back on, vs. not. And as MEC, I would rather do that, than just sit there in an LAV, and blast anyone that dared enter the Zodiac bay area. Great fun for the LAV driver. Sucks for the USMC. And while I agree that if they lost all the flags, they SHOULD get pummeled into submission, it just doesn't make for a fun game, and there is that word again.

I hope this is not taken in anyway to flame anyone. Just trying to seek clarification on what we do vs. any other server out there. If we are wrong, as I mentioned, we will change our standards immediately.

However, that is not the type of mistake I have ever witnessed and will be promptly corrected if you are, indeed, correct. There have never been and never will be any restrictions on artillery use.

Moongamers rules are as follows: no attacking the uncapables with equipment (buggies, helos, jets, tanks, APCs). You are allowed to Arty freely and use infantry to attack/camp the uncapables. You can ever get into a buggy or other vehicles and use it to get into the uncapable or run people over in the uncappables.

These rules are there to balance the playing field somewhat, but they work both ways, for MEC and USMC, therefore every player has the same chances at points and a fun game. Every player bought the game and every player deserves a rewarding experience, not just the most skilled. If we penalized good players the #1 player wouldn't be one of our players and an admin, would he?

Most players cannot put that kind of time into the game, however, to develop their score and skills...but they still paid for the game and also deserve to get full enjoyment from it. That is why we try to level, somewhat, the playing field and allow every player, regardless of skill to get enjoyment from the game.

Un/Skilled players who like to fly will still be able to dogfight to their heart's content if all flags are taken. Un/Skilled players will still be able to camp outside the uncapables and shoot people/vehicles as they try to make a run for it. They just can't shoot at or into the uncapables, but that does not mean that their hands are tied, they just have to adapt their playing style to a new set of circumstances. If they are so skilled, I'm sure they can manage that.

I saw this with my own eyes

"YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO ARTILLARY UNCAP BASES"

          period.

I am not lying and i saw it.

If you don't believe me, check the server logs, all you have to do is to open the log in a file editor press CTRL+F and type "meant to artillary" and i guarantee you, you will see that text.

          Second thing i saw

"Don't blow the UAV or i'll kick you" (can't remember the exact wording)

and as soon as our commander said "go ahead", he was kicked.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------

You sound all nice and logical "now" but what i saw in that server is definetly not what you are saying here. One guy in my squad was kicked for being in the APC in the water and shooting down the choppers as they take of which contracts what you say:

Un/Skilled players will still be able to camp outside the uncapables and shoot people/vehicles as they try to make a run for it.
Fact: I suck with sniper rifle, i do, i mean i never got good at it, i am decent yeah maybe, but i am definetly not as good as i am with a chopper or a spec Ops or a support gun. Now, do i make a rule like "You can't kill people with headshots with M95 so unskilled players can still have fun" in my server? No. Of course not.

Fact: There will be skilled players, there will be players who spent thousands of hours of gameplay and they will be better than unskilled players. What's so wrong about that?

Fact: Based on your reasoning and logic, you say "since there are people who paid for the game but couldn't spend as many hours as others, they still deserve to have fun" right? Well based on the same reasoning and logic, how about those who spent time+money for the game, who got good at it, who learned teamwork, aiming, controlling their reflexes? Don't they deserve to get what they spent their time for? By not letting them the way they can play you are doing nothing, but create a "double standard". You are forcing skilled players to "go easy" on unskilled players. Now if this was the case, why would all those hundreds of thousands of people would spend so much time for this game to get good at it? What's the point of playing the game, mastering it if you are not going to benefit from your skills? That is so unfair and so illogical.

Maybe those guys should play a single player game, or a game that requires less skill, like Quake 4, or UT 2004, because BF2 is definetly not a game where you can ignore the skill factor and try to have fun. If you do, you will have these problems.

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

We have waited over 5 minutes. I know that for a fact, because i played for about a minute and a half, then my microwave food was ready and i ate that as i sat in the jet in the runway for about 3-4 minutes. I didn't make a single move, i just sat there. And i swear not a single F-35B passed by, i didn't even hear a chopper or a plane passing close by.

5 minutes is very short in real life in battle but it is way too long for BF2. If in 5 minutes, your team can not get out of the carrier, then there is something seriously wrong and that has nothing to do with the skill, or vehicle whoring.

I actually usually play on USMC side and this happens quite a lot and every time it happens, i have one but very simple strategy. And it worked 95% of the time. I jump to the water, and i swim, its a long way, takes like 1-2 minutes tops, i go to one of the beach bases, and since all MEC players are busy in the water or in the air, there is usually noone.

I don't capture one of the beach bases, i get in a vehicle, go to the hotel or the construction site base since they are far away and hard to bomb for MEC players compared to beach bases, i capture it ( i usually have 2-3 squad members spawning on me by the time ) and that changes the course of the battle and we won so many times just by what i did.

see? this is so hard to do? You have to get in a chopper or a plane and TK each other? I don't think so. USMC had their chances for 5 minutes, and as i said, they did nothing, but ran around like bunch of kitties there. Not one single member of the 30 player team used his brain to do this single thing, and I am the bad guy because after 5 minutes, i got bored sitting in the jet in the runway and bombed their carrier?

I m not a hardcore gamer, in fact if you read most of my posts, you can clearly see that i am against hardcore gamers who have no life but BF2, but my friend, the kind of people i saw in that server, shouldn't be playing BF2. I know its not as real as real war, and i know its an arcade game, but its not like counter strike. You need to use more than the mouse and the keyboard, and that comes with not by experience, but being logical and using your intelligence, nothing so special.

I was in the same squad as him. He was on the radio talkng smack saying things like "I OWN!!!!!" I called him an idiot because he sounded like someone with too much hubris. He is good, I give him that. It does take a lot of skill to fly nonstop and not getting killed, but his attitude was horrible.

I asked him to get out of the jet and fight on the ground to see how he would do. He wouldn't. When you have a 20:1 k/d ratio in planes I guess you can't blame him. I just wanted to see how he did on the ground.

I would also like to fly with him in the Su34 to see how he does it. I DO appreciate good pilots, and he is one, he's just an annoying one. He talks smack and pats himself on the back too much.

Moongamers specifically says you can't hog equipment. It's rather simple, if you hog a jet round after round then you are violating their rules. I think it's only fair to share. I rarely fly because too many idiots hog the jets/choppers, teamkill for the jets and choppers.

BTW, here's colony's stats. Of the 580 hours played he's got over 300 hours in jets and 80 hours in choppers. It's safe to say he's an airpower whore.

                http://www.paradroid.net/bf2stats/bf...y&pid=&lang=en

Couple things here. First, I dont cheat. Secondly, I have a fast computer, but I dont have 2 gigs of RAM, so I'm never always the first to join the game and "hog" the jets. If someone takes the jet before I do and If I feel like flying that round, I will usually just wait until they crash/die (most of them suck) and not tk that person so I can get the jet.

Next, I do like to sometimes fight on the ground and in choppers and in tanks. Just take a look at my stats, lately yes I have been playing alot more in jets than in anything else, but look at my stats for armor or for helos. Its not like I dont do other things. And just because you tell me "hey colony, you are killing me too much, would you mind parachuting out of your jet and fight on the ground cuz I cant do anything about you when you are in the air" isnt gonna make me hop out my jet to fight on the ground. I find this game much more appealing when I'm in a vehicle, not as infantry. I also dont remember you as you are probably no one important, but yea, sometimes I do say stuff over comms, but mostly when my team is not getting any flags so I can perk them up some hopefully.

Anyone who has been in moongamers when I'm flying knows that I try my best to keep jets, helos and tanks off my team's back so we can get some flags and win the game. I always ask them to call out stuff when they see them so I can help. I dont go for points, I dont always get 100 points a round or 75 kills a round, sometimes I only get 20 kills cuz i've been dogfighting and shooting down the other team's jets the whole round. Anyway, you can say whore all you want, but jets and helos are the best weapons in the game, its only natural for someone to want to play in them most of the time. Its like going into war and saying "you know what, I always take my M16 with me, but today im just gonna take my pistol instead".....it just is not logical.

I appreciate that you want to fly with me. Sometimes I get in bombers, and anyone who has flown knows I like to line em up and get them good shots, 32 man operation is great for this. I also like the fact you put my stats up so everyone can see and I thank you for that as I'm very proud of them :)

I take it you are an admin at moongamers mostly oman server. I have no problems with any of your rules except the one where no "plane whoring/vehicle whoring"

As stated in the BF2 ranked rules:
Server admins may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on vehicles or weapons that players can use while on your server (e.g. knives only, aircraft prohibited except for clan members, etc.)

This to me means ANYone can use ANY vehicle at ANY time, correct me if i'm wrong someone. As long as I dont tk for the vehicle, then I should get that vehicle and be able to play in that vehicle for however long I want and however many rounds I want.

Personally I believe if I was just some lame no good pilot who kept taking the plane round after round, I would have NOT been kicked from the server. But since I was a dominating and most likely the difference between which team would win, they took notice and decided to boot me.

On the odd chance that you are right (I don't have the level of access where I can check logs) I alerted everyone on the admin team through our forums that if anyone had made that call they were wrong and were not to do it again. Quite a few are new at this and it's a work in progress right now. I'm sure you started the same way until you found your stride. We all do.

As for sounding "all nice and logical now", so do you. Didn't you threaten to go complain to EA about being booted for bombing the carrier, against server rules? I believe I refuted your argument that that went against the EA established rules for ranked servers. I don't see a retraction or apology on your part.

Bad example. As I and others have explained before, we are not coming up with the rules out of the blue or for our own sake. So, the argument that the rules were put in place to give any one set of players an advantage doesn't wash at all. Everybody is on the same footing and other flags are still campable.

Nothing whatsoever. You seem to wish to continue with the argument that skilled players are somehow hindered. Skilled players cannot be hindered by server rules. That is the difference between a skilled player and a one trick pony/stats whore who goes for the cheap points.

They can go to any number of other ranked servers where they can flex their muscle with someone of their level just like they can come to ours. If they come to ours they abide by the rules we set out for everyone. If the only skill you have is licking your drool as you think to yourself fresh meat you have to be pretty lame. When you look for someone of your level to contend with you have my respect. By your reasoning martial arts or boxing don't need different colored belts or weight categories...just some big guy who can demonstrate his skill by pounding lightweights into a pulp. That's the sign of a coward where I come from. Especially when he then crows "I am the best" and is really convinced of it! :)

If you like no holds barred check out our Karkand server. It is closer to that and you can go face to face with the #1 player. Good luck. Our Mostly Oman server has a different set of rules. You know what? If I don't like a certain type of food I just don't go to that restaurant or pick a different dish. Noone is forced to play our server. people who don't like the server or the rules are free to choose from hundreds of others.

Maybe EA should create a different category of server more to your liking. Something like "Tournament Class Servers". Yeah. I like the ring of that. I'd like to see how many of these so-called or self-entitled "great players" would seek those servers for a no holds barred contest with like-minded and skilled players. I bet most would still like to come into our server because they are cowards who prefer easy pickings.

I am not saying that our server is fool of noobs. We attract all levels of skill and we like it that way. But, since this was the demo map, we do get more than our fair share of new players and they all deserve a chance to learn the ropes in a friendly environment where they can continue playing as their skill increases.

BTW. Just a quick explanation of our ban policy. This server was in chaos until not too long ago because of lack of admins (hence the new admins I mentioned who just came on board). We had to establish order extremely quickly and found that most players ignored warnings in the admin text as well as regular text. When we kicked people would take it lightly, like it was just a hiccup on their connectivity or something. So, we had to move to a minimum 10 minute ban. That gets people's attention and quickly they started becoming more respectful of rules and each other. That's all we are looking for. We are not a clan. We are a community, therefore not everyone will have the character or temperament that we are looking for. That is understandable and expected. Just don't expect our servers to adopt the rule of the jungle because we are looking for civilized, mature players with a good sense of fair play.

If that is not you. Please do not apply. Do not come and visit. Don't write. Don't call. Go your own way and leave us alone.

Much appreciated...and thanks for allowing us to respond. I'm sure we will continue to get players that understand and like what we are about.

The settings that are required have been hardcoded for months and cannot be changed. Autobalance is not a EULA requirement.

Colony I have to start by saying that I recognize your skill but I don't respect you because of your attitude. Your attitude really stinks.

Dude, how hard is it to let people crash and burn for a couple of rounds while you perfect a different skill or go take a crap or read a newspaper? So, there are noobs out there...that's not news. But I am sure you practiced quite a bit to get that good. They deserve the same. Give them a chance. The rule basically is there to prevent any one player from MONOPOLIZING any one piece of equipment.

So you have a weaker or innefective pilot for a couple of rounds. This is about team work. Switch tactics. Go for more of a ground pounding strategy. I get bored if the other team is too easy.

As for your you getting booted because of your skill...that is an emphatic NO!

Your skill did get you noticed by a lot of people, including admins who, of course, started observing more carefully. It's our job. If an average Joe or anyone else whores the planes and someone complains or notices they will get the boot too. So, in a very indirect way your skill was a factor, yes, for getting you noticed. But not the reason for you being booted.

Now get over yourself and take a break every once in a while. If a round is over, and you've been in the plane for the last 2 or 3 rounds straight, I'd say you should take a break from flying for 2 or 3 rounds. Fly one and go commander the next, or establish a squad and organize some spec ops visits to their main. I love chocolate too but I can only eat so much. Just be reasonable. Mix it up a bit. Variety is the spice of life. We don't mind having you on the server. In fact the other day I even tried to go after you...I just couldn't get into the friggin jet!

First, I have to start by showing this:

As stated in the BF2 ranked server rules:
Server admins may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on vehicles or weapons that players can use while on your server (e.g. knives only, aircraft prohibited except for clan members, etc.)

My attitude really stinks? what have I done. You dont even know me. All I have done is complain about the rule.

So you have a weaker or innefective pilot for a couple of rounds. This is about team work. Switch tactics. Go for more of a ground pounding strategy. I get bored if the other team is too easy.

Doesnt matter if you get bored or not, Ranked server rules do not allow restrictions on who can or cannot use any certain vehicle. Your rule is against the BF2 Ranked server agreement as stated in article 1, rule e., and I think you should look into it before I do because I like to play on your server which is why I play there. But if this stupid rule continues to be penalized for on your server I will have to file a complaint.

                              And the plot thickens...

Wow. This got really interesting. I'm about to do the impossible and illogical: I agree with both maranello and the MG admins.

I dont know how that's possible, but after reading each side, they both (all?) made a good case. I give maranello a slight nod on the "hit the uncappable after (and only after) all the other flags are captured and after (and only after?) the other guys sit on their ass waiting for the jet/helo". I find it difficult to imagine that all the flags of the enemy will be captured in 1-2 minutes and that the rest of the game will consist of dealing with maranello's scenario . It's more likely that this scenario will come about in the "end game" and nothing will change the outcome. The enemy will still lose. Maranello's scenario simply calls for ending the game quicker (ie. "let's end this thing now, you guys messed up...let's move onto the next game...hopefully, you've learned what not to do.") The spirit of the game that the MG Admins are trying to project is admirable. I like it. But it won't change the outcome of that specific round. So we can witness a long, slow, boring defeat. Or we can put an end to that poorly planned campaign and start anew.

Meanwhile, colony is sill clueless at what the MG Admins are trying to do. Whether or not MG is violating EA's rules, I dont know. It seems like MG Admins are thinking about a lot of people, and colony is thinking of himself.

                              Good stuff...

Im not just thinking of myself. I dont really care if I play 5 rounds in a row or just 2, but I do it for everyone else as well who is told "you are banned from using that machinery for a couple rounds because" in a public RANKED bf2 server. To me that is just idiotic and not right.
