Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

I don't really understand, was i supposed to sit on the beach, turn on my radio, read my newspaper, eat my chips and wait for US Marines to come kick my a$$? Jesus christ, what is MEC team supposed to do? What kind of undermining, childish, stupid logic is this?
Nope, the logic is simple. Give USMC a chance to win the game even if they have lost all the ground flags. Usually when MEC has a good commander, as soon as they drive USMC off the beaches the game is over. The carrier is being bombarded until the USMC tickets have reached zero.

Just to comment, whining is awesome, isnt it? N00b.

LOLOL, I always love it when people say they are so good it ****es people off. What I would REALLY like is to be able to peer deep into their game files and see how many of those "great" players have altered something.

I betcha about 50% are cheating. Only among the "greats". The average player like me, who just plays for fun, could care less about being number one on the scoring list and all that other stupid crap. But I'm telling ya, once someone gets caught up in a points race, then the urge to cheat is often too much to resist.

Oh, you think I'm just whining? LOLOL I speak from direct experience. Years ago, I used to be a hex-editing cheater in other games, so I know how it works. Of course, the trick is to alter the game file just a little, never make the cheat too obvious.

You wanna lead the pack, you usually gotta do a little hex editing on the game file, just to keep up with all the other "great" players, ROFL.........

        Kattspya,

Considering we both agree that this rule is perfectly okay. . .and I think you have the right to whine about it if you want we really have debate.

However, people keep citing EULA and how rules like this are a violation of EULA. Anyone who takes that position, can you point out to me where in the rules this is a violation?

Considering a number of servers have rules like this, I have a hard time believing that they are against the rules because I am sure it is not difficult for EA to just go through and see these rules written write up front for the servers.

Um...NO. If you lose all you flags except your uncappable you deserve to be beaten into submission. Same thing has happened to me before countless times, and on the flip, our team has dealt it out in spades, it's the game, and a WAR game at that.

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

I've seen this colostomy bag named colony on moongamers. I even wrote a message about it. He's always the first to get a jet at the start of each round. I was told it was because he must have 1) a fast computer, 2) at least 2 gigs of ram. Maybe. Maybe he's cheating, I don't know.

I was in the same squad as him. He was on the radio talkng smack saying things like "I OWN!!!!!" I called him an idiot because he sounded like someone with too much hubris. He is good, I give him that. It does take a lot of skill to fly nonstop and not getting killed, but his attitude was horrible.

I asked him to get out of the jet and fight on the ground to see how he would do. He wouldn't. When you have a 20:1 k/d ratio in planes I guess you can't blame him. I just wanted to see how he did on the ground.

I would also like to fly with him in the Su34 to see how he does it. I DO appreciate good pilots, and he is one, he's just an annoying one. He talks smack and pats himself on the back too much.

Moongamers specifically says you can't hog equipment. It's rather simple, if you hog a jet round after round then you are violating their rules. I think it's only fair to share. I rarely fly because too many idiots hog the jets/choppers, teamkill for the jets and choppers.

BTW, here's colony's stats. Of the 580 hours played he's got over 300 hours in jets and 80 hours in choppers. It's safe to say he's an airpower whore.

Out of all the baserapists Ive seen, I have never seen a bragging one. Bragging pilots come from the dogfighters breed. Dogfighting is something totally different than ground based fight. A kill on ground is another point, a kill in the air is something more. It has mostly to do with the fact that its only 2-3 fighters airbourne at all times, and pilots often recognize each other, even if they dont tell. War above is something totally different (and absolutely more exciting) than war on the ground. So dont generalize, most of the pilots are great people. The bragging kids are put into their place rather quickly.

Um...NO. If you lose all you flags except your uncappable you deserve to be beaten into submission. Same thing has happened to me before countless times, and on the flip, our team has dealt it out in spades, it's the game, and a WAR game at that.
My personaly principal of bombing is - "Uncappable is the cherry on a cake", meant to take as a prize after work for your team. And I do believe in attacking uncappables when other flags are gone BUT, I see the point of the rule aswell.

Our clan has four ranked servers of the sponsored rank type. I.e our servers are ranked for "free" because they are vouched for by a company.

We have a no baserape rule and according to those that have read the EULA it's not against it. It is "illegal" according to them to regulate vehicles and such. I'm not sure of the exact wording but this is only hearsay.

I'm not sure if their rule is against the EULA but I think it's borderline. I have tried and failed to get the EULA to read it for myself. If someone has it I would appreciate a copy.

I haven't argued that the rule is against the EULA but others have. I'm not sure whether it is but I think it's irrelevant.

Sorry but youre being a bit slow here. There isnt a pilot who wont bomb. The dogfighters breed is the kind that always engage a jet first. Hell, I dont even have to explain anything, this should be common sense, not a kindergarden lesson.

hex editing? this isn't RPG. damage calculation are done on server side.

try to assure yourself when the pros kill you, and go back to CS where you can assume every good player to be a cheater.

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

Did you ever read my message? Give them a chance? This is a WAR game, not some 3D platform game. We beat them to death, they lost, that's it. There is nothing to hide, they whored the jets themselves (and choppers), didn't get on the ground, they lost the flags, they lost the teamwork and they deserved it.

Give them a chance? Hmm... Is there a specific rule that the winning team should give a chance to the losing team? Oh i remember this, when i was playing chess with my dad, and i would usually lose, my mom would always whisper to my dad "give him a chance to win" but that was when i was 7 years old!!!! What kind of reasoning is this?

So by your same logic, in strike at karkand, where there is no uncap base, if USMC team has all the flags and there are 3 guys alive in the map, we should let them take the flag to "give them a chance to win?".

For your information, here is what ROE (Rules of Engagement) states which was defined officially by Battlefield 2 Ranked Server Master Admins:

                          - No artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases.
                          - No prolongued or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
                          - No using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
                          - No impersonating clan members.
                          - No using C4 on jeeps or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.
                          It also says:

                          3. LOCAL (PRIVATELY RENTED) SERVER RULES
These are rules that are not enforced upon EA's public servers but may be in use upon privately rented servers. These rules are decided by the administrators for those servers and as long as they do not contradict any global rules enforced by EA are considered valid for those servers.
Examples of valid local rules *could* include:
You want proof from EULA there you go

You will not do anything that interferes with the ability of other Service users to enjoy playing an EA game and using the Service, in accordance with its rules, or that materially increases the expense or difficulty of Electronic Arts in maintaining the Service for the enjoyment of all its users.
                          http://www.ea.com/global/legal/tos.jsp

There is your proof. Look at the ROE by BF2ranked servers, do you see anywhere that says "must give them a chance to win?" ins't not letting commander to use artillery on the carrier when there were no flags left (for at least 5 minutes) against the rule that says:

                          f. Server admins may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on roles or kits that players can use while on your server e.g. Commander, Squad Leader, Spec Ops, etc.)
They are restricting you from using your commander functions and they are doing this when there were no flags left. How is the other team supposed to win the game if you don't let them attack you, let their commander and team do their job. They are basically saying You can not win, I want to win, and if your team tries to win the battle, we will do anything necessary to slow this process.

This is also clearly against EA's terms and conditions. They are doing a lot of things to interefere players' ability to enjoy the game (which is a rule by EULA). They are taking away my joy of playing the game, they are destroying the fun part of an online multiplayer game, and this is still not against the rules?

                          That's not enough for you?

I understand (as i said before) admins not allowing people to spawncamp when there are other flags available, because that is basically point farming, that is not teamwork, and so on. In that case, i truly understand why planes and choppers should concentrate on where the real battle is (for the sake of teamwork) and that they shouldn't try to gain advantage over other players by gaining easy points.

But for christ's sake, when there are no flags, and my team has the control, how are we suppposed to win the game if they don't let us attack? Aren't games like these are played for one purpose which is to help your team to win?

And i am asking everyone gently, when you reply to someone's post (including me) don't just read 2 sentences and make assumptions and write illogical stuff, read the entire post, understand it, comprehend it, then if you have more to add, or if you have something constructive to say to challange him, then post.

                          Regards,

                          Maranello

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

I could provide you with the rationale behind the Moongamers rules, but I will just refute the accusations made by some people that should know better than to accuse Moongamers without any grounding on the rules.

I will quote the full rules at the end, but for now I will just quote the relevant sections to refute the accusations:

                              e. Server admins may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on vehicles or weapons that players can use while on your server (e.g. knives only, aircraft prohibited except for clan members, etc.)
                              f. Server admins may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on roles or kits that players can use while on your server e.g. Commander, Squad Leader, Spec Ops, etc.)

As far as e.: every player can use every vehicle and weapon on Moongamers...no restrictions

...as for f. every player can use every role and kit on Moongamers.

That is under global rules for all ranked servers, then we have the following:

                              - No artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases.
                              - No prolongued or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
                              - No using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
                              - No impersonating clan members.
                              - No using C4 on jeeps or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.

I take this to mean "ranked, non-EA servers" and will stand corrected if I misinterpreted. After all English is my third language and I probably am an old fart to most you you. Maranello is complaining because, according to him, ranked servers cannot prevent him from a bomb run on an uncapturable base, which the first example specifically states is allowed.

So, I suggest that, even though you may not agree with the set of rules, you should respect Moongamers' right to admin its own servers as it sees fit for the good of the greater player community and not bring about frivolous and mean spirited complaints. Moongamers does not cater to divas or prima donnas, every player, regardless of skill (sorry Colony :) ) must abide by rules in place to provide a more balanced gameplay that most players find more agreeable with their style.

Colony was not dealt with because of his skill or score - nobody is at MGs (except TKers with quickly dropping negative scores). I see that some people may have a problem with being equal or on a more level playing field with others, but that is their own issue, it has nothing to do with MGs.

Not everyone is about ranking and the intrincacies of the game. Some of us like to get home after a long day at work and just frag and be fragged in a place where every skill level can feel comfortable that they'll have a fair chance to have some fun - as long as they follow the server rules. You knowingly broke the server's rule and you expect special treatment? Go elsewhere.

I take a very dim view of people who feel justified in acting like smacktards on someone else's turf. If a guest in your home decides to jump on your white furniture with shoes on you'll show them the door. If someone takes a dump on your dining table they will be promptly ejected. It doesn't matter that they are your best friend, your mom or the friggin pope. It's common sense. Now stop whining about it and, please, find another server that is more to your liking and will tolerate your abuse of their rules.

Here are the full rules that I found (here: http://www.bf2rankedservers.com/foru...read.php?t=251):

                              1. GLOBALLY ENFORCED RANKED SERVER RULES
These are rules that all admins/players using ranked servers are expected to observe and are set by EA under the EULA.
                              a. You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any pirated software or other contraband while you are on our servers or these Services, this will lead to immediate ban.
                              b. You may not market, promote or advertise anything, or make any other form of solicitation (including pyramid schemes and chain letters) on any of our services. Clan recruiting is not prohibited.
                              c. You may not change (hack) any core game files or employ external programs or cheats for the purposes of giving yourself an unfair advantage over other players.
                              d. Server admins may not change any game settings defined as standard for ranked servers (ticket ratios, server password, round time, etc.)
Commander, Squad Leader, Spec Ops, etc.)
                              g. Server admins may not use non-standard maps or modified versions of standard maps.
                              h. Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their scores ("stats padding") and Server admins may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.
                              i. Players may not Impersonate EA ADMINS.

                              2. EA OFFICIAL PUBLIC SERVER RULES
These are rules that EA official server admins enforce to maintain friendly, disciplined servers and are in addition to the global rules defined above.
                              a. You may not use any offensive or sexually explicit language in chat or voice mode. Not adhering to this rule will result in a warning followed by a kick or ban.
                              b. You may not use foul or slanderous language involving race, gender, sexual preference, religion or creed. Not adhering to this rule will result in a warning followed by a kick or ban.
                              c. You may not deliberately hinder your own team by Team-killing, destroying friendly vehicles or assets, or acting in such as way as to cause team mates unavoidable deaths or team-kills.
Not adhering to this rule will result in a warning then kick (for wounding or damaging) or an immediate kick or temporary ban for deliberate kills.
                              d. You may not display abusive behavior towards administrators. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly, you may lodge an appeal on the official forums /ticket system (www.bf2rankedservers.com).
Not adhering to this rule will result in a warning followed by a kick or ban.

                              - No artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases.
                              - No prolongued or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
                              - No using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
                              - No impersonating clan members.
                              - No using C4 on jeeps or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.

                              ----------------------------------------------------------------

They are restricting you from using your commander functions and they are doing this when there were no flags left.
At no time is artillery restricted. I don't want to call you a liar, so I'll just say that you may be misinterpreting something that was said. I will further allow, since I was not there and have observed other mistakes recently (since we are trying to put more staff on that server) that it is possible that one of the new admins-in-training misquoted the rules. However, that is not the type of mistake I have ever witnessed and will be promptly corrected if you are, indeed, correct. There have never been and never will be any restrictions on artillery use.

Moongamers rules are as follows: no attacking the uncapables with equipment (buggies, helos, jets, tanks, APCs). You are allowed to Arty freely and use infantry to attack/camp the uncapables. You can ever get into a buggy or other vehicles and use it to get into the uncapable or run people over in the uncappables.

These rules are there to balance the playing field somewhat, but they work both ways, for MEC and USMC, therefore every player has the same chances at points and a fun game. Every player bought the game and every player deserves a rewarding experience, not just the most skilled. If we penalized good players the #1 player wouldn't be one of our players and an admin, would he?

Most players cannot put that kind of time into the game, however, to develop their score and skills...but they still paid for the game and also deserve to get full enjoyment from it. That is why we try to level, somewhat, the playing field and allow every player, regardless of skill to get enjoyment from the game.

Un/Skilled players who like to fly will still be able to dogfight to their heart's content if all flags are taken. Un/Skilled players will still be able to camp outside the uncapables and shoot people/vehicles as they try to make a run for it. They just can't shoot at or into the uncapables, but that does not mean that their hands are tied, they just have to adapt their playing style to a new set of circumstances. If they are so skilled, I'm sure they can manage that.
