Your experience on the MG server was probably due to bad timing. I've had the same problem as yours where the opposite team are clearly breaking the rules but nothing is done with it. The whole problem clears up once someone gets into contact with the veteran admins on TS or when a admin observes the game from outside.

And yes, admins will not instant ban on request or complaint. They'll actually have to confirm the complaint before administrating a kick or ban.

Besides the rules of the server, anything goes on the battlefield.

So far, I've had nothing but fun on this server.

Do you mean from this thread or is it, which I hope its for about ranked server rules, what can and can't be done, what private server rules are acceptable so for once and for all the myth about ranked servers and the rules they need to abide by can be clarified so finally the urban myth becomes fact instead of fiction. If that's the case, then that's a great idea in that so many people say "Isn't that against the EULA, you can't do that on ranked servers etc etc etc."

The temptation is excrutiating. I gotta head over there and check it out. It seems like it might be a great place. I dont care if we win, lose, etc. I'm just looking for a good round. Some decent gameplay. Some memorable campaigns. I had some great fun last night on Trinity. The score was 1-0. I dont know who won. It might have been us. :p

        But it was fun.

My server of choice at the moment is R2. I always end up being somebody's bitch on R2, but they get me fair and square. Kill me, but kill me fairly.

Boojie I appreciate your open mind and earlier tip of the hat to our server. I hope and trust that you are still keeping an open mind. What I and Lin are responding to is the fact that Maranello is biased and does not seem to keep the open mindedness needed to conduct an unbiased "audit". He appears to have some preconceived notions that he only tries to justify and reinforce, not dispel or provide us with the benefit of the doubt. As Lin stated and I also had made reference to earlier, Maranello misrepresented the facts to artificially boost his credibility and the reasoning behind his post. I didn't see a retraction or apology earlier and he seems to be doing the same all over again. I don't know what standards are applied here to forum moderators, but over at MG we ask that people be as unbiased as possible and have clear reasoning to discern the validity or appropriateness of people's statements. How can a moderator reason that he was justified in breaking a server's rules? As someone who works in the journalistic field I know where I am coming from and am sensitive to people's bias, probably more than most people. I also have a very fine BS meter and Maranello made the needle move a couple of times already.

As I stated before, I am grateful to Maranello for reopening this thread and the learning opportunity that it became for all of us, however I take exception to what I perceive as a witch hunt. You can't take a snippet that reinforces your own views and rush to generalize based on that.

Once again I repeat that coming from someone who is supposed to be a moderator on a forum that is an even greater fault.

Always glad to see another happy guest. We aim to please, we aim to make the game fun/fair for all but we can't guarantee you will own on our server, however I hope that your skills will increase quickly because of the experience of playing against other skilled players. I hope I haven't made you my bitch too often.

I think he disagrees with a particular interpretation and implementation of a rule you guys impose, but I dont think he dislikes you guys. You guys disagree on a philosophical level.

Maybe I am reading him wrong. I just dont get the sense that he's out to get you. He's a rather public figure here and when he posts more on the subject, we can then take a look at his collective thoughts on this. It doesn't take long to get to the heart of someone's personality (ie. colony), so if maranello is indeed biased against you guys, it'll show.

I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt as I am giving you guys the benefit of the doubt. I don't see you guys as melicious or trying to run a rouge server and I dont see him as melicious and trying to take you down for no reason. Actually, he has nothing to gain in this matter.

I know it can be hard to listen to constructive criticism (I had performance evals at work last week....argh). Try not to go on the defensive, but by all means defend yourself from slander and inaccurate posts. It's equally as hard to provide constructive criticism without the emotional langauge that guarantees the other party immediately goes on the defensive.

But I'll check out your box (your server ) and form my own opinion.

              Cheers..

Ahhh....we have an adult running the server. Nice. That's what brought me over to R2.

I'll be there tonite on or around 8pm PST, not auditing or anything. Just for a good old round. I hope my ping is good.

Thank you. Like any server we can't guarantee a fun game every time, but we'll do our best to be good hosts!!

This particular server is still in its infancy, it's less than two months old so everything (including the rules) is still somewhat in flux, and we're still staffing up. Hope to see you there!

                          Uh oh.

I'm looking forward to it. The only thing more satsifying than picking up a one shot kill as a sniper is marking a server as a favorite. I've only got two (R2 and Trinity). I like Trinity because they use a lot of maps as opposed to the constant Wake/Karland/Mash scene that's becoming too common. I always seem to catch em on Zatar (love that map!) and Dalian.

Now, I just gotta figure out a way to do something with the gf. She's coming over tonite. Decisions, decisions.

(She loves the game too...when someone kills me, she screams and scares the hell out of me. I can't sneak up on someone as SF because she gets too tense. It's like she's watching a horror movie...she actually covers her eyes we when see the enemy.)

Simply enough, I will put this out. There is no possible way to take on a jet. You can take on a helicopter, an apc, a tank, but not a jet. Why? Stingers and IGLA's don't do anything because they won't follow a jet and they will fly off to the sky even when you lock onto a jet. AT rockets are even worse because they are slower. The only way to take out a jet is to have another jet take it out but the problem is that the other jets are busy bombing the ground too. This is why they are making a patch that will hopefully take out Jets. In jets, you are pratically using god mode because you can't die. On ground, you die every couple minutes. EA saw this and is fixing this. All bunny hoppers, dolphin divers, and kind of the jet whores are going to get pwned by the more skilled players because they can't use their cheap techniques that will keep them alive and I say good riddens. Good by noobs and whores, hello sweet online warfare.

Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

What did you not understand in my last post dear MG admins? I have played in your server for 20-25 minutes, 2 rounds total, and i saw nothing, but baseraping. And you are expecting me to apologize? For what? What did i do to apologize? If i wasn't right, if what i have been saying here wouldn't have any truth in it, why is it that day after day people from your community registering to our forum, and posting here? Because if i were a MG admin, and if somebody let me know about this situation, and IF i am 100% that i am right about the issue, i wouldn't even waste 5 minutes going to another forum explaining myself. I would just say "they can think/say whatever they want to, i am sure of myself" period.

Let me sum things up a little bit, because even though i have been gently and nicely talking about your server without personally attacking ANY of your members here, each one of your post includes a personal attack towards my personality. I am not the voice of public, i don't represent TotalBF2's opinion about this, i m just a BF2 player, that's all.

Here is what has been going on (in my point of view) and what i have been saying for the past week.

                                1. One of the days last week, i was playing gulf of oman, people left the server i was in, so there wasn't enough people to start a round, i left the server, started making a search and i found MG's mostly oman server. I definetly did not go to that server just because i read this post. You can check my earlier posts.

                                2. I was in the server, i read their rules which said "do not attack UCB with choppers, jets". So i didn't. I went around the map, there was NO USMC bases left, not even a single soldier were on the beach. I flied towards their carrier, if i remember correctly, someone rammed into me, and called me a noob. I didn't reply.

                                3. 3-4 minutes after, i got in the MIG, made a pass over their carrier, i saw at least 20 people running around shooting each other (all USMC team) to get into vehicles. I saw people throwing flashbangs to taking off jets resulting in their crash.

                                4. It had been 5 minutes, USMC was losing their tickets, my entire team was attacking the carrier, from the sea via boats, APCs, from air via bomber plane and attack choppers.

                                5. I flied towards carrier, i dropped 2 bombs, killed a few people, without a warning i got banned.

What made me come here and post was NOT the fact that they don't want people attacking UCB, it was the fact that, when there are NO flags left, and when at least 4-5 minutes passes by, and when USMC team makes NO effort or whatsoever to win the game but camp in the carrier for planes to spawn and teamkill eachother, i said "what is MEC team supposed to do with 30 players? wait on the beach?"

Thats ALL i said. But people came here, didn't even read my posts, accused me for complaining "don't attack UCB" rule which i never did. From my first post here, i always said that " I accept that the teams shouldn't attack each other's UCB for game balance" but as we all know, 99% of the servers that has this rule, always explicity state that "do not attack UCB UNLESS THERE ARE NO FLAGS LEFT" that was my entire point. But it was so hard for MG people to understand.

Also, in one of the posts, a MG admin stated that I was wrong about the arillery rule, he posted some server logs, and showed that the guy who said it wasn't a MG admin. If you read my post about that particular issue, i said something similar to this "the minute i joined the server, i saw "You are not meant to artillery carrier". I did not make it up, you can check the time i logged in the server, and the time that message was first posted in the chat. However i apologize if i created some misunderstandings. I never said the artillery was restricted, i said just saw it in the chat.

Anways, back to my point, after this incident happened, i came here, we debated, talked about all the rules, ranked server ROE, EA's terms and conditions, and so on. Then i read some good comments about MG server admins, both by their own words and by other members of their community or regular people from public, and i decided to give it a try

One more thing i must point out. You don't know me, i don't know any of you. None of you ever talked to me one on one, not even heard my voice, same thing goes for each and every one of you. So i would like to outline some of stuff about me, especially my gameplay.

I don't like vehicle whoring, i don't like bunnyhopping, dolphin diving, noob tubing. I don't like people jumping 6 feet on the air, going prone and doing this while getting headshots. I don't like people parking the attack chopper on a hill and by using TV guided missiles, taking out jets, tanks, other transport or attack choppers without even showing themselves. I don't like people who whine in the game. I don't like people who get so aggressive, and so hostile because they basically died, or their team doesn't do well. By reading this paragraph, one can clearly say " maranello mate, MG server is just for you!, people like you always play there", that's why i gave it a try last night, that's why for the first 3-4 months after BF2 released, i played in privately owned, clan servers. but i saw this, there are really very very rare cases where there are admins in both teams, the team that the admin is in always gets to benefit from server rules, this has two main reasons:

                                1. Admin doesn't want to warn/kick/ban people in his team because they are working for his team and he benefits from it.

                                2. There is no way for the admin in MEC team to know what's going on in USMC, and therefore can't do anything

That's why i gave up on those servers. I was disappointed and left alone thousands of times. I saw double standards, lies, unfairness, inequality and so many other things. And whenever i see server admins lecturing other people about how they pay attention to rules, i always remember my experiences.

But, what did i do yesterday? I gave another chance. Because that is me, that's my personality. I went to their server, i totally erased whatever memory i had about MG server, its admins, and players, and i went there like a total noob. I put myself into their shoes, and that's how i played. I went there and the following happened, please read carefully:

                                1. I went in the server, the second i spawned, by i mean the very first physical second i spawned, i heard F-35B's machine gun, and i died.

                                2. The round hadn't just started, because the tickets indicated otherwise, and there were people having over 100 points in USMC team (the jet pilots). I sat there on the corner, and i watched and i saw that the same guy doing the same thing over and over and over again, baseraping

                                3. I didn't even open my mouth. I got in the jeep, and i went to another base. Shortly after round ended.

                                4. Next round i got in the plane, the bomber plane, passed by 3-4 beach bases, then the same guy got on my tail, brought me down to 30-40% health, i landed my jet, he didn't kill me when landing. I rearmed, repaired, i was going back to the beginning of the runway to turn my jet, he came back, blew me and my other pilot up with his guns.

                                5. After that, i couldn't get in the plane if i remember correctly because he and his friend (the guy with [DRC] clan tag and the guy with (swe)) tag on this name, kept baseraping our base for minutes. I just died by the [DRC] guy's guns 12 times. The last time i looked at his kills, it was 35 to 3, before i left the server.

                                6. Me and my teammates, consistenly warned the admin in a proper way. but even though the admin kept warning his own teammates for Teamkilling to steal the jets, he did NOT respond to any of our requests. I also asked repeatedly many times if there was any admin in my team, but my teammates who have been playing longer than me in that team said there wasn't any.

                                7. In my first post, i said something like maybe the admin was afk, or was in the bathroom, etc, i was joking, i was merely pointing out the fact that how admins did not respond the enemy team members. Because the admin was using BF2CC to warn his own teammates for teamkilling to steal the jets.

                                8. There were two admins in the USMC team, none in the MEC team. One of the admins had JADMIN tag (just learned from MG guys it was Jr Admin in training), and the other one did not have a tag, he just used BF2CC console to issue warnings.

                                9. I can not remember the names of the admins, as i took screenshots, but my video card (7800 GT) has an issue with BF2, whenever i take a screenshot, the game lags out horribly, i get artifacts in the game, and usually my game crashes. If i knew it was going to happen that time (as it doesn't happen always), i would write down the names of the admins. But i am 100% sure the there were 2 admins in USMC team actively, playing in the game, because they were issuing warnings, talking in the chat, but not replying any of our messages.

Now i wrote like maybe 2000-3000 words here. Can you please point one personal attack? One personal message, that includes one specific name? I could pick on people in here from MG community. Do you see me doing that? There are at least 10-15 MG members writing or reading this topic. Why do you think i am not doing that? because i am not trying to bring down their server, or humiliate them, or undermine them (as they do otherwise to me), i am trying to help BF2 community to be better, as i do realize the servers like MG are really important to BF2 community

                                What MG needs to do?

                                1. Train your admins in non-busy times. Don't train them friday night, when the server is full. At least don't do it when they are too new.

                                2. Make it so that two teams always have admins. This is very very important and the reason of the entire argument.

                                3. Change your server rules in the loading screen to something like "Do not attack UCB under ANY circumstances, not even when there are no flags left" (which i totally disagree, i would rather see that you change this rule, and let enemy team to attack UCB when there are no flags left as this is what 99% of the servers are doing.)

                                4. Warn people before you kick them at least 1-2 times.

                                5. Tell your admins that they represent MG community, and they should not make personal decisions. They banned me without warning because i killed the admin in the carrier. Do you see me banning MG members here in this forum even though they are personally attacking me and using offensive words (which is in violation of TotalBF2 CoC section B, part 6), no, of course not! why? Because they don't deserve to be treated that way (maybe one day they'll treat me the way i treat them with respect), because i can not punish people for personal reasons, just because they got on my nerves. that should be the attitude of your admins.

                                6. The last, enforece your rules fully. Do not leave any holes in your system. Do that, and i promise, i will play in your server 24/7 everyday because i rather play in a relaxed, less stressed environment and get less points than play in a aggressive and hostile environment and get 2 x more points. And i mean this. I am not trying to (as i said before) humiliate you, harm your community and your server, show people how bad people you are in ANY way.

Hopefully i made myself clear this time. Because everytime i sit here and spend 1 hour writing a post for this topic, and all i see is something i never meant in my post, something i never even thought about in my head. I am trying to be constructive, please do the same. Let's find a common ground, instead of fighting with each other here, we can be playing in Gulf of Oman and helping each other.

                                Take care yourselves,

                                Maranello
