Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?
Could you please answer my two questions about that great non-arbitrary rule that's so easy to understand and enforce?
Kattspya,
It is a judgement call. As humans, we have to make judgement calls. I don't know exactly how to define "vehicle whoring" as for any generalized rule I give, I bet you or I could come up with an exception.
Rarely are things perfectly defined and so, we make a rule, and then make judgement calls on it. Clearly, taking the plane for 5 rounds in a row, if other people might want it, is whoring. That is not a very difficult judgement to make.
Now, you can argue until the cows come home that the rules aren't perfectly clear. . . however, this is not a court of law. It is a video game. These people own and operate their own servers and, as long as they comply with EULA, they are free to enforce any rule they want however they want it.

I think that a server operater can do whatever he wants that doesn't mean I have to agree or like it. Any arbitrary rule will come under question and is very hard to enforce.
If they want to have arbitrary rules I will consider them idiots and I will argue against it. This particular rule is stupid. Getting any vehicle consistently is very hard if there is enough opposition. The "whore" has the same chance as everyone else to get the vehicle. If you want to give players with older hardware a chance to get vehicles first round then implement longer round start waiting times. Punishing players because they won't die and have a knack for getting vehicles is stupid unless you want your server population to consist of sub par players.
This rule is, IMO the same as kicking players who get too many gold medals becuase others want them too. When you don't get a vehicle you want you just suck it up or leave the server and find another one with less competition.

Obviously not.

Why? Just becaue something is arbitrary does not mean it is wrong.

I question whether or not you even use vehicles in this game. If the spawn time of a vehicle is slightly longer than that for a player and a player has a fast computer, it is easy to grab a vehicle over and over. I do it myself. To say that it is "very hard" makes me wonder if you have ever even tried.
The "whore" has the same chance as everyone else to get the vehicle.
Not necessarily. Once a whore gets a vehicle, their chances of getting it again are drastically increased. On top of that, if the whore has a fast computer, they increase their chances of getting the vehicle even more.
If you want to give players with older hardware a chance to get vehicles first round then implement longer round start waiting times.
Instead of making those who have fast computer why not just say "share or be kicked?"
Punishing players because they won't die and have a knack for getting vehicles is stupid unless you want your server population to consist of sub par players.
First, I made it clear that if a person does not die, they are not obligated to get out of the plane. Second, we aren't talking about within one round. We are talking about over 5 rounds.
This rule is, IMO the same as kicking players who get too many gold medals becuase others want them too.
No it isn't. Not at all, in fact. Kicking someone for getting gold medals is kicking them for doing well. Kicking someone for monopolizing a vehicle for 5 rounds has nothing to do with kicking them for their skill.
When you don't get a vehicle you want you just suck it up or leave the server and find another one with less competition.
You contradict yourself. If a person is able to whore a vehicle, someone better might be the one not getting his chance. So you are potentially asking good people to leave the server or suck it up so some whore can have the plane all they want.
I don't think it is unreasonable for a server to ask people to share. There is no reason for someone to take the plane every round for the whole round. If you don't like the rule, take your own advice, suck it up or leave the server.

What one thinks of a rule is mostly subjective. I think it is wrong, you don't.

I am a helicopter whore and I know what you have to do to grab that piece of hardware. It is very hard if there are four other people there who knows where to stand. This comes from practise and can be said to be a skill since many players have no idea of where to stand.

What does a fast computer have to do with anything after round start?

I don't like to wait for luddites. That's why I said IF. That way everyone gets the same opportunity. I don't see a reason to kick someone because they have a knack for getting a vehicle over and over.

If he gets the plane five rounds in a row then the other players don't know where to stand or are absent. Besides your friend said one round was enough, not five.

Kicking someone for monopolizing the gold medal is exactly the same. Are you telling me it's all random when trying to enter before three other people and being able to do it consistently?

Not likely. But it may happen. Too bad the one who didn't get the vehicle wasn't good at that particular skill.
Your rule IS turning good people away.

I think it is unreasonable. Everyone has the same chance to get the plane after the first round. Why kick the successful ones?
As I've said before: you may have whatever rules you want on your own server but don't expect me to like them and not argue their validity.

Obviously it is under contest due to this post.
You said it was hard to enforce, not contest.

Non-sequitor. On top of that it is untrue. And you are showing your stripes. You fully admit to being a whore, so you have something personally invested in this debate. YOUR view of it is subjective. My view is objective as I do whore from time to time but will give it up if someone asks me to. If someone whores, I could care less. I have nothing absolutely nothing personally vested in this debate. That being said, iIsee no reason why a server should not be able to delcare and enforce a rule about no whoring.

I love how you are now arguing that you need to a skill to stop people from whoring.
What does a fast computer have to do with anything after round start?
Nothing. But I am talking about when a level loads. Fast computer (or whatever helps you get in faster) will help you get to the jet first.
I don't like to wait for luddites. That's why I said IF. That way everyone gets the same opportunity. I don't see a reason to kick someone because they have a knack for getting a vehicle over and over.
So, you don't want to wait and you don't want to share. I see. It is becoming more and more clear that you have an edge, you know it and you don't want that tampored with.
If he gets the plane five rounds in a row then the other players don't know where to stand or are absent. Besides your friend said one round was enough, not five.
My friend? Who's that? I debate for myself and myself alone.
Kicking someone for monopolizing the gold medal is exactly the same.
You are going to have to defend this point not just make it as if it fact. Again, kicking someone for getting gold medals is kicking them for being good. Kicking them for whoring the plane is kicking them for whoring the plane. Sure, I guess, if keep getting the gold you are keeping it from other people. . . but there are multiple ways to get a lot of points, there is only one (or two) planes.
Your rule IS turning good people away.
It's not "my" rule. As I said, I could care less if someone whores vehicles. I play for fun. Whether or not I have a vehicle, I have fun. What I said is that I believe this is a perfectly reasonable rule to have on a server. All this rule does is allow everyone to have fun. I guess if good people don't want everyone to have fun, it will drive them away, you are correct.
you may have whatever rules you want on your own server but don't expect me to like them and not argue their validity.
Sure, but you really haven't argued their "validity" all you have done is said that you don't like it. I have given you multiple reasons WHY it is okay to have that rule. Your only reason for not having the rule is "why have it?" and "it scares good players away." Neither is very convincing.

Have you ever been admin? It's bloody hard to enforce even rules against teamkilling. It's not done in a jiffy and you need to spend time determining what happened and what not. The more complicated they are the harder they are to enforce.

Non sequitur my ass. Prove to me that this rule is objectively right.
I don't have **** invested in this debate. If I run out of random public servers to play on I can always revert to our clanservers. If you think you have moral high ground because you don't care whether you get a vehicle or not you are mistaken.
I don't see a problem with a server implementing this but that doesn't stop me from disagreeing as I've said three times alredy.

No I'm telling you it takes skill to consistently get a vehicle. The same way it can be difficult to get a gold medal.

I stated that in the post you answered to, why are you telling me what I alredy know?

Of course I don't want someone to boot me out of the helicopter I got into. Why should I or anyone have to stand back because they have learned where to stand to usually get the driver seat?

I was referring to chris something. I was under the impression you were in the same clan.

Kicking someone for doing something that is not random is like kicking someone for getting something not random. Are you beginning to see what I'm trying to tell you?
There are up to two planes but there is only one gold medal. It's even more scarce. Why shouldn't you share the gold medal as well? What makes the vehicles shareworthy but not the medal?

As stated above I thought you were in the same clan as the server owners. I think the rule stinks.

I've given you multiple reasons why I don't like the rule and you have done the same. I don't agree with you and you don't agree with me. I don't see why your oppinions are "righter" than mine.
For me the enforced sharing of vehicles is comparable to sharing the gold medal. You may try to convince me that it's not. That is the reason for my stance on this issue.
Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?
Private server- You are the server's bitch, and you don't do what the server doesn't want you to do, or you will be kicked. They pay money for the server so they make the rules.

I think most people overlook the simple fact that youre only a guest at a private server. You either play by the rules or you leave. None of those options should give you the right to bitch.
