Re: Kicked for being too good in Moongamers server?

Ok Now I finally got a few things I would like to say MWHAHAHA!!!

First off. Maranello, what admin experience do you have in BF2? I don’t see any records in this topic stating where you admin at. Second off we follow the W/K/B policy, BUT there are times and situations where you cannot enforce the warning and have to go straight to the kick/ban. We send out general server warnings for basecamping all the start of the game and even throughout the game, nullifying our warnings. Third off nobody is personally attacking anyone and if you are taking offense to what has been posted then I recommend you need to sit back and clam down. Admining on Oman is no easy task by any means, especially if there is one admin on the server. Majority of our Oman admins are still in training and it takes time to perfect the art of admining. Admining is not for everyone, alot of people fail the training, but in the end when these junior admins become admins, they will be coming in with the best judgment and natural personality that we train them. It’s not as simple as it looks and for the sever being up for only approx 2 months, it has came a long ways. If an admin doesn’t see something that you see and isn’t responding to the chats, then come onto Teamspeak and notify them of the problem. Sitting there chat spamming the issue is not effective, unless 3 to 4 different people complain about the same thing. Nothing is going to always be fair. We can't make the server 100% fair, it’s physically impossible. We will enforce the rules as much as we can, but there will always be stuff that will slip by, not because the admin chooses it to, because it’s impossible to catch EVERY SINGLE person who is violating the rules. Besides nobody has mentioned exactly what our spawn camping rule entails, and how we proceed to enforce the rule, so not knowing that makes it that much more difficult for anyone who is not a MG admin to say "hey this admin is not enforcing his rules".

3 rounds are not enough to make a valid argument to say that our admins are poorly. For those who are just discovering our community, have you been on our Teamspeak? Have you looked through our forums? Are you familiar with our system and processes? I know this much 3 rounds on Oman is not enough to get familiarized with all of it.

Maranello, I totally understand where you are coming from. Im not trying to flame anyone or any community out there. Every private community runs things differently. We all have our own style. I appreciate your opinions on the how you think a community should be run, but it’s never that simple. I have been in management and admining for years now and every BF2 admin from a private server knows it’s not that simple.

Join us on Teamspeak, I would really like to get to know you better Marenello. You seem like an intelligent guy and you raise excellent point of views and thoughts that i think are valid, I would gladly welcome a friendly chat from one fellow gamer to another.

    Thanks
    Matt

There were previous "innacuracies" in your reporting of what happened to you at our server and who said what at our server.

I have stated several times that the server is not fully staffed as it should be and we wish for it to be. It is a work in progress. When no admins are on you can have a good experience or not, depending on the players at the time, regardless of the server, the rules or the admin's competence. It does turn into a zoo sometimes when no admin is around, but what can we do? Some people are like animals and try to enforce the law of the jungle on others. Each player, however, is responsible for his or her own actions. So, I don't care if a player doesn't care about the rules or is bored or whatever, he, she or it cannot break the rules and complain when they're caught in the act and disciplined by the admin.

I am adminning right now and your post is pretty long so I cannot address the points you raise at this time but will come back to edit this post with a fuller reply. No it is not personal. It is about statements made by people, but it is not about the people. Let's keep it that way.

      Thanks again, Maranello.

Gentlemen, this is fruitless. Each person has their own idea of what is fun. Facts aren't important, fun is. I'm going to go have some.

And Maranello...I'm not a guy. If I was there would be something REALLY wrong with my avy and sig.

Does it get better than this?

              -------------------------------------

Well, I took a tour of MG. I had a ping of 125, but I didn't notice any lag.

I'll give it a few more rounds to form a more solid opinion. In what little time I did spend there, the most noticable thing I witnessed was something that was truly amazing. There was an enemy helo, parked...yes, parked on a roof. I don't know the name of the flag, but it was towards the bottom at the far right left near a river. The helo was parked up there and raping. I noticed this after it took 5-6 deaths just trying to spawn. I can see why colony loves this place. Jets rule here.

I saw the obligatory bunnyhopping. And I witnessed my first instance of dolphin diving (I had only heard about it, never actually witnessed it).

Did I mention the helo on the roof? I love it. As much as I hate the rape, it does show creativity. I mean, if you're gonna rape, then do it with style. That helo pilot had style.

I also noticed it's a mostly Oman map. That might be the big flaw. Oman is cool, but throw in some Zatar and Dalian. Anyways, time to head back to MG to see if I could enjoy it there. So far, I barely had a chance to fight. I spent most of my time dying/attempting to spawn.

Its no flaw. Oman is the home map. Admins do switch it up often.

Maranello I read your whole post(yes I can read that much). I do see how that could be totally unfair since 2 planes are base raping and not letting your team get anywhere and how there are 2 admins on the other team and none on your team. I feel your pain and anguish. I do believe, however, that if you believe that their servers are not agreeable and "unfair" then you should find a different server. MG members, I am not trying to give you a bad name nor am I trying to make advertisements that say that your servers are bad, I am just trying to give Maranello some good advice. If you are frustrated with a server, leave. If you don't, you will go crazy and have anger rising up in you and you might go killing people. Maranello, I agree with you. MG guys, rules apply for everyone and everyone is you guys too and guys on your team.

Be sure to let an admin know in chat or in teamspeak. We can't be everywhere at once, so it makes our jobs alot easier when you call the person out.

When we see a person breaking a rule, it is dealt with no matter what team they are on. Like I said, be sure to call them out in chat or teamspeak, preferably teamspeak as it gets our attention a little better.

We try to be as fair as possible, and while it may seem like we sometimes only deal with baserapers when they kill us, that's only because they get our attention better when we're the ones doing the dying. Alot of people complain about people breaking the camping rule, and alot more say nothing more than "i thought no baserape???" in chat. That doesn't help us, let us know WHO the problem is.

If I make a new account now with the way I can fly now, I would have a 100:1 kill death ratio if I want. But I'm not concerned with that.

Amen to that. That's a standard response we get and the number of times I have to explain that just because we are admins doesn't mean we can see every player all of the time. Other than BF2CC which really only tells us players on the server, their score, kit, ping, number of tk's etc We cannot watch every player 24/7 its physically impossible.

Basically we need help from the players to help them. We use the same methodology that if we don't see it with our own eyes we can't take action. The reason being is people tend to lie. Unfortunately we can't trust anyone because it may be the case they have a grudge against someone and they are hoping by complaining we will instantly kick them. We can't and we won't unless we see it with our own eyes.

We need the players to help us to admin. Its no point saying that say "I thought attacking uncaps until last flag is against the rules" Yes that is correct but again if we don't have the help from players such as them giving us the name of the offender unfotunately we can't go much further, unless they give us details like say it was from a jet or a tank is spawn camping an uncap. Without a players name it makes it more difficult. With a players name it won't = an instant kick which some players can't understand why because they saw them or died because someone was breaking a rule. What we do is when we get a players name we die or suicide. Make sure we are on the same team as the offender. Then we follow them around in chase cam view and watch them for quite a while. If we catch them breaking a rule we will then warn then with the approriate reason. We continue to follow them around. If they break a rule again, depending on the situation they may get warned again or they get kicked.

They way I understand that Moongamers admin is very similar to the way we at Raging Rebels admin. The reason people get warned or get kicked when they break a rule and we happen to be personally on the receiving end is simple. We saw it with our own eyes. We may have died from someone breaking a rule so therefore we can take instant action.

The reason as I said we admin this way is obviously to save us from making an incorrect decision and possibly kicking an innocent player based on someone elses word. However admins are humans too. Humans make mistakes. We try our best to get it right but sometimes an error can be made. However we try to limit these to as little or none as possible by admining in this way. We admin using common sense. We use the appropriate kick/ban/warn messages. These will be displayed as a pb kick reason when the player gets kicked. Now when you see the reason "You have been kicked for teamkilling or from an admin decision" This means that an admin didn't actually kick you despite that it say they may have. What it means is you have been auto-kicked, by the tkpunish system. E.G. Our server has the tk limit set to 5. Now if you tk 5 people and all 5 punish you will get auto-kicked and get the above message.

I hope some people get a little more understanding of how mature, responsible admins act and how they go about doing their job. There is plenty more involved than what I mentioned but that should give you a broad understanding of how our admins make decisions.
